Weak Hero Characters Crushing on a Reader With Curly Hair
Synopsis:
A collection of headcanons and short scenarios about different characters falling for a reader with curly hair. From shy compliments to protective moments and awkward confessions, each character slowly becomes attached to the very thing you’re insecure about.
Your curls may be messy, hard to manage, and constantly commented on by others, but to them, it’s one of the prettiest things about you.

────────────
Yeon Si-eun
That was one of the first things Si-eun noticed about you.
Your hair.
He had seen curly hair before but not often. So when you walked past the bus stop with your friends laughing beside you, he looked up from his phone for a second too long. He even took one AirPod out just to glance again at the way your curls bounced when you walked.
Then he quietly put it back in and looked away.
That was all.
At least that’s what he told himself.
Eventually he ran into you at cram school. That’s how you both officially met. Si-eun was the smartest student there so naturally everyone wanted to partner with him. Most people found him intimidating but you never pushed his boundaries too much. You spoke softly to him. Never too loud. Never too invasive.
He liked that.
One day you walked into class with your hair straightened.
Everyone complimented you immediately.
“It looks so pretty!”
“You should wear it like that more often!”
You smiled shyly and sat beside him like always.
You waved at him.
He stared for a moment.
“Your hair…” he said quietly.
“Yeah?” you asked while touching it nervously.
“Why did you do that?”
You blinked at his bluntness.
“Oh. I just think it looks better straight.”
Your voice sounded uncertain.
Si-eun noticed immediately.
He nodded once and returned to his math problem.
As time passed, the two of you started talking outside of cram school too. You took the same bus home so somehow you always ended up sitting together in silence.
He also noticed you straightened your hair more often now.
One afternoon he looked over at you.
“You’re going to damage your hair.”
You frowned.
“What do you mean?”
“Your curls. They’ll get fried if you keep doing that.”
He said it so casually that you almost got offended.
“Well maybe that’s what I want.”
He looked at you quietly.
“You shouldn’t want that.”
You looked away.
“I look better with straight hair.”
Si-eun clicked his tongue softly and stared down at the pavement.
“I think you look nice both ways.”
You looked at him in surprise.
“But curly hair suits you more.”
His voice stayed calm and nonchalant like always but if you stared long enough, you would’ve noticed how red his ears became.
You smiled softly.
“You think so?”
“Yeah.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
The next day he expected to see you with straight hair again.
Instead you walked into cram school with your curls out naturally.
He looked up immediately.
You smiled at him before sitting beside him.
Si-eun looked at you for a second longer than usual before returning to his work, trying very hard to hide the tiny smile threatening to appear.
⸻
Ahn Su-ho
Su-ho was finishing deliveries like usual.
He parked his bike outside an apartment building and grabbed the food bag before heading upstairs. He knocked on the door and waited.
Then you opened it.
“How much?” you asked softly.
And Su-ho stared.
Your curls were everywhere. Puffy from humidity and slightly messy.
Without thinking he spoke.
“Bad hair day?”
Your expression dropped instantly.
“Excuse me?”
Su-ho’s eyes widened.
“No no. Sorry. I didn’t mean it like that.”
You snatched the food bag from him while he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.
“I just never saw hair like that before.”
You raised a brow.
“You’ve never seen curly hair?”
“Here and there…” he muttered awkwardly.
You handed him the money.
“Well now you have.”
Then you shut the door.
Later that day Su-ho told Si-eun everything while riding together on his bike.
“Of course she got offended..” Si-eun deadpanned.
“Man I messed up. I wanted to ask for her number too.”
Si-eun sighed.
As if fate wanted to embarrass him further, the light turned red near a crosswalk and Su-ho spotted you waiting nearby.
“That’s her!” he whispered excitedly.
Si-eun glanced over before immediately looking away while Su-ho stared at you like a lovesick idiot.
A few days later Su-ho showed up at your apartment again after work.
This time with food he paid for himself.
You opened the door looking confused.
“I didn’t order anything.”
“It’s for you.” he said quickly. “As an apology.”
You blinked.
“You really didn’t have to do that.”
“I know. But I wanted to.”
Then after a short pause he added,
“And maybe get your number too.”
You laughed softly.
“Smooth recovery.”
He grinned proudly.
You typed your number into his phone.
“I’m y/n.”
“Ahn Su-ho.”
You handed his phone back.
“And your hair really is nice!” he added quickly.
You rolled your eyes playfully.
“Thanks.”
Su-ho nearly short-circuited.
⸻
Go Tak
Jun-tae invited Go Tak to a café after school.
Go Tak didn’t mind. He liked hanging out with Jun-tae.
When he walked inside, he immediately spotted him sitting with you.
You were smiling brightly while lightly hitting Jun-tae’s arm as he laughed nervously.
Go Tak slowed down slightly.
“Oh there he is!” Jun-tae called.
Go Tak walked over while quietly taking you in.
Your curly hair was tied into a ponytail and your oversized shirt nearly swallowed you whole. Somehow you still looked pretty.
“This is my friend y/n,” Jun-tae explained.
You smiled immediately.
“I’m y/n. Nice to meet you.”
Go Tak awkwardly nodded.
“I’m Go Tak.”
You eventually left after chatting for a bit and the second you were gone, Go Tak looked over at Jun-tae.
“She’s… interesting.”
Jun-tae blinked.
“She’s really nice.”
Go Tak only hummed.
Later that night curiosity got the better of him and he searched through Jun-tae’s Instagram followers until he found your account.
Every picture somehow made your curls stand out more.
Days passed before he saw you again.
He was heading toward basketball practice when he spotted someone sitting alone on a bench.
He only saw your back at first but immediately recognized your hair.
Then he heard a group of guys nearby laughing.
“Her hair looks insane.”
“Looks like she got electrocuted.”
Go Tak stopped walking.
“You shouldn’t talk about people when they aren’t here to hear it.”
The guys immediately quieted down before walking off awkwardly.
You turned toward him.
“You always pick fights with people?”
He shrugged.
“They were annoying.”
You smiled knowingly.
“They were talking about me right?”
He avoided your gaze.
“Maybe.”
You laughed softly.
“I’m starting to think you have a crush on me.”
Go Tak nearly choked.
“No I don’t!”
His face turned red instantly.
You laughed harder.
“I’m kidding.”
He sat beside you with crossed arms.
“I just think you should ignore people like that.”
You looked down at your curls.
“I’m used to comments about my hair.”
“Well stop listening to them.”
You looked at him curiously.
“Why?”
He looked away awkwardly.
“Because you look good.”
You grinned.
“So you definitely have a crush on me.”
“Stop saying that!”
⸻
Seong-je
Seong-je already knew who you were.
You were the only girl in school with curls like that.
Every time you walked past him in the hallway, he noticed the scent of your shampoo before he even saw you.
One evening he was sitting in a PC café completely focused on his game when he smelled that same scent again.
He looked up.
You were standing nearby deciding where to sit.
The second you noticed him staring, you hesitated.
“Oh sorry..” you mumbled nervously.
Most students avoided Seong-je because of the rumors surrounding him.
He adjusted his glasses slightly.
“I don’t care. Sit.”
You awkwardly sat across from him with the computer monitors separating you both.
For a while only keyboard clicks filled the silence.
Then suddenly he spoke.
“You go to Eunjang High right?”
You blinked.
“Yeah.”
He already knew that.
He just wanted to hear your voice.
After a few more minutes he looked over again.
“Why’d you change your hairstyle?”
“Huh?”
“You used to wear it down.”
You touched your ponytail awkwardly.
“Oh. It was getting annoying.”
“That’s not the reason.”
You stayed quiet for a second before sighing.
“People keep making comments about it.”
Seong-je slowly turned toward you.
“Who?”
“The guys at school mostly. They joke around and—”
“Ignore them.”
His voice was cold now.
“You shouldn’t care about idiots like that.”
You nodded quietly.
The next day at school the comments suddenly stopped.
Every single one.
No one dared mention your hair anymore.
Not after Seong-je scared the life out of every guy who ever joked about it.
⸻
Seo Jun-tae
Jun-tae was browsing manga at Barnes & Noble when he noticed you.
You stepped beside him quietly while looking through the shelves.
He immediately moved aside out of instinct.
“Excuse me” you said softly.
Jun-tae looked at you for a second too long.
Your curls framed your face perfectly and somehow reminded him of characters from the romance mangas he secretly loved reading.
He thought you looked really pretty.
He just didn’t know how to say that.
You noticed the manga in his hands.
“Which ones do you recommend?”
Jun-tae nearly dropped the book.
“Oh um… this one!”
He quickly handed you a volume of Bleach.
Your fingers brushed against his and he froze.
You smiled warmly.
“Thank you. What’s your name?”
“Jun-tae!”
He mentally cringed at how loud he sounded.
You giggled softly.
“I’m y/n.”
After that you both kept running into each other at Barnes & Noble until eventually it became routine.
You’d sit together quietly and read for hours.
Jun-tae especially loved your hair.
The way your curls bounced whenever you laughed reminded him of anime heroines.
One afternoon while reading together, he noticed you staring at another girl nearby.
Then he heard you mumble quietly,
“I wish I had straight hair.”
Jun-tae looked up immediately.
“Huh?”
You sighed.
“I just think straight hair looks prettier.”
He stared at you in disbelief.
“Your curls are pretty!”
The words left his mouth before he could stop them.
His entire face turned red instantly.
You smiled softly.
“You think so?”
“Y-yeah.”
You laughed quietly while he avoided eye contact for the next ten minutes.
⸻
Oh Beom-seok
Beom-seok walked into the café alone.
Si-eun and Su-ho were both busy so he decided to grab a drink by himself.
He stood quietly near the register until he heard your voice.
“Ready to order?”
He looked up nervously.
You smiled at him warmly from behind the counter and his eyes immediately drifted toward your curls.
They looked soft.
Cute.
Pretty.
“N-not yet,” he stammered.
“No worries. Take your time.”
He looked down shyly before speaking again.
“What do you recommend?”
“The iced matcha,” you answered brightly. “It’s my favorite.”
After that day he started visiting constantly.
Mostly just to see you.
Eventually you noticed him always coming in during your shifts.
One afternoon you handed him his drink and he noticed writing on the cup.
Your number.
His ears immediately turned red.
The second he got home he texted you.
Then asked for your Instagram five minutes later.
Eventually the two of you started hanging out together after school.
One day while shopping, you paused near the haircare aisle.
“Ugh. I don’t have enough money for these.”
Beom-seok looked at the products.
“I can buy them for you.”
You shook your head quickly.
“No. It’s okay.”
He noticed how embarrassed you looked and quietly dropped the topic.
But later that night he texted you to come outside.
When you did, he awkwardly held out a bag toward you.
Inside were all the curly hair products you wanted.
The large sizes too.
“You really didn’t have to do this…” you said softly.
Beom-seok looked away shyly.
“I wanted to.”
You smiled warmly.
“Thank you.”
He blushed hard.
“Anything to keep your curls nice.”

Park Hu-min (Baku)
Baku was at the park with Go Tak, Jun-tae, and Si-eun.
He was making shot after shot while loudly hyping himself up.
“Too easy!” he yelled while pointing at himself dramatically.
Go Tak rolled his eyes.
“You’re actually a monkey.”
Baku gasped dramatically and stuck his tongue out at him.
The game continued until Baku suddenly stopped mid-shot.
The basketball slipped from his hands completely.
Jun-tae quickly grabbed it and scored instead.
“I did it!” Jun-tae cheered happily.
Go Tak blinked.
“How did you lose focus that badly?”
But Baku wasn’t listening.
He was staring.
The others followed his gaze and immediately spotted you walking around the park with earbuds in. Your school uniform moved gently with the wind and your curls bounced with every step.
Your hair looked soft. Free. Pretty.
Baku looked completely mesmerized.
“Stop staring at her like a creep..” Go Tak said while smacking his arm.
Baku ignored him completely.
“She’s so pretty.”
Si-eun sighed while Jun-tae scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
“Dude don’t harass her” Go Tak warned. “She’s gonna file a restraining order.”
Baku glared at him.
“That’s the love of my life.”
“You don’t even know her..” Si-eun replied flatly.
“Well then I should fix that!”
Before anyone could stop him, Baku ran toward you.
“Creep.” Go Tak muttered.
You looked over in confusion as a tall guy suddenly appeared in front of you with the biggest grin imaginable.
“Hi! I’m Baku!”
You blinked slowly.
“…Hello?”
“What’s your name?”
“I’m y/n.”
Baku’s smile somehow got even bigger.
“Pretty name!”
You tilted your head suspiciously.
Was he making fun of you?
“I like your hair!” he added excitedly.
That immediately confirmed your suspicions.
You looked past him toward his friends. One was giggling. Another looked bored. The shy-looking one looked horrified.
Yeah. Definitely a joke.
You scoffed and walked away.
Baku froze in place before slowly turning back toward the others.
“What did I do wrong?”
Go Tak burst into laughter while Si-eun sighed for what felt like the hundredth time that day.
Baku quickly chased after you.
“Y/n!” he whined dramatically.
“Dude leave me alone you creep!”
You walked faster while Baku stopped in defeat.
Later he flopped dramatically onto the basketball court.
“She hates me.”
“I told you she’d get a restraining order.” Go Tak laughed.
“What did I even do wrong?!”
Si-eun looked exhausted.
“She probably thought you were making fun of her.”
Baku looked genuinely offended.
“I would never!”
“Go Tak was laughing the whole time..” Si-eun explained. “And your flirting was weird.”
Jun-tae nodded carefully.
“It probably embarrassed her.”
Baku immediately turned toward Go Tak.
“So this is your fault!”
Before Go Tak could react, Baku threw him into a chokehold while he yelled dramatically.
“GET OFF ME!”
⸻
Days passed and Baku could not stop thinking about you.
He played horribly during basketball practice because he kept remembering your face.
One evening he sat sadly inside his dad’s restaurant eating chicken while dramatically mourning the loss of “the love of his life.”
Then the restaurant door opened.
Baku looked up lazily before immediately sitting upright.
Those curls.
That hair.
It was you.
“Y/N!”
You immediately recognized him and turned around to leave.
But Baku rushed forward and gently grabbed your wrist before you could walk out.
“I swear I wasn’t making fun of you!”
You looked unconvinced.
“That seriously wasn’t my intention!”
He looked so genuinely distressed that you paused.
Then suddenly he grabbed a chicken wing from a nearby box and held it toward you.
“Please believe me! Look! Have some chicken!”
You stared at him in disbelief before laughing despite yourself.
“Maybe you weren’t trying to be rude..” you said while pulling your hand away, “but don’t wave chicken at me.”
Baku immediately nodded.
“Yes ma’am!”
After that things became surprisingly easy between you both.
Baku always wanted to hang out with you.
And secretly, he became obsessed with your curls.
He wanted to touch them so badly.
They looked soft and fluffy and he constantly wondered if they felt like clouds.
But he forced himself to behave because he didn’t want to mess your hair up.
One afternoon you both walked together while talking when you suddenly stopped in front of a salon advertisement.
Baku looked over curiously.
It was advertising straight hair perms.
“I think I’m gonna get one.” you said quietly.
Baku blinked.
“What? Why?”
“I want straight hair.”
His face dropped immediately.
“But your curls are so pretty!”
You blushed slightly at how blunt he always was.
“It’s like a cloud!” He continued excitedly. “A ramen cloud!”
You stared at him.
“You just compared my hair to ramen.”
Baku panicked instantly.
“No wait! Ramen is good! I mean your hair is good! Not that I’d eat your hair— wait no! Not that I’d eat YOU—”
You burst into laughter while he dramatically covered his face in embarrassment.
Eventually your laughter softened.
“I won’t get it then.”
Baku looked up immediately.
“Really?”
You nodded.
His entire face lit up.
“THANK GOD!”
A friendship like theirs is something I can only dream of 😭😭...my boyss
