why is dory from finding nemo actually kind of a like. devastatingly painful character. its kinda crazy like everything about her character, given attention in the entire second movie is just. a mentally disabled person not only struggling with her disability but being mistreated by literally every single person in her life over and over and over again. like. like that is a fish from a kid's movie with a condition i dont think is even real in that way(?) but it really scratches an itch deep in soul in how most bad things that happen to her are not only because of her disability but because nobody is ever willing to help her. she is treated like a freak at worst and a nuisance at best even by those closer to her and even though she forgets she gets to be told again and again and again that its all her fault and we get to see her have breakdowns and in every breakdown all she can think is that its all her fault because she was made to believe it so many times its one of the only things she remembers. she finds her parents again after getting lost in a freak accident when she was a literal toddler and all she can frantically say to them is "im sorry im sorry i tried to fix it but i couldnt" even though absolutely nothing about how she got lost was her fault. she tried to fix it but she couldnt. i feel insane do i have the right to relate to thois fish
