“Sorry Palpatine. Looks like you have-” He let out a rattling cough, wincing in pain. “To find another Vader.” He joked weakly.

“I don’t think-” Another bloody cough. “There’s anything.” He said softly. “Just. Stay with me?”

“Way to... Stay positive.” He remarked, eyes closing a little at Charlie’s gentle touch. “Sounds good.” The witch replied weakly.

“I can’t feel it.” He told her, his voice cracking, tears pricking at his eyes. He couldn’t feel the magic in his veins. Something was blocking him, he wished he knew what, or at least why. If he was going to die, why couldn’t he at least feel that hum, the connection to the earth and the moon. “I can’t feel my magic.”

“Can’t help it.” He wheezed. “Something... Can’t heal. No magic.” He told her, coughing up more blood. She was okay. She’d find Tristan. He wouldn’t. Something he was still trying to come to terms with. “Glad you’re here.” The witch said, his breathing shallow and erratic.

Kenzie. Oh, thank gods. She looked to be mostly intact, except for the sort of shaken up look on her face. She didn’t even ask him, stop to really think as she bit into her wrist. He didn’t have time to protest, barely enough time to move as she tried to feed him her blood, the witch turning his head just in time to avoid it. “Kenz. Mackenzie.” He cried out weakly. “Stop.” He wheezed. He couldn’t do it. Couldn’t take the blood. If he died anyways, if the healing didn’t work, he couldn’t live as a vampire. He’d rather die a witch, here amidst the chaos, at least feeling in control of himself. He wasn’t sure it would be the same if he turned. “Don’t do this.” Godfrey told the vampire, tired, his voice thick with pain.

“Didn’t-” Godfrey coughed up a mouthful of blood, his head dropping back on the hard ground. “Realize you cared so much.” He eked out, his breathing erratic and shallow, too out of it to pay attention to the spell she was trying to use.

Godfrey sighed a little when Cassidy gave in and lay with him, fighting to move reluctant muscles to hold her close to him, wrapping his arms around her in the strongest embrace he could muster, which admittedly wasn’t much. He let out a sob at her words, kissing the top of her head. “I don’t want to go.” He whispered again, even as his eyes closed, too tired to keep them open. One more deep breath, taking in Cassidy’s familiar smell, blocking out the fumes of the explosion, the dig of the rocks into his back, the dull throbbing in his abdomen, trying to pretend they were in the apartment, drifting off to sleep. “Be good. I love you.” He said before his heart finally stopped.

“Don’t give up, okay? Gotta have faith that you’ll make it through.” Every part of her was beyond upset about this. Beyond upset that Godfrey was dying. A person who could have ended up being friends with her.

“I’ve seen enough death to know when it’s coming.” He said, his voice pained.

“I don’t know.” He mumbled. The witch didn’t know. He wanted company, but he wanted Savannah, Mackenzie, Cassidy, Shane, his dad, a whole litany of people that weren’t here. The friendly face was some comfort, but not the one he sought.

“You know it’s useless.” Godfrey said softly, too weak to pull Cassidy to him like he wanted to. He wanted to hold her, or be held by her, desperately seeking closeness as he neared the end, but staying with her, here was taking any energy he had left. “Be honest with the ones you love.” He told her. “Listen to your advice sometimes.” Another shaky, rattling breath. “You lived without me for a long time. You can do it.” He told her, struggling to keep his eyes open. He could almost hear his heart slowing, and the witch wondered if Cassidy actually could hear it.

More tears formed in her eyes as she laughed weakly. “Now isn’t the time to joke around.” In all of her years living, Noelle never once thought that something like this would have happened. If anything, she had thought the night would end on a good note. She would have had fun, made some new friends and went home happy. That wasn’t the case now.Hearing his comment on the bombs, she only nodded in agreement on them being new.

“Not like I’ll have any other time.” He was trying to put up a false front. The idea of death terrified him. Dying with so much left unfinished, unsaid, unknown, joking was the only way he could cope.

“If you aren’t healing... Not worth it.” He coughed. “Don’t want to risk... Losing control if I turn.”

“Hang on, for me, okay?”   It didn’t take long for her to give up on holding back the tears. The last time she had even been near someone who probably wouldn’t make it was when her sister died.  "Never expected this to happen. “ Slipping off the jacket she had on, she used it to wipe up the blood that he was coughing up.

“Trying not to die.” He tried to joke. The witch even would have saluted her, if he wasn’t too exhausted and in too much pain to do so. "The bombs are new." He commented drily, his voice weaker and quieter.

“I’m a lost cause.” He wheezed. “No need to sugarcoat it. If you can’t heal, a witch can’t save me, and it’s too late for human medicine.”
