Bloernish pup detail work.
Think like toddler age for the Bloern. Mobile but still clumsy and stupid.
Made myself some polymer clay hinge heads! A tiny frog and a pair of mini mushshrooms!
(Please ignore my jacked up unfinished wall and door. My house is old and falling apart)
Was thinking about conjoined twin reptiles lately, and it made me think about how some of my fictional species might be affected by being born/hatched with body differences. Here are some examples of how one of my sophonts, Thitherians, might appear if they hatch as conjoined twins. Obviously, they vary based on what stage of development they began to separate. I didn't include it the physical drawing, but the later separation pair (pictured in the second image) would likely have similar balance/posture issues as the "two headed" pair in the first image, and thus would likely benefit from a similar mobility aid. The middle pair of fused legs may also be weakened, depending on their specific anatomy, and so they may also benefit from a or a pair of custom braces for added support. (Note, the mobility aid pictured in the first image on the left is still being developed and has changed to have 3 wheels since I drew it here several days ago.)
Flippy flappy boys are coming along.

Uh oh, I'm designing a new sophont species again.
These ones fly (their wings are the flaps on their back in the third image)
They're still gonna change a lot as these are my first solid sketches of them.
Let me know your suggestions for names! I've just been calling them "gastropod dragons" so far.
While reworking my college thesis project (The Bloern), and working on my other two sophont species (The Lirri and Thitherians), I decided to make this little size comparison chart. Don't ask me how tall any of them actually are, I do not know yet lmao. Just know that Thitherians tall and Bloern small.
I’ve never been more excited for a bug

it’s a tragedy that dinotopia was adapted as a weird gritty looking tv movie with bad cgi when it’s, without exaggeration, the most ghibli any book has ever been
hmm
It’s high time for a new Dinotopia adaptation (with updated, accurate dinosaurs, as James Gurney would want, of course)
HIGH TIME
friend omg, you are in the lucky 10,000 today because the book is a *joy*
don’t think like, a novel, think like a coffee table book that’s framed like an actual informative guide to the actual place Dinotopia
it’s filled with scrawled notes and observations and gorgeous art from the point of view of a newcomer fascinated by the culture and science and history of this island
it’s so, so cool
do you remember the first horror movie you watched?
no
maybe? not sure?
yes and it was…(tell us in the tags)

were you alive when britney spears released “…baby one more time”? (september 29, 1998)
yes (put how old you were in the tags if you’re comfortable)
no i had not been born yet
that is the day i was born (you are the chosen one)
so fucking evil that i don’t have the jagged pointy cartoon teeth that fit together like triangles. i deserve them
a simple purple wormdog
Did this fun challenge where I designed a creature with randomized traits! This one's traits were: Land animal, mountain environment, deer-sized, specialist herbivore, produces a substance to feed young, and has external ears. I might have to do more of these challenges, as it was very fun!
sweet angel babyyyy (is literally half wrath demon)

The Milt Kahl Head Swaggle (Source: Cartoon Brew)
I love it when you can pick up an animator’s quirks.
I’ve read in old interviews with Milt Khal’s fellow animators that he did the swaggle to purposefully show off. Moving the head in 3-d space is an exceptionally hard thing to do but Khal upped the level of difficulty to a place many animators wouldn’t go. Not only are they all doing the swaggle you’ll notice they are all TALKING while they are doing it. This is back in the days where you had to use a timing sheet to pace your animation and a head swaggle doesn’t work if its too slow or too fast so he had to figure out the right speed so it looked natural while the character finishes what they have to say while not interfering with the distinct mouth shapes. Not only did Khal do it without any shifting weight problems or timing issues he would often do it while moving the rest of the body. This isn’t his signature move just because he was good at it.This is his signature move because he was one of the only people skilled enough to DO IT AT ALL.
Milt Khal was a MASTER.
