Giovanni exhibits a whole new level of assholery in the 2019 Mewtwo Returns manga.

The 3rd chapter of the Mewtwo Returns (2019) manga begins with Mewtwo rescuing the group of his clones that decided to leave Mt. Quena from being captured by Team Rocket. The story largely follows the plot of the animated special episode Mewtwo Returns from 2000 up to this point.
In the animated special, Giovanni captures the other half of Mewtwo’s clones back on his island base and uses them as leverage to get Mewtwo to surrender himself. Which he ultimately does.
Giovanni uses two mechanical devices designed to ensnare Mewtwo and torture him to break his will.
The manga changes this part up a bit. Gone are the two machines. In the comic, Giovanni seems to offer Mewtwo the same exchange: Mewtwo’s servitude for his clones’ safety.
But this time with a new sick twist.
….And that’s where chapter 3 ends. Mewtwo, back in the original armor that enslaved him to the man he hates the most.
