[[ Downpour]] - Closed for Tsubomi
@goingxghost
It was pouring rain. Yamuraiha was hardly opposed to a cloud burst, there was something about the waterfall that erupted from overhead that was calming to her. In spite of those around her rushing for shelter as the storm started, she didn’t increase her pace… instead a smile grew on her lips as she tilted her head back, cerulean gaze watching the canopy above as heavy drops of water fell around her like a symphony. She wasn’t sure when rain had become a pacifier, something soothing to the Biologist but as long as she could remember she would find herself preferring to rush outside into a storm, instead of fleeing it; after all water could hardly hurt you. Holding out her hands to capture the small pools that gathered on her palms before letting them overflow down to the ground below, she merely laughed, as though the downpour washed away any stress from her life, washing her clean like the earth below. Though her jubilation was cut short, when a flash of light lit up the dark sky, a crack of thunder following only seconds later that seemed to shake everything to its core. As much as the young woman loved the rain, even she knew better than to stay out in a thunder storm. A sigh left her lips as she turned to find the nearest store to duck into to wait out the storm. Blue eyes landed on the brightly flashing arcade and she quickly hurried towards it, stepping inside suddenly all to aware she was soaked to the bone, long hair sticking to the skin of her shoulders as her sundress clung to her body.
“Sorry! I’ll stay on the mat until the thunder lets up” She called out to the girl at the counter, allowing her small puddle to stay at her feet, shivering lightly as the air conditioning suddenly felt cold on her soaked frame. “The storm came from nowhere”
Rain meant very little business. Or at least, more business from people who were already there. She’d have to keep an eye on the power too. It wouldn’t be good if the power went out in the middle of getting a high score. She could understand the frustration of working on something, only for the power to go out and all progress lost.
She had just been putting a new roll of tickets in the machine when the storm began. She glanced up, turning to observe the storm--though it hadn’t looked that bad at that moment, so she went about her task and returned to the counter where her novel sat, waiting for her to continue. Finally sitting back down and opening it, she immersed herself in the story once more--only for the chime of the door to catch her attention later.
At first, she wasn’t sure how much time had passed, but the storm had certainly grown in intensity since she’d first looked. But such was the weather, changing in the blink of an eye. “Ah, it’s fine,” she responded, placing her bookmark back in the book. “Would you like a towel? We have some in the back.”
Maybe there was an umbrella she could offer too, but now certainly wasn’t the time to be out in such a storm anyway. If it kept going, she’d probably have to wait when her shift ended, or get Kano to bring her an umbrella from home.
Still, with the air conditioning, it’d probably get a bit chilly for her. “I can get you a chair too, at least, so you don’t have to stand the whole time. It looks like it might be a while.”

Something was bothering him, and getting him on edge. It felt that he’s been watched, or followed, but there wasn’t anyone he knew that would want to do that other than his dorm-mate. He had just got off work, and had already changed out of his uniform, while grabbing his free lunch at the front counter. At least the benefit of working in a food place meant cheap meals, so then he wouldn’t have to worry about cooking. But that was the least of his worries, as his current concern was this edgy feeling that’s been messing with his head for the past hour. It was making him lose his appetite, and perhaps he shouldn’t have grabbed the free meal for the day. Ah well, might as well give it to some random kid at school. ☪
To ignore the situation, he put his headphones on to tune it out, but even then the agitation in his mind was still lingering. This was strange. Normally, his music would cancel everything out by now, but this presence was still making him feel trippy. He let out a sigh and decided to slow down his pace, but soon as he did, he bumped shoulders with someone. He stopped to see who it was, the hoody he had on falling off his head and revealing his blonde hair. ☪
“Oh…” suddenly, that feeling disappeared. Why hasn’t he noticed them before, and how long have they been there? He has seen so many faces today, he must’ve been exhausted. ☪
“Erm…” now he wasn’t sure how to deal with the situation. He glanced away, but kept shifting their eyes back at them, wondering if they’d react first. Hopefully they wouldn’t be mad for him bumping into them, as the only repayment he had was the food in his hands. ☪
Being out in public was usually a hit or a miss. She was so quiet that people rarely noticed her. She just didn’t stand out much...not that it bothered her. Her reflexes were usually quick enough that she could slip out of the way before anyone bumped into her. Most of the time, anyway. But for an introvert like herself, this was for the best.
With music streaming through her earbuds, she continued to enjoy the peacefulness of the scenery on her walk. It was her lunch break, so she could at least afford the time. Though now that she thought about it, she should probably get groceries on her way home--small things to hold them over until her next paycheck. They still had bread, so maybe restocking sandwich supplies.
Her finger brushed against the next button, switching the song as she made her mental list. Definitely something nutritious. Her roommate was still pretty skinny, after all. The healthier he ate, the more he wouldn’t have to worry about his height, right? It was true most of their meal plans were planned around him, even if she’d never admit it or let him figure it out.
But while her thoughts were preoccupied, she didn’t notice the other person heading her way as she continued, at least until her shoulder bumped against someone else’s, jarring her from her thoughts.
“Ah...” she remarked as she glanced at the person who had bumped into her. He looked just as awkward about the collision as she did. She pushed pause and glanced off to the side.
“Sorry...I was thinking about other stuff and didn’t see you.”

slow days || jolyne & kido
Jolyne wasn’t sure she’d ever been to an arcade for the games. In her time in the gang they had often used a local arcade as a drop point but otherwise she’d never really had the time to go to such a place, and Juvie didn’t exactly give you day passes to go play video games.
Still, she was bored, and the flashing lights of the sign had caught her attention. Stepping in she glanced around, noting that it was pretty empty for the most part. Sliding her hands into the back pockets of her shorts she made her way to the counter where a girl was sitting alone with her ipod.
“Huh, maybe. I’ve never been to one of these places before. Do you all got that game where you dance on the big board thing? That seems like it’d be pretty fun…” She asked, giving the girl a grin.
“Ahh...” A newcomer, huh? Well, she was glad for the distraction, at least. If no one had come in, she probably would have started playing games herself. Though at least bringing the novel today had been entertaining enough. Still, it wasn’t often someone completely new came in. But she would do her job.
Thankfully, the description the other had given was recognizable enough. “DDR? Yeah, we’ve got one. It’s towards the back.” She placed her bookmark in the novel and tucked it under the desk before gesturing for the other girl to follow her. She walked past the other machines and turned the corner. “It’s so there’s more room for dancing,” she explained, nodding her head at the machine.
“Just so no one accidentally whacks someone with their arm or kicks them.” Admittedly it did sound a little funny, but safety was important, especially when it came to a game like this. “You can also play against someone if you want, though it’s been pretty slow here today. But playing against the machine is interesting too.”
Not that she’d played it. She wouldn’t be caught dead on it in the event a certain someone decided to bug her at work.

✈:Our muses are on a plane together, by accident or choice. This is what happens.
She pursed her lips, feeling out of place among all the people. It was unsettling. As if sensing her discomfort, Kano gently placed his hand on her arm, all the while smiling and talking animatedly about whatever they were showing as the in-flight entertainment. Admittedly, it was a comfort, allowing her to focus on him rather than everything going on around them. Idiot. Even if he was always putting himself down...he really did have a good heart. Always looking after them like this. She sighed and let herself lace her fingers with his, cutting off his speech as he stared at her wide-eyed. “S-shut up,” she grumbled, looking out the window. “Just until we land.”
☢:It's too hot outside, how does my muse suggest our muses cool down?
Ahh...maybe they really were cursed. The two of them were currently draped across the couch while the temperature in the apartment continued to slowly grow as the day progressed. As luck would have it, their air conditioning had gone out in that section of the building. The building had already called someone in to look at it, but waiting for it to be fixed was miserable, and their skin stuck to the couch. “Kano, you’re too close...move over..” Kido grumbled. “Ehhh? Kido is the one that’s too close!” Kano whined. She resisted the urge to shove him off with her foot, being as she only had the energy to push him just a few feet. Not nearly enough to give them space. Especially considering they were already stuck.
”Say, Kano,” she began. “Why don’t we just go somewhere with air conditioning to kill time?” He shot up so fast they nearly smashed their heads together. “That’s our leader! You should have said so sooner!” He grimaced a moment later as he looked at the red marks on his arms. “Somewhere really cold.” he demanded. “You got it,” she grunted, pushing herself off the couch. In the end, the cheapest place had been the arcade. But they weren’t complaining.
ϟ:There's a storm going on and our muses are stuck together in a house- how will this go?
Kano frowned as he stared out at the pouring rain. He usually would have gone for his nightly walk about now, but he knew Kido wasn’t going to let him go out in this weather. Not to mention, he didn’t even want to go out in this weather. Worse still, their power had gone out, so it wasn’t like they could watch a movie. But Kido had had enough of his anxious pacing. After a bit of rummaging, she managed to dig out several candles, spacing them around the room and lighting them as she went. Then she dug out a flashlight and found the few board games they had.
”Kano,” she stated. No response. She rolled her eyes. “Shuuya.” Finally, that got his attention. She patted the spot across from her. “We’ll pass the time this way.” Of course, he looked around, eyes zeroing in on the candles. “My, Kido~ What a romantic atmosphere you’ve created. Are we going to eat by candlelight too?”
Instead of pinching him like she had half a mind to do, she snorted. “Sure. A romantic dinner of sandwiches.” He grinned and leaned forward. “Well, not like I’d mind that~”
☂:It's pouring down and your muse forgot their umbrella, will my muse offer up theirs?
The rain had started well after he’d left, which meant he was probably stranded somewhere. With a sigh, she slipped on her shoes and grabbed her umbrella. She found him hiding under the awning of a building, pressed as far against the wall as he could, but he was still soaked. She sighed and shook her head. “You’re soaked...Come on. Let’s go home before you get soaked.” Home. The last time they’d been out in the rain like this...that accident had happened. She swallowed hard and grabbed his hand, holding the umbrella over both their heads. It was best not to dwell on those memories so much.
✧:Our muses went to eat out- where?
Somewhere cheap, being that Kido is the only one making money. Eating out is a rare treat for them. Kano probably prefers Kido’s cooking above all else? And she’s more than happy to cook for the two of them and just enjoy a quiet night in.
★:The stars are shining beautifully and my muse wants you to see them.
Her fingers clutched at the fabric of his jacket, tugging him forward. “Come on.” A thin smirk tugged at her lips at the bewildered look on his face as she hurried him along. “Just come on.” Finally she got him to the best viewing spot and pointed up. It looked like something someone had painted. A beautiful blending of dark colors, the twinkling dots sprinkled along. She grinned at his awed gasp and turned her gaze to him. “Sometimes, the night isn’t bad, right?”
☾:It's in the middle of the night and my muse had a nightmare about yours- what does my muse do?
It was her door opening that work her up, the dim light cutting through the darkness of her room. Rubbing her eyes, she slowly sat up, squinting as her vision adjusted. She could barely make out Kano’s form in the doorway and she sighed softly. “Come in.” Wordlessly, he stepped in and shut the door behind him. Knowing him, he was probably trying to conceal how badly shaken he was. But she could guess. After all, nightmares weren’t uncommon between the two of them, especially involving each other.
Slowly, she scooted herself over, patting the space beside her. “You can stay here tonight,” she stated. He hesitated and she rolled her eyes. “Get over here. This way I can prove I’m right here.” He exhaled heavily, then slowly slid under the covers with her. Her expression softened and she set her hand on his head. “You don’t have to hide from me,” she murmured as she settled back into bed. In the morning, when she woke, she’d find his arms wrapped around her, his face pressed tightly into the crook of her neck. Well...she could allow it this once.
☼:The sun is shining bright and your muse got the bright idea of going out, does my muse agree with this?
Kido grimaced and glanced up from her magazine at his suggestion. “...It’s my day off...What’s wrong with spending it here?” He gave some excuse about the weather and she sighed, looking off to the side. “What did you have in mind, anyway?” When she looked back at him, she did not like the smirk on his face.
”The beach, of course~”
☄:My muse is lost, luckily there is cellphone reception- does my muse dare to call yours for help?
Kido furrowed her brows, surveying her surroundings. Ah, she must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. She didn’t recognize this part of town. She sighed and checked her phone. There was only one person she knew that was sure to have wandered all over the city on his nightly walks. There was no hesitation in pressing his name on her list of contacts. Even if he couldn’t come get her, he could at least guide her verbally.
♤:Our muses are playing a game, which kind and who is winning?
She was sprawled across the couch, while he’d made himself comfortable on the floor, propped up on a pillow. “Oi, open your gates,” she called, nudging his shoulder with her foot. “Ehhh, Kido’s in such a hurry to come see me, huh?~” Her cheeks flushed and she swung at him, and he laughed, ducking his head. “Just give me a minute, I have to drop this fossil off at my museum and then I’ll open them. Did you need fruit or something?”
”Ah, no..I just wanted to visit Mitzi.” A grin twitched at her lips at his indignant cry. “How mean! It’s my town! Why doesn’t Kido want to visit for me?!” He scowled. She snorted, grinning down at him. “Relax. I’ve got something I want to give you.” His eyes lit up. “Waaah~! Leader has a present for me? Alright!”
A moment later, she nudged him again. “....why do you remember to weed your town and not clean the bathroom.”
☻:Your muse got sunburnt, my muse didn't- how'd it happen and how'll mine help?
He was currently hunched over on the floor of their living room, tensed since every movement made his sunburn sting. Thankfully, she’d had the foresight to buy aloe before they’d gone, and she’d even helped him with sunscreen before he’d gone in the water. But he probably hadn’t waited nearly as long as she should. “Hold still.” She ordered as she began to gently rub the aloe into his back. “U-uuu....it’s not fairrr...Kido was wearing my hoodie the whole time, why am I the only one burnt!” Though they both knew he’d given it to her to hide her scar and because it was lighter than her own.
”Next time, wait as long as I tell you to.” Still, it wasn’t so bad. It wasn’t just the aloe, but Kido’s hands were pretty soothing too.
♒:Our muses are at the beach together, by accident or not, and yours was a bit too close to the waves- will my muse laugh or perhaps be helpful?
She stared as the wave knocked his feet right out from under him, in the process of teasing her. She couldn’t help but laugh as he tumbled over before he rose from the water, dripping wet. “Tsubomi wants to laugh at me, huh?! Well~!” He grinned savagely as she tried to calm her laughter..but then his arms circled around her waist and her laughter died instantly. With some effort, he managed to haul her to the water, even as she protested. “H-Hold it!” She exclaimed, kicking her feet. Really, he couldn’t hoold her for long, but he managed to drag her into deep enough water just before he fiinally had to let go and she promptly fell. She sputtered and spat out a mouthful of saltwater and scowled up at him. “Oh, you’re in for it now.”
♦:Your muse asked mine to marry them, what's my muse's reaction?
Honestly, she’d never really given it thought. They were always together. Wasn’t that being married technically anyway? But still, she wasn’t expecting him to pull out that ring, to get down on one knee and actually voice the question. He wanted to be with her. Despite everything, he still wanted to be by her side. But then again, they’d always been inseparable, hadn’t they? Kido swallowed hard and she could tell he was nervous. She tried to hold back the tears and pressed her hand to her mouth, managing only a nod. His relief was instant, and he surged up to wrap her in his arms. They could be happy. They’d make their own happiness...together.
◊:Your muse comes to mine, crying, how does my muse react?
She knew it. She’d always known. He always took things on by himself, always acted like nothing was wrong. He tried so hard to mask it, dealing with things on his own so he wouldn’t worry anyone. But she knew. She always knew when he was lying. When he was hiding something. She knew him the best, after all. And now, here he was, spilling everything and crying. He probably expected her to yell at him, to hit him for lying. But instead, she wrapped her arms around him, resting her forehead on his shoulder. “It’s okay, Shuuya. I’m here. You’re not alone,” she murmured softly, rubbing his back. She’d always be here.
✘:Scars aren't very pretty- my muse has to show you theirs.
”Why did you want to see it...? You’ve seen it before..” She murmured, cheeks flushed a faint shade of pink as she stood with her back to him. It ran across her neck and partly her shoulder before sweeping down across the shoulder blade and to the middle of her back. An eternal reminder of that night, even though she’d never get an answer as to why it happened. Not that it was that big a deal. The only one she’d cared about in that house had been her sister.
His fingertips brushed against the mottled skin. He could still remember when it had been a vibrant pink--still new. Now it was a pale white, discolored against her skin. She stiffened, trying not to shudder and he moved in closer, tentatively pressing his lips to the part on her neck. “Because...I want to remind Tsubomi that she’s still beautiful...no matter what.” Her cheeks turned even redder and she sighed. “...honestly, you...”
✦:My muse was attacked but yours saved them- how'll my muse ever thank them?
He was still shaking, still angry. Never mind he’d completely dented the trash can knocking that creep out, but no matter how angry he was, the fear on Kido’s face brought him back to his senses. His hand curled around her fist and he tugged her out of the room. He wasn’t the only one shaking though. They both knew that if she’d gotten the chance, she could have downed him with a punch, but that chance hadn’t come. He was just glad he’d been nearby.
“Well...now that I saved Tsubomi, what do I get as a reward?” he joked, trying to lighten the tension, to relax her. She only hugged him tightly. “Sorry...let me hold you a bit longer..” she murmured. His cheeks flushed, eyes wide, but he accepted. Honestly, her safety was thanks enough..
✘:Scars aren't very pretty- my muse has to show you theirs.
“Why are you so curious...?” She grimaced, glancing off to the side. A majority of the scar was on her back, but she wasn’t about to remove any of her protective layers. Heaving a sigh, she unzipped the high collar of her hoodie, pulling it aside and turning her head to reveal the faint traces of stark white against her skin.
Even if her sister had pushed her out of the way, she’d still had to bear some of the heat. “There. Satisfied?” she continued, yanking the zipper back up. It was always covered for a reason, after all.
♤:Our muses are playing a game, which kind and who is winning?
For whatever reason, she was stuck playing a game of chess, and certainly her lack of skill was showing. Even if she was a leader...a game like this was definitely beyond her grasp. Even saying she had never played before did little to dissuade the other but the end of the match came before she knew it..
Honestly, she’d been doing terribly. A sigh left her lips as she sank back in her seat. “Do you get it?” she asked. “I told you I’ve never played before.”

♤: Our muses are playing a game, which kind and who is winning?
Her fingers tapped at the buttons, timing her moves expertly. She kept her gaze focused on the screen, tracking the opponent’s moves and countering when necessary. Some moves failed, leaving her open to moves. Before she knew it, she was getting low on health, but at least she was tied with the other.
A smirk tugged at her lips as she finally unleashed her special attack. That was another win under her belt. Though he seemed frustrated--they were still tied though, a victory each.
“Last round decides the winner. You want to press your luck?”
☎
☎:For a drunk phone call.
She couldn’t help but snicker, pressing her hand over her mouth as she tried to keep the laughter in. Kano sat across from her, trying desperately not to burst into laughter as much as she was. The idea had been to get just buzzed enough and then make prank calls--and this was only to celebrate the small raise Kido had gotten.
Then, a voice answered on the other line and Kido stilled, Kano looking on eagerly. The teen cleared her throat and then spoke, using a deeper voice. “Excuse me...but is your ..pfft..I-is your refrigerator running?” Her partner in crime nearly choked on his laughter. Kido’s lips twitched in a grin as her voice cracked, returning to her normal tone as the laughter threatened to take over. “T-then you had better go catch it!” She declared and hung up abruptly as the two descended into wild laughter.
“K-Kiiidooooo! That was terrible! I can do way better than that!”
There would be much regret in the morning.

☢:It's too hot outside, how does my muse suggest our muses cool down?
Ahh...summer really was a force to be reckoned with, wasn’t it? And yet, she was the one consistently wearing a hoodie no matter what the weather was. It was sentimental though, a gift she’d never get rid of--and wear constantly. After all, it was a memento--it gave the same kind of feeling she got whenever she saw a red muffler. Still, she wasn’t oblivious to the looks she was getting. Well, she wasn’t about to take her jacket off no matter what. There were other solutions to keeping cool.
Tilting her head to look at the other over her shoulder. “Oi, how about some ice cream?” As long as it didn’t melt immediately in the summer heat anyway.
♒
♒:Our muses are at the beach together, by accident or not, and yours was a bit too close to the waves- will my muse laugh or perhaps be helpful?
That had definitely been a bigger wave than she’d thought it’d be--the wake of that speedboat shouldn’t have been that big, right? Maybe they were just going way faster than they should have been. Whatever reason, she’d definitely just watched someone get taken out by that wave. She spared herself the laughter, choosing instead to smile wryly at the situation, but then she moved in to help, extending her hand to the disgruntled female.
“You alright?”
