The story takes place in Night City — a place where dreams either come true or get dumped in a ditch. V is a solo merc whose head has become a prison for a ghost — the engram of legendary terrorist Johnny Silverhand. Problem is, the Relic is slowly rewriting her consciousness, counting down the days until her personality is wiped for good. A routine gig at the Kabuki market brings her face to face with Lee Robertson — a rogue netrunner on the run from NetWatch, a data thief living in the shadows of neon signs. Their first meeting — a gun to the back of her head and a system hack — turns into an unwilling partnership. "NetWatch, huh... This netrunner could be useful, V. Those corpo fucks were trying to buy the experimental biochip from Arasaka — my engram," Johnny hints. Even so, V isn't exactly thrilled about the forced team-up. But from hate to love is just one shot away. Or one data breach that just might save V from the Relic...
