Rule #2: Keep it low-profile so your quiet college life stays ruined-reputation-free.
Rule #3: Never fall for the campus heartbreaker.
You’ve played by the rules for a few months, keeping your friends-with-benefits deal with Jeon Jungkook strict and secret. But what will you do when your alarm goes off at 7:00 AM on the morning of a major exam, and he’s still passed out in your bed with zero intention of sneaking out?
ᴳᵉⁿʳᵉ : College AU, Fwb-to-Lovers, Fluff & Intimacy, conffesion (featuring an insufferably clingy boyfriend-to-be).
ᵂᵃʳⁿⁱⁿᵍˢ : Sleep-deprived Jungkook being a menace · kissing, biting etc · Over-the-clothes touching & zero respect for personal space · Playful teasing & casual vulgarity · Light angst regarding college reputation · Complete academic sabotage (he does not care about your exam).
The obnoxious yell of your alarm tears through the quiet of your dorm room like a siren. You drag a hand across your cheek, wiping away a streak of drool before blindly reaching across the mattress and swiping at the red button, silencing the torture.
With a groan, you decide that adulting is a scam and prepare to flop onto your other side to execute a solid fifteen minutes of blissful procrastination.
You roll over. You open your eyes. Then you immediately blink, squinting through the morning blur to get a clearer picture, because something is definitely not right today.
Jeon Jungkook is completely passed out on his stomach right next to you.
He’s buried deep under your girlish, baby pink duvet, occupying 75% of your bed without a single care in the world. His face is turned toward you, pillow-smushed and framed by a chaotic nest of messy dark hair. His back muscles are completely relaxed in slumber, and he isn't wearing a shirt.
Which is entirely your fault, considering you're currently drowning in his oversized T-shirt, stolen off your floor after your intense midnight make-out session. (Strictly because you just love the smell of his stupidly good fuckboy cologne.)
You stare down at him, your brain running through a mental checklist of things that are wildly off:
1. It’s morning.
2. Lectures start in an hour.
3. Jeon Jungkook is still here.
4. Jeon Jungkook is never still here in the morning when lectures start in an hour.
Normally, Jungkook is a ghost by now. He has a habit of sneaking out before the sun comes up, mostly because he has a reputation to uphold; Campus "fuckboy," heartbreaker, guy-who-doesn't-do-mornings. And honestly, you’ve been more than fine with that arrangement. If the girls down the hall caught him slipping out of your room, you’d never hear the end of it and your low-profile college existence would be officially over.
Yet here he is. Looking stupidly peaceful.
"Jungkook," you hiss, jabbing your finger directly into his exposed shoulder blade. "Jeon. Get up."
He groans, and lazily swats your hand away, then he turns his head slightly, burying his face deeper into your pillow without opening an eye.
"Jungkook, I'm serious," you mutter. "I'm trying to save us from a social disaster,"
He doesn't answer. You look down at him, your gaze tracing the softness of his sleepy face when he isn't trying to look cool and shit. Your eyes eventually settle on the tiny mole just beneath his bottom lip.
Without thinking, you reach out. Your index finger lightly presses against the brown spot.
Jungkook doesn't pull away. Instead, his lashes flutter, a tiny, subconscious smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as your fingertip lingers there. He shifts slightly, sliding one arm around your waist and dragging you back down into the center of the bed until your hip is pressed flush against his side.
Positioned a bit higher on the mattress, your chest sits just above his head. He buries his face directly into your stomach, nuzzling into the cotton of his own tee. The sudden movement sends a flurry of butterflies straight to your belly, catching your breath in your throat for a sharp second.
"Hey," you protest weakly, though you let yourself be pulled into his warmth. "I mean it. You're supposed to be gone."
"Five minutes," he grunts.
"No," you say firmly, trying to ignore the way your pulse rises. "I am not falling for this. If you are so exhausted, go back to your own bed."
"M'not that tired," he lies smoothly.
"Right," you deadpan, rolling your eyes as your fingers naturally drift up to run through his messy hair. "You can barely talk."
"I can talk fine,"
"You're not even fully awake," you point out, as your fingers tug gently at the roots of his hair.
He finally squints one eye open, looking up at you through a mop of unruly curls, and flashing you a lazy smirk. It's the exact look that usually gets him whatever he wants. The playboy look.
"I'm awake enough to do other things," he murmurs, his hand sliding down from your waist to grip your hip firmly, his thumb digging into the bone through the fabric.
Your fingers freeze in his hair. You look down at him, your cheeks warming. "You're stupid," you murmur, completely flustered and hating how effortlessly he does this to you.
Jungkook just gives you a knowing smile, and shifts slightly, tilting his head to press a kiss right over your covered stomach. He then pulls back just enough to look up at you, his dark eyes hooded and still heavy with sleep.
"You stress too much, Y/N"
"That's because you stress me out,"
He chuckles sending a vibration directly against your body. You are melting into the mattress, and you both know it. Shifting his weight, he pushes up onto his hands, moving effortlessly to hover entirely over you, blocking out the pale morning light creeping through the blinds with his shoulders. He dips his head, pressing a open-mouthed kiss to your exposed collarbone.
"I can make you relax real well, too," he teases, his breath fanning hot over your skin as his lips trace up the column of your neck.
"No need," you gasp out, trying to push at his chest, but your weak protest is entirely ignored.
Jungkook drops his head lower, and a embarrassing sound escapes your throat as he lightly nips the sensitive skin right where your neck meets your shoulder. His hand slides all the way up your ribs, slipping his fingers beneath the hem of the shirt, his palm finding your bare skin and pushing upwards to firmly cup your breast.
You feel dizzy instantly when his thumb brushes over you. God, he's so good at this. Of course he is. He's Jeon Jungkook. Someone that shouldn't be here.
You get lost in the sensation. In the way his mouth latches onto the sweet spot of your neck. His tongue licks over your skin before his lips create a heavy suction, marking you. You know full well he is leaving a hickey there; claiming you in a way a casual hookup shouldn't be allowed to. You will have to hide the mark with concealer and collared shirts for the next five days. But right now, as his teeth lightly drag over the bruised skin, you can't even find the energy to care. You tangle your hands back into his hair, gripping the strands tightly as your eyes slip shut.
You never, ever thought you would end up like this with him. If someone had told you six months ago that you would be risking your entire quiet college existence to become just another body count for Jungkook, you would have laughed in their face.
But look at you being a breathless mess beneath him, completely dismantled as he uses his mouth and hands to manipulate you into staying in this bed forever. Jungkooks lips are hot, dragging down your jaw to bruise the junction of your neck once more, making your toes curl into the sheets.
But enough is enough.
Gathering whatever little willpower you have left, your fingers tighten around his hair, giving a forceful tug that pulls his head back, forcibly pulling his mouth away from your skin, stopping him from continuing to abuse your neck.
"Ah," Jungkook whines softly at the sharp pull on his scalp. He blinks up at you, his lips swollen, and slick from kissing your neck. "What?"
"That's it," you declare. "No more. I have an exam first class today."
Jungkook’s brow furrows, his head resting heavily against your chest as he groans in protest. "Fuck the exam."
"I am not fucking the exam, Jungkook," you hold his face back by his hair so he can't bury it back into your neck. "I spent the entire week studying until two in the morning for this. I am not about to miss it because you're feeling lazy."
He rolls his dark eyes, a small, sleepy scoff escaping him. "Of course you did, nerd."
"I am not a nerd," you glare down at his insufferable face. "I just actually care about my future. Unlike some people who think they can slide through life on a leather jacket and a pretty smile."
Jungkook doesn't argue. Instead, his gaze drops from your eyes down to your parted lips, taking his sweet time tracing the flushed skin of your jawline down to the fresh hickey he just left on your neck. You narrow your eyes at him, sensing the trouble brewing in his head.
"Jungkook," you say warningly. "I mean it."
He flickers his eyes back up to yours, perfectly mimicking an innocent expression, right up until you feel his hand slide smoothly down, slipping straight beneath to the elastic band of your panties. Your eyes widen in instant panic. You yank harder on his hair, but he barely winces.
"Kook! Stop—"
"Shh," he mutters. "You're a smart girl. Your bright, shiny future isn't going to fall apart because of one stupid exam."
You try to shift away from him, to twist your hips out of his reach, but the sudden pressure of his middle finger pressing against your heat betrays you entirely. A pathetic, helpless moan escapes your throat. Your back arches involuntarily, head falling back against the pillow in surrender.
Capitalizing on your moment of weakness, Jungkook shifts his weight up, managing to press a kiss along your jawline right up to your chin while his fingers move in a intoxicating rhythm below.
"Jungkook, stop, really—I just—I just want to get good grades," you gasp out as a dizzying surge of heat rushes straight to your core.
"I know, baby," he coos against your chin. "You're such a good student. So smart...I'm so proud of you."
"You piece of shit," you manage to choke out. "You don't care about my grades... you're just trying to shut me up so I don't kick you out!"
Jungkook lets out a low laugh, unbothered by the insult because he know that it's entirely true.
Refusing to let him win this round, you reach down, wrapping your fingers firmly around his wrist and using all your strength to pull his hand away from between your legs. Recognizing the real edge of annoyance in your grip, and realizing you genuinely want to make it to class, Jungkook finally gives up. He sighs heavily, letting his hand drop uselessly onto the sheets, though he makes absolutely no effort to actually get off of you. Instead of moving, he simply collapses his entire torso flat on top of you, burying his face directly into the crook of your neck.
"You are so fucking unavailable, you know that?" he mutters with a dramatic mix of a pout and genuine exasperation. "I don't think I've ever had to compete with a syllabus before."
"Move, Jungkook," you say, giving his bare shoulder a shove that doesn't budge him even an inch. "I'm serious. Off."
"Can't we just stay like this?" he murmurs tiredly, his voice muffled against your collarbone.
"No" you say firmly. "Some of us have responsibilities."
"Responsibilities are overrated," he grumbles, his arms wrapping tightly around your waist as if physically pins you to the bed. "Just sleep in. Skip the day with me."
You sigh, resting your chin on top of his head as your hands mindlessly massage his scalp. You look down at the popular campus fuckboy, currently clinging to your waist like a giant koala in a pair of basketball shorts. You smile softly to yourself, shaking your head in total disbelief.
"You know, for a guy with a terrifyingly high body count and a strict 'no-sleeping-over' policy, you’re incredibly clingy when you're almost unconscious," you say, your voice dropping into a teasing purr. "Is this just part of your usual morning routine with everyone?"
"Not unconscious," he corrects. "And I don't do this with anyone else."
Your hand freezes in his hair for a fraction of a second before you recover your cool, dry tone. "Right. I’m sure you tell all the girls who you let steal your clothes that they're special."
Jungkook doesn't laugh like he usually does. Instead, he opens his eyes and looks up at you with an intensity that makes your stomach do a ridiculous flip.
"I don’t leave my shirts with anyone else," he says quietly, his thumb lightly trace the hem of his t-shirt collar resting over your collarbone. "And I don't stay past five in the morning."
You raise an eyebrow. "So what, you're just terrible at time management now?"
Jungkook lets out a faint sigh. He pushes himself up slightly, propping his weight on his forearms so he can hover right over your face.
"No," he mutters, his gaze dropping to your lips for a split second before locking back onto your eyes. "I like it."
"You like what? Ruining my reputation?"
"I like waking up next to you,"
"...What?"
"I like that I don't have to put on a show when I'm here. And... I don't really want to sneak out anymore."
"Jungkook," you start carefully. "We're friends. With benefits. Excellent benefits, sure, but—"
"I don't care about the label we started with," he cuts in.
Before you can pull up another defense, he shifts his weight, sliding closer until he is hovering just millimeters over your lips, trapping you in his space.
"You're joking," you whisper, trying to force out a nervous laugh, though it gets hopelessly caught in your throat. "You're sleep-deprived and delirious. You're just talking."
Jungkook doesn't get frustrated or roll his eyes. Instead, he presses a sweet peck right to the corner of your mouth, followed by another soft kiss directly to your bottom lip.
"I'm not joking, Y/N," he murmurs, his lips brushing against yours with every spoken word. He's leaning in fully, using every kiss, every lingering touch to work his way straight past your defenses, trying to capture your heart. "I haven't been joking about us for a long time."
You blink at him, your mind racing. "Right. And what about your usual crowd? I'm supposed to just forget the fact that half the university thinks you're taking a different girl home every weekend? I don't really feel like believing a guy who—"
Jungkook lets out a weary sigh, a faint scoff escaping him as he pulls back just enough to look you dead in the eye.
"I don't give a shit about other girls," he says, his dark gaze unwavering. Then, a wicked little spark flashes in his eyes as a teasing smirk tugs at his swollen lips. "Honestly? My cock doesn't even really react to anyone else anymore. It's kind of a problem."
An unexpected, loud snort erupts from your nose. "Oh wow, how romantic, Jeon." you wheeze out, your face burning a deep shade of red as you bring both hands up and shove hard against his bare chest, finally summoning the strength to sit up in bed.
Jungkook lets out a dramatic whine, but he follows your lead, propping himself up on his hip and tilting his head like an overly curious puppy, his messy fringe falling into his eyes.
Even with your back pressed against the headboard, you can't escape him. He lazily reaches out, his hand finding your thigh through the baby pink duvet, slowly massaging the soft flesh in soothing pattern.
"What?" he asks, flashing a cocky eyebrow at your red face. "Are you scared?"
"I'm not scared," you snap back defensively, wrapping your arms over your chest. "It's just... people will talk. If we do this...if we become an actual thing, the entire building will be talking about it. People are going to have opinions. Your reputation isn't exactly subtle."
"Let them talk," he says simply. "Who cares?"
You stare at him, completely at a loss for words. You look at his stupidly handsome face, the sculpted lines of his abs, and the genuine warmth in his dark eyes. As annoying as he is, and as much as he drives you insane with his lingering, his smirk, and his complete disregard for your schedule, you really do enjoy having him around.
Over the last few months, your chest had started aching with a uncomfortable sting whenever you saw him strutting down the college hallways, having to pretend he was just a stranger because of the strict 'no-strings' rule you both set. You hated not getting to talk to him. You hated watching him walk away.
Jungkook notices the shift in your eyes, reading the subtle crack in your armor like an open book. He leans in, closing the distance between you once again. His hand slides up your thigh, giving your leg a squeeze as his lips press into yours. The kiss is slow, melting away the last lingering threads of your resistance.
"So?" he murmurs between soft presses of his mouth. "You in?"
He nips at your bottom lip, dragging it gently with his teeth before releasing it with a pop. You let out a shaky breath, and taking advantage of your silence, Jungkook leans close to your ear, voice dropping into a whisper.
"Or are you really going to reject me, Y/N?" he rasps, his warm lips brushing the shell of your ear. "Gonna break my poor, fragile heart?
You pull back just enough to glare at him, your lips mere inches apart. "Says the guy who spent the last two semesters playing with half the campus's hearts."
"I won't play with yours," he answers instantly, dropping all the playful teasing, completely serious "I promise."
You look at him for a long second, taking in the genuine honesty in his doe eyes.
"Okay," you whisper softly.
Jungkook’s face instantly lights up. A triumphant smile breaks across his lips. "Okay?"
"Okay," you repeat.
Jungkook lets out a low, victorious hum, wrapping his arms around your waist and forcefully tackling you backward onto your back. You squeal as your head hits the soft pillows, the breath knocked right out of you as his massive frame settles comfortably on top of yours once again, pinning you to the mattress.
He peppers quick, affectionate kisses all over your face; your cheek, your forehead, the tip of your nose, and lastly along your collarbones.
"Good," he murmurs, supremely pleased with himself. "You're my girlfriend now," he mumbles happily against your skin. "Deal with it, nerd. Now go ahead and cancel that exam so we can sleep."

“Happy birthday, sweetheart...”
“I really needed this," He sighed, "Tour has kicked my ass and knowing I would be home with you for this was the only thing getting me through the last few weeks.”
Jungkook could feel every single ache and pain wash away as he slid into the hot tub, stomach full of the gorgeous wood-fired pizza and delicious pasta you’d ordered from his favourite local pizzeria. He swore you were an angel sent to earth, everything you did for him was heavenly, he could never find the words to tell you how much he loved you.
“You look so happy Kook,” You smiled, dropping the kimono you’d worn during dinner as Jungkook’s eyes cast across your body, luring you into the hot tub.
“Oh, I'm very happy - especially when I get to enjoy all of this… C’mere pretty girl.”
A soft giggle slipped from your lips as you grasped his hand, "Let me grab a bottle of red wine for us to share and I'll join you – Do you wanna open the one Yoongi gave you?"
"Ooo, are we entering that time of the night?" Jungkook asked suggestively as you stood up, shooting him a quizzical look.
"What do you mean?" You asked, earning a loud laugh from the tub, water splashing a little as he pulled himself up to the edge, smiling over at you with a look you knew all too well.
"As soon as you start drinking red wine, you get so frisky," He stated as if it was a well-known fact, one that you certainly weren't aware of.
"I do not!" You staunchly defended, earning another loud scoff.
"Oh, wow…" Jungkook laughed, "Yes, you do baby and I'm not complaining so let’s get drinking!" He teased as you carefully stepped into the tub, with his help of course, eyes still narrowed in annoyance.
"Okay so maybe wine makes me a little more amorous than usual but I think I'm just like that when I drink, no?" You pouted, earning yourself a pity kiss from the birthday boy.
"Red wine makes you horny and I love that about you," He teased again with a cheeky smirk on his face as you handed him the stemmed glass, "Thank yooou."
"We'll see then, won't we," You tutted, pouring two glasses of wine while Jungkook chuckled to himself.
"I already know what's gonna happen but sure," He baited with a wink as he slowly dunked his head under the water and emerged with a shake of his wild hair, sending water flying across the deck and all over you.
"You are so sure of yourself tonight."
Jungkook’s eyes skimmed across your body briefly while you claw-clipped your hair up, not wanting the hassle of having to dry it before going to bed. Secretly you knew where the night was headed, red wine or not – it was his birthday after all, but you weren't about to admit that to the man hypnotised by your every move, jaw slack from the glorious view of your cleavage.
Jungkook was a simple man.
"Well, I am the birthday boy after all so I reserve the right to be cocky once a year, yeah?" He taunted from the other side of the tub.
"Yeah, because you’re definitely only cocky once a year..." you rolled your eyes humorously.
The distance between the two of you seemed too far for Jungkook, so he sculled the rest of his glass and carefully placed the glass on the floor before giving you a mischievous smile.
"Okay, steady on, party boy," You chuckled as he leaned forward and snaked an arm around your waist, pulling you into his warm hold.
"I just want to focus all of my attention on you," He whispered, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear that had fallen out of your clip, his smitten eyes darting over your face until they finally rested on yours.
"I missed you a lot, you know."
You took that as an invitation to straddle his lap and rest your elbows over his broad shoulders, wine glass dangling from your fingers. Jungkook smoothed his warm hands down your back and pressed fiery kisses across your chest, chills in their wake. His lips travelled back up your neck, along your jaw before finding your soft lips in a slow, passionate kiss. You moved in sync with him, bringing one of your hands up to trawl through his wet, tangled locks. He looked beautiful like that, relaxed and grinning; blissfully enamoured.
Jungkook hummed quietly into the kiss before pulling back slightly, "This is the best birthday I've ever had... and I couldn't be more in love with you," He confessed as you took the chance to admire the sweet boy you'd chosen to share your life with.
You cradled his handsome face gently in your palms and pressed another soft kiss to his lips, making sure he knew just how much you loved him, no matter what life threw your way.
"I love you too, darling... Happy birthday."

Sorry for being MIA, but my new job has fried my brain. Easing back into writing with a drabble. Inspired by Hobi's most recent Live, where he mentioned his reaction to Jungkook's dance challenge video. Loved seeing JK post again, but I also love Hobi's dance teacher mode. Best to tag this 80% crack, 20% spooky (yes, spooky).
TikTok notification: Hi Hoseok! Jungkook just posted a new video.
While he would never say it aloud, lately, Hoseok felt a ping of excitement every time he got a notification that one of the members posted. It had been so long since they were together. Making the new album, traveling together, starting rehearsals, it felt like the world had righted itself. Their solo work had all been necessary for them (and would continue playing a pivotal role), but OT7 was forever. The notifications - for an Instagram story, or a WeVerse Live, or now a TikTok video - were just a small reminder.
As his hair stylist worked around him, trimming his hair before a scheduled event, Hoseok found himself clicking on the notification. Immediately, music began blaring through his phone's speaker. With a panicked ‘oh!,’ he hastily paused the video and looked at his stylist. “Sorry,” he spoke before returning to his phone. He muted the volume before sliding the video back to the beginning. He pressed play again.
Hobi watched the 26-second video for the first time.
He let it replay.
He watched it for a third time to triple check.
When the video began for the fourth time, he realized he could not bare to watch it again.
Because in the minute and a half it took Hoseok to watch the video three times, a gnawing, familiar feeling clawed its way back into his body - a feeling that he had not felt in a long time. A feeling that whispered, “Why is he not dancing full out? Did he need to run through it one more time before filming?”
Run through it one more time.
Again.
Again.
“Are you OK, Hobi?” his hair stylist asked, bringing him back from the black hole he was unknowingly being pulled into.
When Hoseok tore his focus from his phone, he caught sight of him in the mirror. Chin down, eyes intensely looking forward (as if he was the star of a Kubrick film). Dance Teacher J-Hope, the Mr. Hyde to Hoseok’s Dr. Jekyll.
Hoseok realized he was no longer alone.
For a moment, he found he could not take his eyes off the mirror, struck by the nostalgia and comfort of seeing an old friend. Someone who carried him through endless rehearsals, someone who provided him the strength to fight through his exhaustion, helped push him and the other members to perform flawlessly. Perfectly.
However, behind his intense stare there was a certain darkness, which nearly knocked the wind out of Hoseok. Hoseok shook his head from side to side, trying to rid himself of the sight and feeling. He looked back at the mirror. He was alone again. The only thing that lingered was the visible tension in his shoulders.
The hair stylist, who stood still next to him, giggled nervously.
The next time he was alone, he dared to watch the video again, prepared to confront his alter ego if the dance teacher decided to make another appearance. However, with the volume turned on, the video was different somehow.
Later, while reflecting on the moment, Hoseok could not say what made him talk about his reaction during his Live that shortly followed. He imagined it had something to do with seeing his youngest member's name. He loved Jungkook like a brother, but the dance teacher was still lurking underneath the surface, having woken up from hibernation, ready to demand nothing but perfection.
When it came down to it, though, Hoseok was not sure who was actually talking - him or the dance teacher - when he began, "Jungkook is usually a very tight dancer."

memos. Welcome to the rewrite of this series! I chose a slightly different approach with this rewrite, and I think I actually like this a lot better than the original. Some things are the same, if not similar to the original version, like the setting of the story. I was actually reluctant to include intimacy from the very beginning. But I think it actually helps explore jk's and oc's dynamic, especially given the title of this chapter. Anyways, hope you enjoy and feel free to share your thoughts! <3

── chapter one. “This is normal”
"Name." The detective's voice is monotonous as his eyes stare at his computer screen. He doesn't even bother looking up at the guy sitting in the plastic folding chair on the other side of the desk because he knows exactly what he'll be met with.
"You know my name." The guy's arrogant attitude pushes another one of the detective's buttons.
"Just tell me your name." He exhales, now glancing up at the guy sitting very relaxed in the chair.
He's practically lying down on the chair, with his body propped up by his legs that are bent and spread out to their sides. His arms are folded across his chest, and he wears a bored look on his face. He sighs, "Jeon Jeongguk."
"Age." The detective continues going through the fields of the report with his eyes now on the arrogant guy in front of him.
"You know that too," Jeongguk smirks and tilts his head back arrogantly, his eyes still boredly staring at the authority figure in front of him.
The detective's patience begins to wear thin at this point as his attention is now back on the screen of the computer monitor between them that's preventing him from giving Jeongguk a piece of his mind from his seat.
"Can we just skip to the part where you grab me by my collar and yell?" Jeongguk now sits up straight with his arms still folded across his chest. He raises a brow and impatiently taps his right index finger against his left upper arm. "I'm getting bored just sitting here and watching you act like you don't want to rip me one right now."
The detective scoffs, "Okay, that's it." He stands up abruptly from his chair, pushing it out behind him. He leans his upper body over the computer monitor and extends out his right arm to grab Jeongguk's t-shirt collar. "You little-," He starts but is cut off by a voice familiar to both of them.
"Mister!" You call for the detective while hopping on your left foot into the police station. Your right foot is raised in the air with your right sneaker taken off of your foot and in your right hand. "Can someone please clean up after the German shepherd outside? I just stepped in his-."
The two men sitting on opposite sides of the desk, diagonal from you, both have their heads turned in your direction. The detective's right hand is still squeezing the center of Jeongguk's t-shirt collar as he acknowledges you, "Hey, don't bring that in here."
"Then what do you want me to do? Burn it?" You balance yourself on your left leg. The heel tab of your right sneaker is pressed between your right index finger and right thumb as you hold it out in front of you at arm's length.
"Get it out of here. It's starting to smell." The detective frowns, now letting go of Jeongguk's collar.
"Mister!" You whine, losing your balance and letting your right foot down onto the floor. Your body is now lopsided due to only wearing a shoe on one foot.
"And take this guy with you. He's an arrogant pain in the ass." The detective sits back down in his chair, and his fingers clack against the keys of the mechanical keyboard.
Jeongguk leans back into the chair and now acknowledges you, "Don't look at me. I'm not taking that from you."
"Nice to see you too." You sarcastically respond to his greeting. Your eyes scan the room for a trash can until you spot one on your right, a few feet away from you. You inch over to the trash can to throw the sneaker out, but the detective stops you.
"Nope, take it outside." He speaks with his eyes glued to the computer screen.
You close your eyes and groan, "You haven't changed a bit, mister." You exhale softly and turn your body around to walk back out to where you came from.
"Nice to have you back home." The detective continues typing, not looking up once as you walk out the door. He notices Jeongguk still sitting in front of him. "What are you still doing here? Go home."
Jeongguk scoffs, "You're letting me go? That's new."
"Or you can spend the night in the holding cell." He offers Jeongguk that option.
"Bye." Jeongguk immediately rejects that option by standing up from the chair and following you outside of the station. The door shuts behind him, and he meets you outside. "You better not bring that on my bike."
You're still holding the sneaker between your fingers. "What makes you think that I'm going on your bike?"
"How else are you going to get home?" Jeongguk stands on the left side of his motorcycle and reaches for his helmet with his eyes on you.
"I'll walk."
"Suit yourself." He swings his right leg over his bike and sits down on the seat. He kicks the kickstand up with his left foot and his hands twist the handlebars to rev the engine. He turns his head to his left to glance at you before lowering the face visor of his helmet and driving forward at lightning speed.
You exhale and finally let your right arm fall back down to its side. Your fingers still haven't let go of the sneaker, and there is still canine waste smudged on the sole of the shoe. With the sneaker hanging from your arm, you begin walking home. Your steps are unsteady as your legs aren't the same distance from the ground. Halfway down the sidewalk that you're walking along, you eye a trash can. Once you get closer to it, you toss the stained sneaker into the can without hesitation. You breathe a sigh of relief and then hear a familiar low rumble coming from your right.
"Put your hair up, would you?" Jeongguk has the face visor raised so you could only see his eyes. He holds out a hair tie that he had just taken out of his leather jacket pocket. "You look like a ghost." He has his left foot on the ground to stabilize him while sitting on his bike.
You gather your hair behind your head and grab the hair tie from his hand with your right while your left holds your hair together. "Why do you still carry around a hair tie in your pocket?"
"It's all because you started losing your hair ties. It's been ten years, and damn- habits are a bitch to break." He squints and looks into the distance.
The thin elastic takes the place of your left hand, and your right fingers wrap it around your hair about three times before the tie holds your hair in place above your neck without any assistance. "I never asked you to carry around hair ties for me."
"No, but you always asked me if I knew where it went. You were clumsy then-" his eyes are on you again, and he exhales, "-and you still are. I mean, you literally stepped in dog crap earlier."
You scoff, "Speak for yourself, troublemaker." You take a step closer to his motorcycle to the left side of the back seat of the bike, and take out the spare helmet from the compartment underneath. You put it over your head and climb onto the back of his bike behind him. "You still get dragged to the station? Isn't it about time you mature a bit?" You speak through the helmet.
Jeongguk sighs and lowers the face visor again. He sits on the bike properly and prepares to take off again. "Hold on tight." He warns you of the speed that he's about to race off at.
You take that warning a little too lightly and get startled at the speed your best friend drives off at. Your upper body is pushed forward, and your arms reflexively wrap tightly around his torso. Your heart rate rises as he drives the bike forward at a nearly illegal speed in between traffic on the main road. You close your eyes, hoping that your heart rate steadies at the lack of sight of your surroundings and your current location on this two-wheeled death machine. Though it actually increases, because now your brain thinks that you're flying.
"Can you slow down a little?!" You holler over the wind and through the helmet.
"What?!" Jeongguk calls back, "I can't hear you!" He actually heard you fine. He's just messing with you.
"I said, can you- Ah!" You cut yourself off with a scream as Jeongguk increases his speed and races forward in between the cars.
"Whoever legally allowed you to drive a motorcycle is crazy." You huff while now standing next to his bike and taking the helmet off of your head. "How can you drive at that speed and not have your license suspended?"
Jeongguk relaxes on his bike that is parked in front of your driveway, with the face visor of his helmet raised. "It's because I have an 'in' with the detective who always drags me to the station."
"And by 'in', you mean that you're his best friend's son." You finish his thought for him.
"Precisely." He raises his eyebrows in acknowledgment. "What are you doing here anyway? Are you back?" He takes off his helmet and ruffles his bangs with his right hand while his eyes remain on you.
You exhale, "I broke up with my boyfriend." This is the first time you're talking about this. "And I got kicked out of my apartment." You add to that, just to show how big of a mess you are right now.
Jeongguk scoffs while setting the helmet down on his lap, "I just don't get it."
"What?"
"I mean, breaking up with your boyfriend, I get. But how do you get kicked out of your apartment?" He tilts his head to the side, wondering what on earth you had to do to get kicked out.
"Well, when your boyfriend cheats on you and lies to his new girlfriend, saying that your shared apartment is his, the new girlfriend is obviously clueless, and she moves in." You take a breath in between sentences. "Then you catch your boyfriend living there with his new girlfriend, and they both throw you out, with your boyfriend telling you that he doesn't love you anymore and that it's over. That's how you get kicked out of your apartment." You fill him in on the details while watching his eyes slightly widen and how he stays silent. "What?"
"No, it's just- You sure know how to pick 'em." His eyes relax as he now laughs, getting back into your usual playful banter.
You lightly slap him on the arm and glare at him. "I didn't know that he'd be an asshole, you know."
"He looks exactly like an asshole, though. How did you not know?" Jeongguk pokes your forehead, slightly sending your head back.
Your head springs back forward and your brows furrow in response to him. "How do you know what he looks like? You never met him."
"He's all over your Facebook, dummy."
"Shit. I forgot to delete our photos on my Facebook." You mumble to yourself.
Jeongguk chuckles, "You better hurry up and delete them, or he's gonna think that you're still hung up on him. That's not attractive." He climbs back on his bike and puts his helmet back on. Before he lowers the face visor, he gives you a wink and the right corner of his lip curls up into a smirk. The engine of the bike revs as Jeongguk's hands turn the handlebars and he takes off in the opposite direction from where you came.
You watch as he speeds off and thin wisps of white smoke come out of the exhaust of his bike. His backside faces you as he gets farther from you. He still rides that same goddamn motorcycle. He still wears that same goddamn leather jacket. And he still smirks in that same goddamn way.
He still is that same goddamn Jeon Jeongguk.

A Few Weeks Later, 6:30 PM
"What do you think of this guy? He's a doctor. He's about 2 years older than you." Your mom practically shoves a photo of a man wearing a while lab coat in your face.
You don't look up from your phone. "He's okay." You aren't lying. He's not bad-looking, just not your type.
"Then-" She takes her phone away for a minute and swipes through the other photos to find a picture of another man. "How about this guy?"
It's another mediocre-looking man. Your mom must've shown you photos of about ten single men in the past two hours. Ever since you told her about breaking up with your ex, she has been trying to set you up with someone.
"He's not my type." You actually look at this guy's face this time and say that.
"Let me see." Jeongguk slightly lifts his body and leans over you to look at the photo on your mom's phone screen. "He's good-looking. What do you mean he's not your type?" His eyes are now on you, staring down at you like you're crazy.
"Come on, not you too." You look up at him. "Don't encourage her!" You whisper, not wanting to be stuck here for the next round of photos of prospects.
"I'm not." He sits back down next to you, with his eyes still peering over the picture on your mom's phone. "I just mean, why isn't he your type? You like good-looking guys."
"Jeongguk, all girls like good-looking guys." You remind him that you aren't the only one who has a preference for a handsome face. "But that definition of good-looking is subjective." You also remind him that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
"So this guy isn't good-looking to you?" Your best friend asks, taking this a bit too seriously.
You don't have to think twice about it, "No."
"So what do you consider good-looking?" Jeongguk is curious if your type has changed at all since you were kids. "That asshole?" He makes a displeased face, afraid that he's right.
You shrug, "I guess, considering I dated him for seven years."
"This guy is better looking than your ex. What are you talking about?!" Jeongguk slightly raises his voice in disbelief.
"Why are you overreacting?" You furrow your brows at him. At this point, your mom's phone screen is out of your face as she had given up for the day.
"Yeah, even Jeongguk is better looking than your ex." Your brother joins the conversation while rushing down the stairs and stands behind the couch where you three are sitting.
"Please not you too, Dylan." You whine and turn your head around to face your older brother, who seems to have zero idea about what he did to make you react like that.
"What? I just stated a fact, that's all." He wears a straight face, wiggling his eyebrows up and down.
"Why does everyone want me to date someone new?" You groan, sending your head back slightly.
"Because you have such crappy taste in guys. At least half of the guys that your mom's shown you just now are better than him." Jeongguk offers his two cents. He practically advocates for your mom's efforts like she's his own mother.
"He's right, you know." Dylan agrees.
"About what? That these guys are better than him?" You roll your eyes, having had enough of this.
"No. That you have crappy taste in guys." Dylan laughs, walking away from you before you could give him a piece of your mind.
You turn your head around in your brother's direction after hearing his comment, meeting the back of his head. "Ugh, he's so-"
"You should listen to Jeongguk." Your mom gets up from the couch, then bends down to plant a kiss on your head. "I'm going to work now. You're going over to Jeongguk's, right?"
"Wow, you're asking as if it's a routine. Almost like I hang out at his house all the time." You chuckle while looking up at your mom, who is peering down at you with a smile.
"I moved to an apartment last year, so I don't live with my dad anymore." Jeongguk fills you and your mom in on his current housing situation.
"Really?" Your head jerks in his direction as this is news to you. You hadn't seen the guy in years, and throughout those years, you never really knew what he was up to.
"Then go over to his apartment," Dylan suggests while walking back into the living room.
You scoff, "Are you both trying to kick me out or something?"
Your mom shakes her head and strokes yours with her right hand before walking out to the garage.
"Yeah. You need to get out more. It's annoying having you around." Dylan munches on potato chips from the bowl he's holding in his hands. He notices how you and Jeongguk are sitting on the couch from behind. Jeongguk is sitting on one end of the couch with his legs spread out, and you sit right next to him, your right leg stretched out with it resting on Jeongguk's left leg. Jeongguk's left hand is relaxed on top of your leg. "Are you two dating?"
You and Jeongguk both turn your heads in Dylan's direction and look up at him. You frown, "Why the hell would you ask that?"
"Because of the way you two are sitting on the couch." He looks down at the position that the two of you are sitting in.
"We sit like this all the time." You catch your brother up to the fact that this is normal for you and Jeongguk.
"So, are you going over there or not?" Dylan practically forces you to go over to Jeongguk's place.
"He's a grown man who lives alone. How can I go over there?" You look at Jeongguk while talking to your older brother.
"You said it yourself, that it's normal for you and Jeongguk to act like this. So what's so weird about going over to his place?" Dylan shrugs, munching on another potato chip.
Jeongguk reaches up and grabs a chip from the bowl in Dylan's hands. "Yeah, let's go. You can sleep over if you want."
"Fine." You groan while taking your right leg off of Jeongguk's and pushing yourself off the couch. "But you better drive slow."
"No promises," Jeongguk smirks and follows you off the couch.
7:00 PM
"Does your mom still work the night shift at the hospital?" Jeongguk sits across from you at the dining table and picks up a few ramen noodles with the chopsticks in his right hand.
You chew the food in your mouth before answering his question. You shake your head and look up at your best friend. "No, she became Head Nurse a few years ago, so she doesn't work nights anymore. She's just covering for someone tonight." You pause. "So what have you been up to?"
Jeongguk shrugs, "Not much. I almost got married."
You choke after hearing that. "You what?" Your eyes widen, and you stare at him.
"I almost got married," Jeongguk repeats himself with the same nonchalant tone and maintains eye contact with you.
You nod your head slowly. "So what happened?"
"About what?" Jeongguk holds the chopsticks with noodles hanging from them in his hand.
"You said you almost got married. That means you didn't. Why didn't you?"
Jeongguk inhales deeply and lets go of the utensils in his hand before leaning back in the chair. "I just didn't." He didn't have any other excuse.
"Huh." You go back to eating the rest of the ramen noodles in the bowl in front of you.
"What?" Jeongguk slightly furrows his eyebrows. He figures you meant something by that.
"Nothing. I just said 'huh'."
10:00 PM
"What are you doing?" Your voice is wary as you sit up on the right side of his bed. You watch as Jeongguk folds over the other side of the comforter and climbs into the bed to sit on the left side of the mattress.
"What?" He purses his lips and raises his brows. "This is normal for us, remember?"
"We're adults now." You remind him that you can't do the things you did when you were five years old anymore.
Jeongguk doesn't say anything and sits up next to you on his side of the bed with his legs straight underneath the covers like you. You two sit in silence for ten minutes before Jeongguk breaks it, "So, are you going to go on that blind date that your mom is setting up for you?"
You turn your head to face him. "Why? Do you want me to go on a blind date?"
"I just think that you deserve someone who will actually care about you." His voice softens as his eyes do the same.
"How do you know any of those guys will care about me?" You are reluctant about meeting someone else after being treated like that by your ex-boyfriend.
"I don't-," Jeongguk starts but is cut off when your phone goes off, and your screen lights up to show a text message.
You turn your head to look down at your lap where your phone is resting and pick it up to read the text. It's a text from Mason, a mutual friend of yours and Jeongguk's. It reads, "Did you see this? I think your ex-boyfriend posted this." Below that message, there's another with a group of screenshots of a tweetstorm posted by your ex, basically talking shit about you. You read through the screenshots and scoff, "What the fuck?"
"What? What's wrong?" Jeongguk hears the profanity come out of your mouth and leans to his right to sneak a look at your phone screen. He reads the same thing you're reading, "This motherfucker." He whispers, verbalizing exactly what you both are thinking in this moment.
"This crazy-." You cut yourself off before more profanity slips out of your mouth. Your ex isn't worth all the foul insults that are currently sitting on the tip of your tongue.
"Why would he do something like this?" Jeongguk exhales deeply and rolls his tongue along the top row of his teeth inside his mouth.
"I guess he's pissed about getting caught cheating." Your right thumb presses the 'home' button of your iPhone to close the messages app. You press the 'lock' button on the top right of the phone and lightly toss it back onto your lap.
"Then he shouldn't have cheated to begin with." Jeongguk leans his back straight against the headboard again. He slightly grits his teeth inside his mouth.
"Why are you taking my side all of a sudden?"
Jeongguk laughs, "You're acting like this is the first time I've ever taken your side on something."
"Sorry, I'm just trying to get used to it again." You move your phone off your lap and onto the night table, and fold the comforter so that your legs are uncovered. You slide off the edge of the mattress and disappear out into the hallway leading to the living room of Jeongguk's apartment. Five seconds later, you walk back into the bedroom, hugging a long cushion against your chest.
"What are you doing?" He frowns, watching you walk back over to the side of the bed that you were sitting on. He keeps his eyes on you as you climb back into the bed, now having a general idea of what you were going to do with the cushion in your arms. "You're not going to-?" His words get cut off as he gets slapped in the face with air from the hard thud of your slamming the cushion in the center of the mattress.
"Do not cross this barrier." You emphasize, as if the physical object distinctly dividing the mattress into two halves isn't enough already.
"What are you, seven?" Jeongguk squints and shakes his head. "Is this really necessary?"
"Yes." You answer without thinking about it, knowing his sleeping habits. "You never stay on your side of the bed."
Jeongguk scoffs, "What about you?" He adjusts the position of his body to now be sitting facing you. "You always hug me in your sleep."
"That was when we were in high school." You remember the last time you and he slept in the same bed. That time, it wasn't by choice. Not that you asked him to sleep next to you this time either. "I don't do that anymore."
"We'll see about that." Jeongguk shakes his head and fixes the position of his body again so that he's now lying down underneath the comforter on the other side of the cushion with his back to you. "If you hug me in your sleep, I'm going to push you off the bed."
You are now also lying down with your back to him on your side of the bed. "You're going to push a girl off the bed?"
"You're not a girl." He pauses before continuing his thought, "You're like a guy with long hair." Jeongguk then feels your foot kick his calf. "My point exactly. What kind of girl is this violent?"
You grit your teeth and speak through them, "You're asking for it, huh?" You then turn over onto your left side and stare at his back. "And I just nudged you. What do you mean I'm violent?"
"Tell that to the bruise on my leg tomorrow morning." He rolls over onto his right side while speaking and is now facing you. Jeongguk exhales softly as you two stare at each other without saying a word.
"I'm not going on a blind date." Your voice is soft as you blink softly while maintaining eye contact with your best friend.
For some reason, that is a form of reassurance for Jeongguk. "Okay." That's all he says before closing his eyes to fall asleep.
8:00 AM
The cushion you put in the middle of the mattress to create a barrier between you and Jeongguk last night served absolutely no purpose. Because it's now dangling on the edge of your side of the mattress.
And you and Jeongguk did not remain on opposite sides of the bed.
You two are lying on your sides in the middle of the bed, where the cushion was, facing each other. Your faces are close together, yours and his noses practically touching. His right arm is extended out and supporting the left side of your head, while his left arm is relaxed over your waist. Your left leg is obviously swung over his legs, and your arms are hugging his torso. You two could easily be mistaken for a couple if someone saw the position you're sleeping in right now.
But, of course, this is normal for you two.
Jeongguk opens his eyes with a groan. He feels his arm cramping underneath your head, having absolutely no idea how long it's been resting there. He notices how close your face is to his and then feels the weight of your leg on top of his. Jeongguk exhales through his nose softly and looks down at you, who's sleeping soundly. "This is why I said that the cushion would be pointless." He now moves his left arm that had been resting on your waist and pokes your forehead with his left index finger. "Wake up."
Your eyebrows flinch before your eyes open at the sound of his voice. "What?" You whine, cranky that you were woken up.
"Can you get off of me?" He raises his eyebrows at you.
As you lift your head slightly to look at him, the tip of your nose brushes against his. "What the? What happened to the barrier?" You don't listen to him and just lay there still.
"My arm's cramping, get off of me." Jeongguk uses his left arm to remove your leg from on top of him and slightly pushes you away from him over to your side of the bed. Your arms unwrap from around his torso, which now lets him slip his arm out from under your head. Pulling himself up, he now sits up on the bed, and his eyes blink while they're focused on you. Somehow within those few minutes, you've fallen back asleep. Jeongguk sighs deeply while shaking his head and gets out of bed to take a shower.
You stir awake at the creaking of the faucet in the bathroom as the water shuts off in the shower. You hear the shower door slide back and forth as you open your eyes to meet the closed door of the bathroom. After staring at the door for about five minutes, it opens and out comes Jeongguk, who is wearing only shorts and busy drying off his hair with a hand towel. You blink at the sudden sight of your shirtless best friend.
"What?" He tosses the towel in his hand over the edge of the hamper while seeing that you're lying there completely still, almost like you're stunned. "You look like this is your first time seeing a guy shirtless."
You pull yourself up and shrug while sitting up on the mattress with your legs crossed in front of you.
"You mean, you've never even seen your ex shirtless?" Now, that's shocking. "I'm sure you have. I mean, you have slept with him, haven't you?" Jeongguk laughs, thinking that there is no way that you couldn't have over the seven years you were with your ex.
"Why do I have to talk about my sexual activity with you?" You frown, not realizing that this friendship required disclosure about such personal matters. You watch as he raises a brow, waiting for confirmation. You exhale, "But if you must know, yes. I have slept with him. I'm not a prude, you know." Your pupils now roll up slightly to look at Jeongguk's face.
"I never said you are." Jeongguk slowly walks toward you with a smirk on his face. "If this isn't your first time seeing a guy shirtless, then why are you staring at my chest?" He teases you.
You tilt your head and smile, "It's because I'm not impressed by your abs. I figured you'd be more-" You pause, debating whether or not you should continue your thought. But you do anyway, just to push his buttons, "-ripped."
Jeongguk scoffs while opening his mouth and poking the inner gums below his bottom teeth with his tongue.
"Did I hurt your ego?" You pout at him, your voice mimicking one that holds sympathy.
"That's cute." Jeongguk now towers over you and leans down with his hands pressed on the mattress on both sides of you. "You really thought that I'd be hurt by that? Sweetheart, you'd have to say a lot more for you to hurt my ego." His voice purrs, and his gaze is intense.
He's even still the same goddamn flirt that you remember him to be.
Your eyebrows move up and down as you maintain eye contact with your best friend, "What would I have to say then?" Your voice mimics his seductive tone.
At this point, there is an extremely fine line between friends and lovers. And the only way to justify this is to say that this is normal between you and him. Because this is also normal. Both of you know that you're just playfully flirting with each other, and one minute later, you'd act as if nothing happened.
Jeongguk blinks before taking his hands off of the bed and standing up straight in front of you again. "Go wash your face. You have eye boogers."
"I was about to, you know." You straighten out your legs and inch toward the edge of the bed before standing up in front of him. "You should put a shirt on." You nag back at him.
"I was about to." He bickers with you as you disappear behind the bathroom door.
9:00 AM
"Don't you want to get revenge on your ex?" Jeongguk slides a mug full of hot black coffee towards you before turning his back to you again.
"Why would I want to? He doesn't deserve that attention." You lift the cup to your lips by the handle to take a sip of the coffee. You had momentarily forgotten about the temperature of the beverage despite eyeing the steam rising from the top seconds ago. You flinch as the hot beverage touches the inside of your oral cavity.
"You also need an excuse not to go on blind dates with any of the guys that your mom has in mind." He speaks over the coffee that is pouring into the mug on the drip tray of the machine.
"Yeah, so what's your point?" You're now aware of how hot the coffee is and carefully take another sip from the mug before setting it down softly on the granite surface.
"How about I help you with both of those things?" The bottom of the mug scrapes against the drip tray as Jeongguk takes the mug off the machine. He turns around to face you.
"How?"
"Simple." Jeongguk sips the coffee before continuing his sentence, "I'll be your new boyfriend."
There are three people in your relationship: you, Jungkook, and his damn monitor.
ˢʸⁿᵒᵖˢⁱˢ: Two nights in a row of your boyfriend gaming was fine, but the third night of him still glued to his monitor? Absolutelynot. So when he tries to hit you with some bullshit about an "important match" again, you decide you've had enough. If he really likes games so much, you're about to show him who the better gamer is... by playing him instead.

. . .
There was a time when you used to pity girls whose boyfriends didn’t have any hobbies. You couldn’t imagine being in a relationship where the guy had nothing better to do than follow you around the house, bothering your ass just because he didn’t know where else to be.
Now? You envy those girls with every particle of your being.
Because what nobody tells you about having a boyfriend with a hobby, is that it practically means having no boyfriend at all.
You have cleaned the entire house. Literally every single corner. The floors are shining, the rug in the living room has been vacuumed of every tiny crumb, and there isn’t a single speck of dust left anywhere (or at least you hope so).
And just now, you've finished the dishes too.
You set the pink mug onto the dish dryer, and with a heavy sigh you rest your yellow-gloved hands against the damp edge of the counter, completely at a loss for what to do next.
Your head tilts to the side as you stare blankly with a grim face at the Hello Kitty mug slowly dripping dry on the rack, as if it’s somehow responsible for your overwhelming boredom.
Well... clearly nobody is saying “hello” to your kitty tonight, because your boyfriend is far too occupied with whatever the hell is happening on his monitor, leaving you to slowly die of having absolutely nothing to do.
So yes, you take back every single thought you’ve ever had about boring men, because at least a boring man would be here next to you.
You had sworn to yourself earlier that you'd leave him alone and let him have his little game night (again) But come on... He's been playing for five hours already, and at this point, he genuinely can't blame you for missing your man.
After few thoughts, you finally peel the rubber gloves off your hands, toss them onto the counter, and head toward your shared bedroom. You push the door open just enough to peek inside, leaning half your body through the doorway to get a view of the room.
Jungkook's gaming setup is tucked beneath the glass wall overlooking the city from high up in the skyscraper. It's a view most people would kill for. But the boy couldn't give less of a fuck bout the view.
He has his back completely turned to you. From behind his gaming chair, all you can see is the back of his head, bobbing slightly while his hands fly frantically across the backlit keyboard and mouse.
"Fuck, he shot me!" Jungkook suddenly barks into his headset. "Tae, you're blocking the door! Move, bitch! Turn left, turn left...Shit, no, the other left!"
You lean your shoulder against the doorframe, crossing your arms on your chest as you keep observing him.
"Kook?"
No response.
"Jungkook," you try again, a little louder this time.
But there is still no answer. He just slams the mouse button, letting out a frustrated growl as his character takes another hit.
You pout to yourself as a petty spark of irritation arises in your chest.
Pushing yourself off the doorframe with your shoulder, you cross the room until you're standing right behind his chair. You scan his setup; Sitting beside his keyboard are two empty energy drink cans (which he knows you deeply disapprove of). The glass of lemon water you brought him earlier as a sweet gesture to keep him hydrated remains abandoned, and still completely full.
You let out a scoff, resting both hands on the high back of his gaming chair. Jungkook stiffens slightly, sensing your sudden presence. He uses one hand to casually push the headset cup off one ear, while his right hand remains glued to his mouse, fingers twitching over the buttons.
"What's up?"
"When are you finishing?"
Jungkook flicks his eyes to the bottom right corner of his monitor, checking the time. "In three hours, maybe."
"Three hours?" you whine, unable to hide your disbelief. "Come on, Kook, you’ve been sitting here for so long already..."
"I know, but—shit!" He cuts himself off, his eyes widening as an enemy squad jumps his team. His fingers go into overdrive, trying to make his character slide behind a concrete wall in the game. "Wait, hold on babe, give me a second."
You stand there, leaning against his chair with a thoroughly unhappy expression, watching him work.
Once his character is safely tucked into a corner, he leans into his mic. "Toilet pause. Give me three minutes," he mutters, hitting the key to mute himself.
He spins his chair slightly to the side, opening up just enough space for you to slip in. "Sit down." He pats his thigh, looking up at you.
You stay on your feet, the stubbornness taking over. "Can't you just end this already? I'm pretty sure the world won't end if they're down one person on the team."
"It'a an important match."
" Is it?"
Jungkook lets out a tiny, irritated sigh. You had promised earlier that you wouldn't whine about his game night, and he clearly remembers it. Without waiting for you to comply, he reaches out, catching the hem of your shirt and pulls you directly onto his lap.
" You're complaining again."
You instinctively wrap one arm around his neck to balance yourself, and tuck your body comfortably against his side.
"I knoooow," you drag out, resting your chin against the side of his head, "but you didn't say it would take this long. You haven't spent any time with me tonight."
"I am now. We're talking, aren't we?," he answers smoothly, though your annoyance only spikes when his eyes immediately wander back to the screen to check his health bar.
"That's not the same!" you protest, nudging his jaw with your fingers to make him look at you. "You're still half in the game."
He lets out a dramatic huff, but lastly a defeated smile tugs at the corner of his lips. "Fine. I'll just finish this match and then I'm all yours, deal?" He leans in, pressing a quick kiss against your cheek.
You roll your eyes at the bare-minimum effort, but your hands move on instinct to fix the collar of his black Supreme hoodie. Determined to break his focus completely, you tug at the material of his hoodie and pull him in for a real kiss.
It works instantly. For a delicious second, Jungkook ditches the game. His hand finally leaves the mouse, slipping up your leg to trace slow strokes up and down your thigh. You lean into him even more to deepen the kiss, eating up as much of his attention as he's willing to give.
You part your lips, inviting him to slip his tongue inside, and he obliges instantly. You catch the faint, chemical taste of the energy drink he’d chugged earlier spreading on his tongue. You attempt to take the lead and assert at least a bit of dominance, but Jungkook shuts that down in an instant. He tilts his head just right, deepening the angle, and completely steals the breath right out of your lungs. God, he is so unfairly good at this. You never want it to stop.
...But as if on cue, someone decides to ruin the moment;
"Did JK get diarrhea or what? Bro, they're destroying us!" A muffled voice erupts from his headset.
You let out a frustrated whine as Jungkook tears his lips away from yours. His eyes blown out, as he blinks up at you, completely dazed for a fraction of a second. But the moment his brain registers what is going on, his eyes instantly dart back toward the screen.
"Kook..." you plead, trailing your lips down to his jawline, attempting to draw his attention back.
"Babe, I need to log back in," he rasps.
His hand slips off your thigh, reaching back for the mouse as he clicks his mic back on. "I'm here, I'm here. Heading to base, cover me"
He shifts you slightly on his lap, adjusting your weight so he can reach the keyboard properly. His arms frame you on both sides, his chest pressed firmly against your back, and he rests his chin right over your shoulder, his breath fanning the side of your neck, but his gaze is completely locked onto the chaotic battlefield.
"Seriously?" You lean back against him.
Since he still has his headset pushed off one ear, he catches your murmur over the game noises. "You can talk," he mutters absently, but you know damn well he's only saying it so you won't throw a fit right here on his lap.
Suddenly, a loud explosion rattles out from the ear cup, and the screen flashes red.
"Oh, for fuck's sake!"Jungkook snaps, his entire body tensing beneath you as he slams his hand against the desk. "Unbelievable. What are these fuckers even doing?!"
"Jungkook..." you say warningly, raising an eyebrow at his sudden outburst.
"These idiots literally don't know how to play," he mumbles, his jaw clenched as he waits to respawn.
You sigh heavily, reaching out to pick up one of the empty cans sitting on his desk. You turn it around in your fingers, absentmindedly reading the label until your eyes land on the bold text: EXTRA PORTION CAFFEINE
"I told you to stop drinking this garbage," you scold him, tapping the can against his forehead.
"You did," he agrees instantly, but his tone is now completely hollowed out by his pure gamer mode.
He's not even listening properly to you.
Setting the can back down, you reach up and tangle your fingers into bis soft hair. "Jungkook..."
He gives a tiny, impatient nod against your shoulder, silently telling you to go ahead and speak while he chooses his ammunition.
"Promise that tomorrow is for us," you demand, tugging lightly at his dark locks.
"Promise,"
"Promise that you promise?"
"I promise, Y/N," he repeats, using your name as if that proves he’s paying total attention.
You narrow your eyes, but a mischievous idea forms in your mind; You’re going to test whether he’s really listening or if he’s simply running on autopilot.
"So...you'll do everything I want tomorrow?" you ask, leaning back just enough to catch a glimpse of his side profile.
He nods. "Yeah."
"Really? Will you take me shopping?"
"Yeah..."
"Buy me a bag?"
"Mhm."
"A Birkin?"
"Yeah, yeah..."
"Oh, you're so talking trash right now," you mutter.
You aggressively wriggle your shoulder in irritation, shoving his chin off you as you scramble off his lap.
Jungkook looks at you confused. His hands instinctively shoot out to stabilize you. "Woah–the fuck? What’s your problem now?"
"You,"
"Y/N, come on..." he groans, making a face that practically screams 'Bro, don't make a scene again.' when you try to wriggle from his grasp.
His fingers hook into the elastic waistband of your pants to keep you in place. You try to yank yourself free, but he doesn't let go.
"Kook, it’s so fucking annoying!" You bite out, glaring down at him.
"What is?!"
"You and your shit-ass computer!"
Jungkook lets out a dramatic sigh, rolling his eyes as he reaches for the power button on his PC tower. "God, fine! I'll turn it off, okay? Will that make you happy?"
"No," Play. Go ahead! you snap,"I don't care anymore. You can literally mold here on your chair for all I care."
Driven by pure annoyance, you raise your elbow and shove his arm away, breaking his grip on your waistband.
"JK? Bro, where the fuck are you?" his squadmates' irritating voices crackle through again.
Jungkook ignores them for a second, his brow furrowing at you when you start grabbing the trash scattered around his desk, crushing the empty cans in your fist and collecting the granola bar wrappers from behind the speaker.
"Not even a girlfriend anymore," you mutter bitterly under your breath. "Just a fucking maid. A live-in housekeeper for a gamer."
Jungkook lets out an unamused huff, clearly fed up with your constant nagging. The moment his friends call for him over the headset again, he mutters a dismissive, "Whatever," and goes right back to playing.
Just like that.
You freeze, holding a handful of crumpled trash, staring at the side of his head in absolute disbelief. He didn't even fight for you. Didn't offer a real apology. He just gave up and went right back to his stupid match.
No way. There is no fucking way you are leaving it like this. You are about to make him regret neglecting you so damn much.
Turning on your heel, you march out of the bedroom. Then, just when Jungkook probably thinks he finally got you out of his his business, you're right back. And you aren't alone. You're back with a damp kitchen towel and you are fully prepared to use it for your evil plans.
Stopping just outside the doorway, you unbutton the top few buttons of your shirt, making your chest more exposed. You take a slow breath and lean confidently over the edge of his desk, propping yourself up on one arm so that your décolletage is on full display. You begin wiping the wooden surface in slow circles.
At first, he doesn't notice. His eyes stay locked on the screen, following his character's every move. Unhappy with his lack of attention, you purposely reach out, sliding the towel beside his mousepad, making sure to touch his fingers with the damp towel.
The sudden movement finally catches his attention. His eyes wander over to see what you're doing, and the moment he looks, he does a complete double take. His fingers freeze over the keys, while his eyes drop straight to your chest, instantly taking in the deep curve of your cleavage practically spilling into his view.
He quickly darts his eyes up to look at your face, trying to catch your expression, but you turn your head away just in time, hiding your evil little smile.
Jungkook shifts uncomfortably in his chair, biting down hard on the inside of his cheek as his jaw visibly tightens. You know him all too well. You know how easily distracted he gets by you, and above all, you know he absolutely loves your tits. And right now, he can't touch a single thing.
"Yo, u guys saw that?!" His teammate practically scream over the in-game chatter.
"Yeah... saw that." Jungkook lets out a low murmur, his eyes entirely glued to the volume of your chest.
A snort almost escapes your nose. You know he isn't talking about the match.
When you're finally done wiping down his right side, you don't just walk around to the left like a normal person. Instead, you slide directly in front of him, leaning into his even more into his space until your chest is practically hovering inches from his face.
The low cut of your shirt leaves nothing to the imagination, your breasts framed perfectly right in his line of sight. You lazily drag the damp cloth across the surface.
"Can you... like... scoot over?" you ask, keeping your act innocent, forcing him to move a little bit to the side. "Yeah, thank you."
Jungkook tilts his head back against his headrest, his pupils blown out as his breathing starts to grow heavier. He looks like a man being pushed to his absolute limit.
"Y/N..." he gives you a warning look .
"What?" you ask, stopping your scrubbing motions to look at him with harmless eyes.
"Stop it."
"Stop what?"
"This," he mutters, his eyes darting frantically between your exposed cleavage and the glowing monitor. "I'm going to fucking lose."
You offer him a sweet, utterly ruthless smile, patting the edge of his desk. "Then you better lock in, Kook."
Jungkook lets out a tortured groan, giving your breasts one last hungry look. Before you can even react, his fingers reach up and tangle into your hair, pulling your head back just enough to force you out of his face and up off his desk.
You let out a soft yelp, more out of surprise than actual pain, caught off guard by the sharp movement.
Jungkook raises an eyebrow, a teasing, challenging glint in his dark eyes despite the tension radiating off him. "Since you're suddenly in such a cleaning mood... why don't you go clean the window?"
"Fuck you," you mutter dryly. You both know you aren't actually interested in house chores right now.
Jungkook lets out a quiet laugh, his eyes flashing with amusement as he snaps his head back to his monitor just in time to react to an enemy sliding around the corner on screen.
You sure as hell aren't about to make his battle any easier.
As you give one last swipe of the towel across his desk, you deeply make sure to very, very "accidentally" catch the edge of the tall glass sitting in the area of his mousepad. Unfortunately (for him) the entire glass of lemon water tips sideways, dumping a wave of liquid directly into his lap.
"Ah–shit, babe!" Jungkook whines, as he shoves his chair back, staring down at his soaked sweatpants.
"Oh my god! Oh no, I'm so, so sorry!" you gasp, clapping a hand over your mouth and playing the part of the panicked, clumsy girlfriend to absolute perfection
You quickly pull a handful of tissues from the box sitting on the cupboard nearby and strut over to him, and stride over to him, immediately starting to wipe down his lap.
"Wait—Y/n, stop—" Jungkook takes a sharp breath, his hands flying to the armrests of his gaming chair.
You completely ignore him and begin methodically dabbing the paper towels over his lap. You take your sweet time, applying pressure, dragging the paper slowly over his clothed dick. damp fabric. Every single time your palm presses down, you feel his lower abdomen lock up, his thighs tensing beneath your touch.
"Oh, look, some of it ran down the side,"
To make it a little bit harder for him, you slide underneath the wooden lip of the desk, dropping onto your knees in the narrow space right between his thighs to wipe the droplets off the floor.
"I really didn't mean to, it just slipped," you purr, tilting your head up to look at him through your lashes.
Jungkook narrows his eyes down at you with, completely tuning out his friends screaming gibberish through his headset. The prominent bulge beneath the damp material of his sweatpants is impossible to miss. You raise a brow at him, when he bites down on his lower lip so hard it loses all color.
Resting your chin casually on his knee, you look up at him and smile sweetly. "What's wrong, Kookie?"
"You are evil," he rasps bitterly.
You giggle softly, reaching up with one palm to massage the firm muscle of his inner thigh. "You are so tense, baby... you really need to relax."
Keeping unbroken eye contact with him, you push off his legs with both hands, slowly rising up in the narrow space between his thighs. Your palms slide smoothly up over his knees and across his broad thighs, pulling you closer until you're hovering right over his lap. When you are finally face-to-face with him, you lean in and plant a juicy peck right on his parted lips.
"I don't want to interrupt," you mumble right against his mouth, "but I think you're losing..."
"And whose fucking fault is that?"
You laugh, tilting your head to the side with a playful smirk, as he stares at you, completely undone and entirely at your mercy.
.."Well, my job here is done," you hum cheerfully.
You take the damp kitchen towel from his desk and prepare to make your grand exit, stepping over his widely leg to leave him to his fate.
"Wait—where the fuck do you think you're going?!" Jungkook gives you a confused look, his hand shooting out to slam his palm against the desk frame, trapping you between his frame and the computer setup.
You stop in your tracks, and tilt your head at the rustrated glint flashing in his pupils.
"You did that on purpose," he accuses. "All of it. Don't even try to deny it."
"Me?" You blink, placing a hand over your heart with the most hurt expression you can muster. "I was just helping you clean up, Kook."
Jungkook groans, his gaze dropping down to his wet lap before snapping back to your face. "Yeah, right. Now help me take care of this," he gestures pointedly toward the undeniable bulge.
"I can't. You need to log back in, remember?"
You raise your hand (the one still clutching the damp kitchen towel) and press it firmly against his chest, pushing him back until his spine hits the backrest of his gaming chair.
Jungkook lets out a scoff. "You are so fucking dead..."
Before he can even finish his threat, you bring the damp towel up and gently smack him right across the face with it. The light blow catches him off guard, making him instinctively pull his arm back from the desk to block his face. Taking full advantage of the split second, you slip right past him, striding toward the bedroom door with an unbothered sway in your hips.
You glance back over your shoulder, flashing him a smile. "Sorry... must have been the wind."

“I need you.”
“What?”
“I miss you so bad.”
“Are you drunk?”
“I love you. So much. It kinda hurts.”
“Jungkook.”
Silence. Except for the faint noises of cars passing by.
You hear a little sigh. “Missed hearing you say my name.”
Your fingers clasp tighter around your phone. “Why’d you call?” It’s 2 a. m., and the only reason you answered is because you were worried. This is the first time he’s called since the breakup.
“Just ‘cause,” he mumbles. You can hear the pout he’s speaking with. “We have a one week break from tour and I came back to Korea. Missed home and Mum, and you.”
“You’re in Busan, then?”
“Seoul.”
He’s here. So close.
You shake your head. Take a steady breath to calm your giddy heart. You shouldn’t care.
“Was at my parents’ for two...three days.” After a short pause, he continues, “Been wanting to talk to you all day long, but I didn’t have enough courage.”
“I mean...” You slump back against the couch, your head falling back. “There isn’t anything for us to talk about.”
“No?” he asks, confused. “I’ve got so much to say, though.”
“I meant, like, we shouldn’t be talking. At all. ‘Cause we’re – we’re done.” You thought you were. You thought you made it clear when you broke up with him.
“Haven’t you missed me at all?” He sounds both accusing and sad, and you think your heart breaks a little. “I think about you constantly,” Jungkook whispers, his confession carrying a soft hopelessness through the phone.
You sit up straight. “How much did you drink?”
“Hmm, not much,” he answers. “I’m not drunk!” he quickly adds. “Just needed some alcohol to have enough courage to call you.”
“You drank because of me?”
“You’ve never done this?”
“I’d like to say it wasn’t because of you.”
“So... you’ve been thinking about me too?” he asks tentatively.
You close your eyes. “Is this a conversation we should be having?”
Jungkook heaves a defeated sigh. With your eyes closed, you can almost picture him standing outside, the chill of the night air mixing with his feelings of loneliness. Maybe he’s pacing, or just staring into the distance, eyes weary with a faint trace of frustration mixed with vulnerability etched on his face.
“You can hang up if you want. I just hoped we could talk a bit. I’ve been – I’ve been feeling lonely and a little sad, and I couldn’t get you out of my head,” he babbles. “I’m sorry if you don’t wanna talk.”
You wish you could be cruel – could be a cynic and just hang up. But you can’t. He is tipsy and emotional, and you still love him too much.
“No, it’s fine.” If only he knew how much you’ve been wanting to hear his voice again. “I didn’t expect a call like this tonight, that’s all,” you add, pulling your legs up to your chest. “Are you on your way home?”
“Yeah. I’ll be there soon.”
“You have the dorm all to yourself?”
“The dorm? Ah, yes, I was the only one to fly back to Korea. The others stayed in the US.”
You hug your knees with one arm.
“Why are you still up so late?” Jungkook asks, as if he isn’t the one roaming around, tipsy and a bit of a heartbroken mess, in the city in the middle of the night. He does all that and yet worries about you.
“I was just eating.” Your eyes drift to the remnants of food in front of you. “And watching a drama.” The big screen is on mute. You hurriedly searched for the remote to turn off the sound once you saw the caller’s name.
“With your mum?”
“No, she’s at the studio. I think she’s finishing up some songs,” you say. Your mum left sometime in the evening, saying she’d had a sudden spark of inspiration and needed to go to the company. You bet she won’t come home until 4 a.m. “I couldn’t sleep and was craving some tteokbokki, so...”
“From the restaurant at Gangnam?”
A soft, hesitant smile blossoms on your face. “They make it the most delicious.”
He mutters a wistful sound. “I haven’t had it in so long.”
Your fingertips gently tap against your knees in a slow rhythm. “You should definitely have it before you leave again.”
“With you?” Just two words and yet they’re filled with so much innocent hope.
Your fingers halt.
“Oh?”
“Would you not want to see me?”
“I’m not sure if we should.”
“But do you want to?” He’s met with silence from your side. “You were one of the reasons I really wanted to come back to Korea.”
“But what if I don’t want to meet up?”
“Then don’t open the door.”
“I don’t...What door?”
“Your door,” he answers conversationally.
You hurriedly scramble to your feet and walk to the door. “You’re here?” The screen on the intercom shows Jungkook, holding up his phone against his ear and patiently waiting.
“You watching me?” Jungkook teases, playfully cocking his head to the side as he stares directly into the camera.
“Oh.” You take shy step back. Blood rushes to your cheeks.
“Open the door for me? Please?”
You don’t think it’s a good idea to let Jungkook in. But his doe eyes. His pleading doe eyes. They do it for you.
You buzz him in and, while you wait for him, you try to calm your racing heart.
When the elevator doors open and Jungkook steps out, you’re struck by the sight of him after months apart. You take in every detail: his tousled hair, his tired but still striking eyes, the way the light catches the contours of his face. He looks so handsome, so achingly familiar. You’re drinking him in with your eyes, unable to believe he’s actually here.
“I thought you were heading to the dorm,” you say as Jungkook steps out of the elevator.
“I didn’t say that.” A pout graces his face.
He said he was heading home.
“I missed you,” Jungkook says, and suddenly you become awfully aware of the situation unfolding before you. You have to blink twice to make sure you’re not just picturing a hologram of Jungkook in your apartment. This time, he is real. Not a figment of your imagination.
“Me too,” you admit with a heavy heart.
A lopsided, sorrowful grin appears on his mouth. “Can’t bring yourself to say it back?”
“Jungkook, you-” You shake your head, sighing as your scramble for words. “You shouldn’t even be here.”
It’s the middle of the night, and upon answering a call from Jungkook, he stands right in front of you – just like in the dreams you secretly have at night when you’re feeling lonely again. It shouldn’t be this easy. It really shouldn’t be this easy for him to say these things and fall back into a natural pattern with you when you’ve been crying yourself to sleep at night, wishing your love for him would die.
And yet, here you are, with dangerous words at the tip of your tongue, barely resisting the intense urge of your heart to scream how much it has been wanting him back.
“But let’s not – let's not just stand here.” You point to the slippers next to him. “Take off your shoes and I’ll...I dunno, put on a movie?” You go back into the living room as Jungkook hangs up his coat and follows you.
“Oh, that looks delicious,” Jungkook exclaims when he spots the leftover tteokbokki on the coffee table.
“I can heat it up for you, if you want,” you offer. Judging by the way his tongue wets his bottom lip, it’s clear he’d appreciate that.
Jungkook trails behind you into the kitchen.
“So, watchu been up to?” He leans his forearms on the counter, watching you from across the island as you put the tteokbokki into the microwave.
He’s been in this kitchen countless times before. He’s made you tea when you were sick, prepared hot chocolate when you needed comfort, and knew exactly where to find the snack stash for movie nights. He’s even prepared breakfast for you and your mum on some mornings. But tonight, he can’t shake the feeling of being a stranger here. The memories of those moments feel distant, like a blurry movie he watched when he was too young to fully remember, leaving him with only a vague sense of familiarity.
“Just, you know, studying, working. The usual.” You turn to him, mimicking his position on the other side of the counter.
“So much on your plate that you couldn’t reply to my messages?”
His gaze is intense and shameless, and you look away.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to reply to messages sent by your ex.” You turn around, leaning your back against the counter. “What am I supposed to text back when you tell me that you miss me?”
“Hey, just last week I asked how you were doing. You could’ve replied to that one.” You can sense the sulkiness in his voice, mingled with a touch of light-heartedness, but you don’t turn to face him.
Jungkook closes the distance between you.
“You don’t want me in your life anymore? Like, at all?”
Your engulfed by his scent as he stands next to you, struggling to form a proper answer as you hesitantly peer into his face.
The microwave dings, and you breathe again.
“When was the last time you had this?” You place the plate in front of him and hand him the chopsticks.
“It’s been a few months. Before the tour started, I was dieting, so, maybe 5 months?” Jungkook doesn’t notice the roll of your eyes when he mentions dieting, his attention focused on the hot tteokbokki between his chopsticks. “Mhmmm.” He closes his eyes tightly, tipping his head back as he tastes the food on his tongue. “So good.”
“Feels good to have a bit of home again before you leave?”
Jungkook nods vigorously, his eyebrows scrunched up as he eats more.
You find yourself smiling, only realising it when Jungkook mirrors your grin. A giddy thrill and a soft ache twist together inside you like a secret exposed to the light. Unable to bear the eye contact, you look away, hiding your smile by biting your bottom lip.
You notice Jungkook offering you a piece of tteokbokki in your peripheral vision. “No, thanks. I’m really full. I had a lot.” You rub your belly.
“You always used to steal bites of mine, even when you were full.”
“I used to steal your dessert. Not dinner,” you correct him. “I can never have enough dessert.” You can’t help the small laugh that escapes you. “But that was when things were... different.”
Jungkook’s playful expression fades slightly. He chews slowly, contemplating your words. “Does it have to be that different?”
A delicate confession that hangs heavily in the air.
The warmth in your chest tightens, and you’re reminded again. Reminded of the reality you’ve both been trying to avoid – more so you than Jungkook.
“Maybe it does,” you reply, giving him a small, almost imperceptible nod. “Things change, people change.”
The weight of your words settles over both of you like a cold shadow.
Jungkook’s eyes search yours, as if trying to find a crack in the wall you’ve put up. “But what if some things don’t have to change? What if...some things are worth holding on to?”
So much longing and regret in his words, his eyes, his heart – he is blue everywhere.
“It’s not that simple, Jungkook.” The ache in your voice betrays the calm you’re trying to maintain. “We can’t just go back to how things were.”
He steps closer, and his familiar scent surrounds you again, making it so hard to act rationally when so many past memories swirl in your mind.
“I know we can’t go back. But I don’t want to lose you completely. Can’t we find a way to be something else? Something that works?”
The idea of keeping him in your life, even in a different way, tugs at you, but you know the danger in that. You know how easily the lines could blur again, how much harder it would be to protect your heart.
That reminds you, there are still pieces of Jungkook left in your room; t-shirts and sweatshirts scattered in your wardrobe.
Taking a deep breath, you push off the counter. “Before I forget, there are still some of your things in my bedroom.”
You catch the sudden confusion in Jungkook’s eyes, but you don’t let it deter you as you pad into your room.
“It’s just a few of your shirts. I’ve been meaning to give them back to you, but uh, I wasn’t sure how to approach you because I didn’t want to contact you, but anyways.” You grab the neatly folded pile of clothes from the back of your wardrobe. “Now you’re here, so.” You hold the pile out to him.
He regards his forgotten clothes with a slight raise of his brow. His hands don’t move to take them.
“They’re old anyway,” he says. “I don’t need them. Just throw them out.”
You hesitate, holding the pile tightly.
You won’t throw them out. He knows that too.
“Fine,” you shrug nonchalantly, storing his clothes back into your wardrobe. They sit there, a constant reminder that he still has a place in your life, even when he shouldn’t. Haunting every little corner that still belongs to him. But you’re just as guilty, allowing him to do so.
When you turn around again, you see the loaded expression on his face, and your immediate response is to ignore it – redirect his attention before he starts digging up old feelings, past memories, and forgotten promises that will only make you doubt the walls you’ve tried to put between you.
“I think you still have some tteokbokki left-”
“___.” Jungkook interrupts you, grabbing your hand. You feel the warmth of his skin, and you’re mortified and comforted at the same time. “I thought we would always speak comfortably with each other. No hiding, no walls – just the truth.”
“That was before the breakup,” you counter, barely able to hold his gaze. “There is no we anymore.”
“How can you say that when our whole lives have been intertwined? We can’t just pretend it all meant nothing, erase everything.”
“Being with me is an inconvenience for you, Jungkook.”
“Is that why you broke up?”
Ah, right. You never told him the real reason.
The night when you broke up with Jungkook was a bit chaotic.
You hadn’t planned on ending the relationship. Threads of worry had plagued you for some time, and you had been considering breaking up with him, but you never had the courage. You loved him, still do. And losing the one person you’ve trusted since childhood was terrifying.
But that night, while waiting for Jungkook at your favourite convenience store, you grew impatient. Waited for so long that you started eating ramyeon without him. As you sat by the window, gazing at the night sky, you decided that tonight you would break up.
Jungkook had always been busy, and you never minded it. Didn’t even mind it as you were eating ramyeon while pondering how to tell Jungkook. But Jungkook had so many things on his plate, so many worries, and you didn’t want to make his life more complicated by being his girlfriend. He tried so hard to always respond to your texts, tried to call at reasonable times instead of the middle of the night after practise, and promised to meet you at times other than when the sun had long fallen.
Jungkook needed to prioritise things that were more important to him.
And knowing his selfish tendencies, you needed to help him a little.
“Part of it, yeah,” you answer.
Jungkook doesn’t hesitate when he says, “You’re worth the inconvenience.”
You think he holds your hand a little tighter, but maybe you imagined it.
“I’ve never loved anyone as much as I love you, and that night, I – I didn’t know if I would ever feel okay again.”
Jungkook was so used to you giving in. Was so selfishly used to having you whenever he wanted, that once you finally pulled away, his world had lost its gravitational pull. Suddenly, he was left adrift, circling aimlessly like a planet that had lost its orbit.
“I still don’t know. I miss you every night and keep wondering how to move on, but I’m not sure if that will ever happen. How do you move on from a love like ours?”
He’s known you for almost his entire life, and having you completely erased from his life felt like something he could never get over. Jungkook went a little insane. Everyone around him noticed his change in behaviour, but he pretended to be clueless, perhaps as a foolish act of hoping that you might return, change your mind, want him again, and never leave. It’s the hopeless romantic in Jungkook that makes him cling to shreds of hope for a better ending – a happy ending.
And maybe it’s not so hopeless after all, he thinks, as he watches your eyes sparkle with gentle love when you meet his gaze.
“Have you never thought about calling me?” he asks. “Never wanted to text back?”
“I almost do every night.”
“What makes you hesitate?” Jungkook steps closer, and it’s so dangerous, but you can’t keep pretending you don’t want him.
Which is why you whisper your next words, staring down at the small space retaining between your bodies.
“Because I know that I’d forgive and not fight.” You want to force your eyes back to him, but can’t. “It’s not like I wanted to break up. I just did it because I thought it was the wisest decision for us.”
“___.” It’s just a soft murmur of your name, slipping off his tongue with more love than it should, and it sends your heart fluttering far too easily. His voice draws your gaze up to him, and you’re met with eyes brimming with pure yearning and raw adoration. You never forgot how he looked at you, but you did underestimate the intense pull of his gaze – how it stirs something deep within you, even now.
“I thought it was for the better, but...” You trail off, lost in his eyes, forgetting what you were trying to explain and deny. Because what does it matter? How does anything matter when he’s here – when he’s here and not a single bit of his love for you has wavered?
Jungkook cups your cheek with his free hand. It pulls you closer to him. His thumb brushes gently across your skin, and the world outside of this moment blurs into insignificance.
You can feel your resolve crumbling, the walls you’ve built around your heart starting to fracture. It’s terrifying and comforting all at once, the way he’s always had this power over you – the way he can unravel you with just a look, a touch, a simple word.
“I don’t want to let you go,” Jungkook says, his voice tight with emotion. His hand remains on your cheek, as if he’s afraid you’ll slip away if he lets go.
“Neither do I,” you confess, barely believing your own words. But voicing it out loud seems to untangle something within you that had been knotted and confused for so long.
Jungkook’s eyes search yours, making sure he heard you right, that this moment is real and not just another dream he’s afraid of waking up from. His thumb stills on your cheek, and you can feel the warmth of his palm spreading across your skin, grounding you, anchoring you.
“Is this okay?” He leans in the slightest bit.
You nod, muttering a small “Yeah” as your gaze lingers on his sparkling eyes, the soft curve of his nose, the tiny mole beneath his lip – everything that reminds you of longing, comfort and the feeling of home.
The moment his mouth presses against yours, you feel a surge of warmth. It’s tender and soft, his mouth brushing against yours with a mix of hesitance and longing. As the kiss deepens it becomes more fervent, more urgent, as if he’s trying to convey everything he’s been holding back.
Your lips move with a slow, deliberate rhythm, and the touch of his tongue sends shivers down your spine. There’s a slight pressure as he cups your face, wanting you closer, while his other hand slides down your back, settling on your waist.
“I hope you know that I didn’t come here with these intentions.” Jungkook murmurs against your lips, his voice husky. But you guide him towards your bed.
“I know. It’s okay.” You straddle his lap. “You wouldn’t be here if I didn’t want you to.”
Jungkook’s hands are eager and exploratory, skimming over your shoulders, your back, and down to your ass, giving it a firm squeeze. His chin rests in the crook of your neck as he breathes in deeply.
“You don’t know how much I missed you,” he mumbles, nose tickling your neck as he snuggles closer to you. “You missed me too, right?” he speaks with an innocent pout on his lips that you don’t even need to see – you know it’s there.
“Of course I did. Why would you think otherwise?” You run your fingers through his silky hair, which is a comfort for both you and him.
“I think I just need to hear you say it.”
He draws back, and a soft smile touches your lips as you see the achingly tortured expression contorting his face – traces of love and relief at having you so close, right where he wants you.
“I missed you.” You keep your eyes on him.
“Again,” he urges softly.
“I missed you.”
Your fingers gently curl around his face.
Jungkook’s lips brush against yours in a fleeting kiss. His forehead falls against yours as your words sink into him, straight to his heart.
“One more time? Please?”
A giggle slips out of you. “I missed you, Jungkook.”
Your laugh dies in your throat when he crashes his lips against yours, more forceful and passionate this time, pulling you so close to him, you feel everything.
Your hips move on their own, instinctively grinding against his lap. He’s hard and the bulge is right where you’re craving him the most. You kiss turns sloppy and needy and it’s filled with heavy breathing.
Jungkook’s hands are all over you. His touches leave tingling sparks everywhere. You’ve gone months without him, and every little brush of his finger makes you lose your mind. Especially when his hand dips into the front of your tiny shorts, lightly grazing the pad of his finger against your panties and making you twitch when he brushes over your clit. You break the kiss, inhaling sharply.
“I wanna make you feel good.” His words are hushed, a slight tremor tinging his voice. His fingers disappear into your panties, rubbing his middle finger along your folds and spreading your wetness. Jungkook is tender as he moves his finger, and you wish you could see him playing with you, watch him be so soft with you because he loves treating you with delicate care, and you love feeling like you’re everything to him.
Your hips buck as he circles your aching clit. You start whine softly as Jungkook applies a little more pressure, his steady, deliberate movements intensifying the sensations as he continues to rub your sensitive spot.
“You like it?” His gaze fixed intently on your reactions to his touches. His doe eyes drink up every nuance of your face and body – each twitch, shudder, and breath. His expression brightens with a trace of satisfaction.
“Feels good,” you reply shakily.
He has you making his fingers all sticky and wet. As Jungkook slowly teases your hole, drawing tiny circles and ever so slightly dipping the tip of his finger inside, your eyes close and your breath catches while you anticipate the familiar stretch of his finger.
Jungkook slides two fingers inside you, and your brows furrow as you feel them burying deep within your pussy. He moves them slowly, each stroke eliciting soft, breathy moans from you. The gradual, teasing rhythm amplifies your pleasure, and with each tender push, your senses heighten, making you ache for more.
“Move your finger like – oh. That’s right. Don’t stop, please.”
His fingers brush against your sweet spot continuously, making you grip his shoulders tightly, your nails digging into his skin as you try to anchor yourself and try to tame the soft trembles of your body as the pleasure reaches you everywhere.
Jungkook holds you close to him by having his hand placed firmly on the small of your back. He keeps you perched on his lap while you lose yourself in the feeling.
As the pleasure builds, you find yourself melting into him, whimpering his name in a gentle hush. The soft sounds of your voice blends with the rhythmic movements of his fingers.
Jungkook feels you tightening around him. He doesn’t increase his pace but keeps his steady pattern going, exactly how he knows you like it. You hide your face on his shoulder, overwhelmed by the fast-approaching high. Your muffled noises sharply contrasting with the squelching sounds coming your shorts.
“Let me see you,” Jungkook gently requests, tugging gingerly at your shirt to draw you back. It’s just a delicate tug, but it’s enough to pull you away from him. You’re too immersed by the intense feelings enveloping you to fully respond.
He catches the exact moment when your moan gets caught in your throat, your lashes flutter shut, and the sweetest glow settles on your face as you reach your climax.
He doesn’t tease you, instead, he lets you revel in the wave of euphoria that pulses through you, your thighs quivering as you gradually come down from your high. As our breath steadies, your foreheads touch, and you exhale heavily through your nose, tickling Jungkook’s face.
He smiles. His eyes reflect a deep satisfaction, because you’re happy and that’s enough.
Jungkook’s hands travel to your sides and he slowly strokes his palms up and down. Your body is warm and shaky and he wants to hold you forever.
“Is it okay that I want more?”
You nod, kiss him, probably a little deliriously, answering, “I want it just as much.”
Your hand glides under his sweater, fingers tracing the contours of his toned stomach. Jungkook wastes no a time pulling the sweater over his head, tossing it carelessly behind you. He helps you shimmy out of your shorts, discarding your clothes in a hasty rush, stealing giggly kisses between each movement, because you need to feel. He playfully comments on how cute your panties are. His finger lazily skims over the little pink ribbon before the material sinks slips down your legs and pools around your feet in a small heap. You giggle shyly.
Just as you want to sink onto your knees, Jungkook grabs you by the elbows, not letting you.
“Want you on the bed, ___. I need to feel you,” he says, voice strained with desperate need. Jungkook leads you onto the bed, gently laying you down. Your head sinks into the soft pillows. He spreads your legs, settling himself comfortably between them.
Your hair is fanned around your head against the pillow. Jungkook can’t help but stare, utterly captivated. He brushes a few strands away from your face, his fingertips lingering as if memorising every curve. His gaze holds a quiet affection, mingled with a sense of awe, like he is seeing you for the first time and falling for you all over again.
A curse slips his mouth as she stared down at your bare pussy, glistening and shining just for him, looking so pretty only for his eyes. For a few seconds, he allows himself to rub his tip over your wet folds. Just gentle brushes, nothing more. You don’t stop him, letting him play a little.
Jungkook is painfully hard, and he dares to slide his tip further down to tease your hole a little. His stare is fixed downcast while he pokes his cheek with his tongue to distract himself from the urge to push himself all the way as he minimally dips his head inside. Jungkook’s so sensitive, he thinks he could cum like this. He’d go insane if he slipped his cock into without protection. He’s let his mind wander to this fantasy a few times and he so desperately wants to feel all of you with no barrier, especially after not having you for so long, but you both have to be careful.
Someday, when you’re older, Jungkook thinks. When he can love you endlessly without always having to consider the consequences.
“Jungkook.” You pull him back to reality, and a faint pink flush colours his face.
He bends over and opens your nightstand drawer, searching for a condom. His fingers brush against several plastic foil packages, and he pauses, lost in thought. He thinks back to the last time he was over at yours. How many were left in the drawer then? Is his mind playing tricks on him, or were there more condoms the last time he was here?
While Jungkook’s mind drifts to you every night his head falls against the pillow in a different city each night – have you been letting other boys warm your bed?
You say his name again, forcing him out of his racing thoughts once more, this time with a note of impatience.
Jungkook tears open the wrapper, tosses it away along with his doubts, and focuses on you again. You chose him, and for now, that’s all that matters to him.
He rolls it down his length. Your eyes fixate on the slow connection of your bodies. Once he’s fully inside, a shaky whimper escapes your throat, trembling as it leaves you. Jungkook begins to move his hips with deliberate thrusts, and your head rolls back, eyes drifting to the ceiling as Jungkook finds his pace.
“You’re so pretty.” His eyes roam over your naked figure, so much adoration and maybe a hint of obsession hiding in them. The white covers beneath you are messy and chaotic, and you lie on top of them like a delicate masterpiece, a striking contrast to the chaos of the bed. The soft light casts a warm glow on your skin, highlighting every curve and contour. The soft swells of your boobs move with every thrust and he enjoys the sight of it.
You grow a little shy beneath his intense gaze. You turn your head and cover your face with your arm.
Jungkook lowers himself, clicking his tongue as he gently pulls your arm away. “Don’t.” His grip is firm on your wrist and he holds it against the covers, preventing you from hiding again. However, his hold on your chin is careful as he guides your gaze back to him. Fingers slightly caressing your skin. “I love everything about you, baby.” His words coax a small smile from you, which he acknowledges with an approving nod and a smile of his own. “You don’t need to hide from me.”
“It’s just been a while.” You bite your lip. The shyness still lingers, like spotting your crush in a crowded room and instinctively hiding, feeling all giddy inside.
Jungkook slows a little, buried so deep inside you, but his movements are precise, hitting the spot that makes your tummy clench.
“I know,” he says softly, tracing his thumb over your lip to free it from your clenched teeth. He plants a little kiss on your mouth, his tongue sliding over your bottom lip to soothe the ache you’ve caused yourself. “I don’t think I’ll last long,” Jungkook admits as his round nose brushes your cheek. You’re so wet and snug around him that he has to focus intently to keep from coming right away. You’re too good, too pretty, occupying every corner of his mind. “Missed you so much. You don’t even know.”
Jungkook’s head falls into the crook of your shoulder. His moans grow a little louder as he moves faster again. He can’t help himself. Feels too good. You wrap your legs around him, allowing him to bury himself even deeper. You pull him closer, throwing your arms around him to have him as close to you as possible while Jungkook repeatedly tells you how much he has missed you and loves you, how he never wants to let go of you and keep you to himself forever. How you are meant for him just as much he is meant for you.
Jungkook sneaks one hand between your bodies and grasps your breast. Keeps a firm squeeze around your flesh while your bed rhythmically hits the wall. All the tender murmurs and quiet gasps of your love had been missing from your room for so long that you began to doubt if Jungkook would ever again fill your bed with his warmth and whispers.
You feel the heat rising on your skin, growing with each passing second, and you can sense it on Jungkook’s body too. His back is hot, slightly slick with a sheen of sweat, and you can’t resist digging your nails into his muscled shoulders, leaving chaotic, frantic lines across his skin. A whine, which you try to suppress, tumbles from your lips as the tingling sensation spreads through you.
Jungkook pulls back, his movements weary yet determined, and peers at you through heavy-lidded eyes.
“Jungkook,” you mumble weakly, and he nods, because he knows.
With a gentle but firm motion, Jungkook shifts, guiding you both onto your sides. He slips an arm beneath your waist, holding you close to his chest as he continues to move inside you. The new position allows him to thrust deeper, and you gasp. His other hand slides down your thigh, hitching your leg over his hip to open you up further.
The intimacy of the position, with your bodies so close and intertwined, makes everything feel more intense, more personal. As you move together, your eyes lock. You see in his eyes the reflection of your own emotions, a mirror of longing, affection.
Tears begin to well up in your eyes, not just from the overwhelming pleasure, but from the sheer depth of the moment, the intimacy of it all, and how much you’ve missed him.
He notices the tears glistening in your eyes. “Baby,” he breathes. “Are those tears for me?”
“I’ve missed you so much.”
“I’m not letting you leave me again.” It’s a promise wrapped in desire. “That’ll never happen again.”
His hand on your waist grips you tighter, and his thrusts become more urgent until you’re both teetering on the edge.
Jungkook’s hips stutter as he loses control, and with one final, deep thrust, he’s all the way inside you, spilling into the condom with a low groan. At the same time, you reach your peak, your body clenching tightly around his length, breathy puffs escaping your lips as the intense tremors take over. Jungkook’s holds you steady through all of it.
He stays inside you, savouring the warmth and closeness for a few more moments before carefully pulling out. He presses soft kisses along your shoulder and neck, his breath still uneven as you both come down from the high.
Later, after Jungkook asked if it’s okay to stay – just as you had been plagued by the thought that he might want to leave, and sighed in relief upon realising you were on the same page, lovesick and obsessed after finding each other again – and after he asked if he could borrow one of his old t-shirts and you giggled, saying they are his anyway (they are more yours than his and you both know it), you’re now cuddled up in bed with your head on his chest, right on top of his heart where you belong.
“Forgot how comfy your bed is.” He nuzzles deeper into the mattress, wriggling beneath you.
“You should visit more often, then.”
Jungkook sniffs a surprised laugh at your flirty remark.
“I should, huh?” He brushes his knuckles over your back. “After the tour, I’ll make sure to drop by as often as possible,” he says. “So much that you might get sick of me.”
You smile. Banter and flirt and giggle with him a bit more before you both drift off to sleep.
But you wonder, every time your eyes flutter open in the dark, is it actually this easy to fall back into normality?
Pretend the last few months didn’t happen and continue as you had never been apart?
Questions swirl in your head all night long, but the answer to your doubts lies right beside you. Unlike you, he isn’t awake, grappling with what’s right and wrong – he’s softly sleeping, peacefully unconscious of your turmoil.
It makes you think, is it really this simple and you’re just too much? Or is it all a mess, and you’re the only one trying to make sense of it?
Maybe you had it all wrong.
And you wonder, the next morning, are you really that surprised to find the spot next to you empty?
