YAAAYYYY SOMEONE ASKED ABOUT MY OC!!!

That’s a good question!!!

Nalin has a strained relationship with Gerudo Town. Ultimately, she feels a deep love for it because she was raised there, but she isn’t particularly interested in combat. She weasled her way out of seeing any real combat by offering to do the more tedious work during her conscription (she cleaned weapons, tended to the injured, etc). Nalin is also very cynical and she’s not exactly the nicest person to be around. Those two things make her sort of an outlier among the Gerudo, who are generally very respectful to each other.

After serving in the army, she decides to take up painting as her full-time career… except there’s not really anyone in Gerudo Town who’s willing to buy her artwork. She sells only a couple of pieces to people interested in her portrait art before everyone seems to collectively lose interest. One day, a Hylian vai visiting Gerudo Town on vacation (another one of my OCs, who’s basically my self insert lol) buys one of her pieces and tells her that she could make a lot of money selling her artwork to non-Gerudo.

Even if she’s never felt like she truly belonged, Nalin never really had any desire to leave Gerudo Town (she loves the hot climate, the food, and the security), but she eventually decides that if she wants to be a real artist, she has to expand her horizons. Non-Gerudo are interested in her artwork because it shows a glimpse into the secretive Gerudo culture, and she quickly finds success while traveling. She visits every major region before settling down (I haven’t decided where I want her to live permanently, I’m thinking Hateno Village?) including spending a lot of time in Rito Village— where she came to realize she really loves the snow. She finds the Gorons deeply fascinating, even if they’re not really patrons of the arts.

Every once in a while, she visits Gerudo Town to restock on paints and supplies, and while she’s there, she always makes time to see Isha. She’s got a terrible crush on Isha (the jeweler from BOTW and TOTK). Isha was her only real friend during her time in Gerudo Town, and she’s so beautiful, and similarly artistically-inclined. Nalin’s too scared to make the first move, and besides, she’s pretty sure Isha only likes voe. (I headcanon Isha as straight, and that Nalin eventually settles down with a Hylian vai. She gets over her crush on Isha and they remain close friends). I imagine she’s married by the time of TOTK, and that she and her wife have two children together (through surrogacy— her wife is the one to give birth, and since they’re both boys, there’s no need for them to return to Gerudo Town during adolescence).

Nalin only wears her traditional Gerudo attire when she’s in Gerudo Town or Goron City. Since she feels no attraction to men, and was raised in an all-woman city, she feels deeply uncomfortable around them. Instead, she opts for Hylian clothing (that must be specially made to account for her 7-foot-tall height) because she gets less unwanted attention that way. Non-Gerudo also tend to ask her more questions when she’s in Gerudo attire, and quite frankly, she hates talking to people about anything that isn’t related to her art.
