today (march 20th) marks 23 years since the u.s, uk and their allies invaded iraq following years of sanctions (economic terrorism) that killed half a million children. leaving a trail of death, the occupation alone killed over a million iraqis and violently displaced millions more, becoming the world's largest displaced population after palestine during that time. they decimated and looted very aspect of iraqi life, culture and land whilst arms traders, private security firms and corporations like halliburton and bechtel made billions. now, 23 years later, iraq still suffers the effects of the amerikan occupation (though occupation never ended, it just morphed into neocolonialism.) whilst its architects and its butchers roam free - children born with defects and cancer rates worse than hiroshima, poverty, widespread corruption, destabilization. amerikan influence is still prominent, with power over its politics and oil revenue (did you know that all of iraq's oil revenue is held and controlled by the national federal reserve in new york and that amerika can withhold funds at any time?), as examples. amerikan troops continue to remain on the ground in iraq whilst they conduct airstrikes across west asia - iraq, iran, palestine, lebanon, yemen.
