Started listening to night vale after Cecil won and Iām sure him falling in love Carlos at first sight was very impactful if you were 14 and gay in 2013 but literally all I could I think during that moment is that this man is on a public radio station. Literally EVERYONE can hear him. Get a diary or something man Grindr is free š does he even have a script or is he just saying shit
I am sorry but. Did you truly expect Cecil WTNV to be normal about things

Since people are talking about Goncharov again I just had to share one of the best gems in my collectionāI still canāt believe they actually made a Katya doll (and in THIS outfit omg) but sheās just stunning. Now if only they made an Andrey doll too šš
To explain The Goblin Problem and not go on a tag rant on someone else's reblog, I will explain it in the nutshell.
The Goblin Problem is when a story establishes a group of creatures to serve as recurrent antagonists (not necessarily all one species; in a lot of rpg games this can broadly apply to "monsters") THAT:
Are never negotiable, or the negotiable parties among them are Token Heroic Orcs- that is to say, they are seen as objectors or 'good' versions who have absolutely no connections to, and hold no objections toward you attacking, the rest of their brethren, who they have forsaken as the price to be paid for being good.
Have obvious unique technology; they may attack you with weapons found nowhere else in the game, demonstrate the ability to speak, have their own obvious language, tame a creature that nobody else tames so that it's thus impossible that they are stealing already-tamed specimens from someone else
Are characterized primarily or exclusively as raiders who attack others, with the justification this means they are inferior creatures parasitically dependent on Good, Civilized Settings, e.g. they cannot possibly be sustainably hunting, gathering, or practicing either nomadic or settled agriculture.
Are often defined as having no choice to be evil or are created by a greater evil to serve as thralls, and yet, will not under any circumstances be regarded as indoctrinated victims, or if that is mentioned, there will nonetheless be an overarching lack of narrative concern as to where or how the survivors should live after the greater evil is taken care of, or if effort should be made to challenge the indoctrination and give them the ability to choose their lives.
What this ultimately creates is that they are unambiguously people, who obviously check all the marks of sapience, who are quite possibly wearing clothes, but the goblin or orc exists as a stopgap. You want your fantasy hero to get into a swordfight but you don't want him to kill another human being. So you invent something that wields a sword but is in some way "not a person", which is senseless. Unless you want the nature of this swordfight to be that a chimpanzee picked up a knife, at which point they are not going to use reliable sword techniques.
scars in fiction: I got this trying to save my lover from an assassin- but tragically, I was too late. now I carry the mark of my failure with me always, and I can never forget~
scars in real life:Ā so I was trying to open macaroni sauce with a paring knife
Tell me how you got your scars in the tags
Late night thoughts ( Part 2 to that last late night thoughts) #kittycatandmanlyman
Okay so as promised (threatened), here are the specific things I leaned about was being "Catholic" that I vibe with:
Purgatory - the idea of a place where you weren't evil but also weren't "saved" and so, you go to an in-between. I think that the possibility of rising up from Purgatory into Paradise is from Dante, but it is nonetheless part of my ideology. It's not a Catholic idea but I also do not believe in Hell/Punishment as eternal. (Hell is also separate from Punishment in my personal ideology for Reasons)
Confession, Penance & Forgiveness - the idea of sharing your mistakes/Sins with another person and being given a task to make up for those mistakes and that once you have, you're forgiven? I think this is very good. Protestantism lacks this, from how I was taught. Which I think is part of why Protestants are so fucking weird about sin and trying to obsessively avoid it instead of seeing sin as something you do sometimes and then try to make amends for. It's not a permanent stain, just a mistake that you can undo.
Works - the idea that your behavior on Earth influences what happens to your Soul when you die. Hate the Born Again type narrative where if you've Accepted Christ as Lord & Savior you're going to heaven. Well why is sin still wrong then? What reason does anyone have to be good? (I am good not bc of some promised reward, mind you, but Evangelicals especially seem to have no interest in actually doing good and I think the threat of going to hell if they continue to be assholes would be beneficial).
The Virgin Mary - I love her, I think she deserves to be revered and loved. End of.
I think that's most of it. Also love the Saints and the idea of there being like, heavenly secretaries. Love that shit.
/* Purgatory isn't an 'in-between place' in Catholicism where people who are not 'saved' go to. All people are seen as having sinned and sin cannot enter Heaven so people who are 'saved' first go through Purgatory (which may be but also may not necessarily be a place but more like a state/process, what with it not being a 'destination' in itself) to, as the name suggests, 'purge' their sins so they can enter Heaven. Heaven is still the final destination.
This idea of purgatory also predates Dante's works as far as I am aware so 'rising up from Purgatory into Paradise' did not originate from him. I am fairly certain this concept of Purgatory was formalised as far back as the 12th century. */
The idea I think OP meant to refer to is ālimboā! The way they described it is pretty much spot-on for limbo, not for purgatory. Limbo is a lesser-known aspect of catholic theologyāitās generally considered to be where unbaptized infants and anyone whoās never heard of god but lived a decent life anyway ends up.
Purgatory itself is indeed the non permanent transition state after death and before heaven, and is generally considered to be a truly awful experienceāyour sins are supposed to be āburned awayā so that youāll be pure enough to enter heaven. yuck.
(I am not Catholic, but was raised as such)

tubi is one of our greatest warriors in the fight against streaming services costing a fortune for mediocre content. tubi has the most insane collection of movies you will ever encounter all for free. it has cult classics and questionable lifetime movies and movies that nobody except like three people on the planet have ever seen. tubi has movies that doesnāt exist. like if you just thought of a movie one day but never made it and no one ever made it it would somehow still exist on tubi. one day i will log onto tubitv dot com and i will see terribly inappropriate, overly complex, and strange on there. and i wonāt even be surprised.
Tubi is where I found this gem:
I wonder if non-fundamentalist-Christians know that there is actually one sin that supposedly god will never forgive you for but nobody knows exactly what it is and thereās a lot of theories but if you examine the textual evidence itās incredibly vague and unclear so basically you could be doomed to damnation forever with absolutely no hope of forgiveness for this one thing except nobody agrees on what this one thing is. Itās called āsinning against the Holy Spiritā but what the fuck does that even mean
I just think thatās very funny actually
btw you should absolutely read stuff you don't agree with. you should think critically about it. you should reflect and find different stimuli and maybe even form your own thought based on or opposed to it. ideas aren't contagious and reading words someone else has told you are "bad" won't infect you like a virus and make you "evil". read with your own brain.
No no that will happen. Like. Reading words and doing your best to either incorporate them or abandon them is fine, but read enough nazi propoganda and you will have nazi thoughts in there somewhere. Dont assume you're this impenetrable fortress of morality. Be careful with ideas you know are bad for you
If you think that Nazi propaganda will easily influence you, then youāre basically telling us your morals are nonexistent, and youāre not smart enough to criticize something you think is wrong.
If the statement āread enough nazi propoganda and you will have nazi thoughts in there somewhereā were true, then it would have to be the case that everyone who has intensively studied said propaganda, the ideologies surrounding it, the politics underpinning it, and the individual proponents of it, for academic purposes of any kind, regardless of their background or moral fibre, are now āinfectedā with these ānazi thoughtsā and that these thoughts and the knowledge of these subjects has damaged their morality and their inherent sense of themselves and how they think and feel as decent, critically thinking individuals.
In essence, by that flawed logic, every historian interested in that subject, for instance, would take leave of their senses (both generally and their sense of self) eventually and start believing the propaganda they are studying or at the very least start to sympathise with it on some level.
Since that is obviously not the case, and we also know that in fact the opposite can be true - namely that censorship very often leads to mass ignorance of the nuances of a subject which in turn leads to the vicious and dangerous spread of bigotry, misinformation, and violent, ignorant action carried out by the misinformed and fearful victims of said censorship - and also that knowledge of a thing and its nuances is the best way to clarify oneās moral grasp of the subject and respond to it in all its forms when one meets it in reality, which is to say the more we know about something bad, what makes it bad, what happened to allow the bad thing, and what the bad consequences of the bad thing are, the less likely we are to actually start doing the bad thing, we must conclude that in fact and as the old saying goes, it is as well to know what tune the Devil is playing, or you may end up dancing to it by mistaking it for Angelic Song.
Also holy shit part of the reason why itās so important to read stuff you morally disagree with and think about why you disagree with it is because otherwise what will happen when you see people saying horrible things all the time? If reading nazi propaganda makes you think nazi thoughts, what will happen if nazi propaganda starts being disseminated by the government/our culture and becomes unavoidable? If you havenāt already engaged with it enough to be able to understand why you disagree with it and go āyes I know everyone is saying this but they are wrong and hereās why,ā what happens then?
my town has people outside the library protesting because of the ābanned books weekā display in the library. Because we still support banning books from public libraries here, apparently.
It really does feel sometimes like weāre a hairsbreadth away from slipping into a conservative Republican dystopia and I want out
If I have to hear one more person make a rude offhand comment about my wearing an N95 mask, thatās clearly meant to be loud enough to be overheard by me, I will commit murder in this general store istg

I figured out another way to explain my relationship with gender and itās the relationship between someone whose clothes all came from thrift stores when they were a kid (like me) has with upper middle class mall-shopping suburbanites who went to Build-a-Bear every month and had a party thrown with lots of party supplies for every birthday
Like, thatās great and good for you and I donāt resent that some people get to have that experience but that was never mine and itās never been something I could lay claim to. And I build my own experiences and life story out of what Iāve been given sure and it has just as much worth but itās never going to be the same.
Thatās my relationship to gender roles basically lmao
