To make a great first impression and build your brand from the moment you start your new job, avoid these major missteps:

1. Eat lunch in your office.

2. Multi-task during meetings.

3. Assume you’re expected to know all the answers.

4. Be silent.

5. Enjoy the downtime and wait for direction.

6. Be spontaneous.

7. Get caught up in office gossip.

8. Try too hard.

I know which one I’m going to accept, hands down. Just one minor hurdle left – telling them “The News.” They seem very flexible and nice so I don’t anticipate it being a big deal. And if it is, it won’t be the company for me.

I’m so relieved the job hunt is over and that I found a position that will not only pay the bills, but that I’m truly excited about! There is lots of room for growth, a fantastic attitude about work/life balance, and the commute will be like TEN MINUTES. On local roads. PLUS… more money than I was making in DC!
