natlan ugh, idk, i liked ororon in aq, but then in the events they made him really annoying for some reason. i like kachina, but more from like, shes the only character who has coherent arc bc its at the beginning of the region before the writers were pulled for nod krai. so idk, just from personal taste probably ifa?

no 4 star pity. with how good and essential 4 stars are for genshin i think this is severely underrated point. like i started my f2p account on nahida's banner and kuki was on the banner. i was like great, hyperbloom guaranteed! I got nahida, but no kuki. ganyu banner was running parallel, so i pulled on her. i got ganyu, still no kuki! i grinded exploration like crazy which tbh very much ruined my enjoyment of the story, pulled on both nahida and ganyu banners, and got ganyu C1 without getting kuki. like. I got THREE limited 5 stars before a SINGLE 4 star that was on the banner! i don't know how this is not the biggest point of complaints instead of "we want 10 more wishes". i also got kazuha easily on f2p, but didn't get a single sucrose for 3 years until i could claim her from the witch event! anyone calling 4 stars f2p friendly are lying! Just add 4 star pity, like fate points for weapons, like you select 4 star (that is featured on the bannber, i'm not even going crazy with all 4 stars), and if you get 3 or 4 4-stars that are not your selected character, you get them

that said, i would like more wishes per patch, but realistically, gachas give more wishes when they need to promote themselves, and genshin is doing well enough, its staying in top 3 revenue 6 years in, i don't think they will increase the free wishes drastically

just drop week day requirements on materials farming. like why is it even here?

add some resin overflow

idk i think the biggest problem is 4 star availability, esp with how new 4 stars don't get added to the paimon shop while being severely depended on cons. like the difference between c0 and c6 illuga is useless and "allows zibai to clear dire stygian".

but let me know if i forgot smth! to be clear, i don't think no skip is a problem, genshin players don't understand the story even as is

i legit got war flashbacks to 100%-ing sumeru desert, it was so bad, but i can understand bc from the comments the impression i got is that this is sentiment from ppl who don't really play other games with exploration, so they are frustrated bc genshin is not providing enough for them in sheer volume.

and if that is you, then my sincere advice is to play other exploration games. i'm not saying ugh, stop playing genshin if you don't like it, no, i'm saying play genshin AND other games. "openworld slop" became a termin for a reason, there are dozens of open world games that are just huge empty areas with repetitive activities like sumeru desert. i'm not even saying its bad, i enjoyed some assassin creed games, horizon zero down, riding a horsie thru elden ring, etc. branch out into other genres, like rpg, try baldurs gates 3 frex, its not my personal fav, but its popular for a reason, has a lot of hours to explore and its a waifu collector like genshin, but you get to self-insert. play breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom to see how much better genshin iterated on botw then its own sequel asdfgh. and old-ish games don't cost much, still look great, and actually just pirate them, 99% of AAA openworld games are from greedy corporations, its okay

what i'm saying is that if what you want is purely A LOT of space and\or hours, there are so many options. the thing is that genshin releases basically triple A game worth of content every year, and in limited time frames like that you can either do quality or quantity. most of the industry is doing quantity, i.e. huge empty spaces with repetitive stuff, and basically nobody is doing quality like genshin did in nod krai and temple of space, which is very dense exploration, with multiple layers and dimensions to it, hidden passages, unlocking shortcuts, etc, with puzzles that connect to each other, to the lore and to the quests. like maybe Avowed had a dense exploration like that, but it doesn't have a lot of replayability unfortunately. if you have other recs, please do tell me, i'd love to try them.

don't feel stupid, its perfectly understandable to be confused here bc hoyo like on purpose obfuscates facts to make moon sisters more likable. which is crazy, like THEY wrote a story when moon sisters are race traitors and then they try to bury it.

like i myself at first thought its a retcon and phanes coexisted with dragons, but moon area makes it clear they did not, we have many terminal logs of dragons talking about terrifying invader that makes it clear they did not like him, and this supports "Before Sun and Moon", initial lore drop we got in enkanomiya

this is the initial war with the SOVEREIGNS. "The seven Sovereigns were vanquished and the seven nations submitted to the heavens". This is the the first conquest, nibelung is still away, this is a war with sovereigns only, with race traitor moons on the side of phanes

THEN

You can see that at least several hundred years passed, teyvat was terraformed and repopulated by humans, and THEN nibelung came back. From the nod krai AQ we know that the war with nibelung was called "Funerary wars", and here we have section "The Funerary Year" and second descender, which is nibelung. "and war was rekindled, as it was in the world's creation" - this is written by worshippers of phanes, what they mean is that the second war with the dragons happened, bc for them the first war was "creation of the world", even if WE know that the world existed long before them.

so the timeline is:

the voyager tells nibelung teyvat will be eventually consumed by the abyss, offers to leave with her

nibelung refuses, but now that he knows about danger, he leaves to find ways to protect his planet

nibelung leaves moon sisters in charge of the laws of the world and dragon sovereigns in charge of people

phanes invades. moon sisters collaborate with him, dragons do not

war with the dragon sovereigns, phanes wins, most of the dragons are dead

phanes terraforms the planet and repopulates it with humans, this is unified civilization time

nibelung, corruptred with abyss, returns, sees his ppl dead

he imprisons moon sisters, turns moons into death stars, fights with whatever little dragons are left

but then you explore moon and you find these cutscenes with the moon sisters talking and i felt like i'm being gaslit, bc they talked like the dragons didn't exist. i felt crazy listening to them being like teehee i know you went to a dance party last week! when five fucking minutes ago i read last words from a dragon saying that they prayed to moon goddesses for help bc there was no one else to pray to. like how are u supposed to find these assholes giggling endearing after that?

but then i unlocked their last cutscene, which is btw the hardest to unlock, you need to like 100% the moon basically, so most ppl won't see it, and it finally acknowledges dragons
