if taylor swift said this about trump or desantis they would be dead within the week
english major brain: words can evolve and develop as a society goes on. the way a word is used is its definition. it's pointless to hold onto the idea of right vs wrong words human brain: THAT IS NOT WHAT LARP MEANS!!!!!
Larp is the most immersive, passionate, creative, and knowledgeable nerdy community I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. How the hell did it end up being used as an insult to mean "fake fan"?! Linguistically, it doesn't even make sense either cause it's not a word; it's an acronym. Live action role player has no place being used instead of poser, phony, faker, or any of the other myriad of words we already have for this kind of situation. And the only excuse I've seen people use when this is pointed out is some bull along the lines of "it sounds funnier to say larp". Good to know you value the sound of a word over the fact you're using the most dedicated people a fanbase can have as an insult intended to mean the opposite.
real but i wanna take a step back forna second to enjoy the implication that english majors aren't human
friend of mine recommended a video essay that's like 5 hours long about why it's currently a whole Thing for fascists to claim they only eat meat and demonize vegetables etc etc, and it's genuinely quite well researched in many places and contains some fascinating history and has made me feel very weird about my status as an adult who enjoys drinking milk. but I've not finished it and I genuinely don't know if I will because at one point the ol' "you can't say you care about animals and also eat animals" chestnut got dropped by the white vegan essayist and it put such a bad taste in my mouth that I had to leave instantly
like idk man it just feels genuinely parodic to dedicate hours to analyzing how foodways have frequently been used as white supremacist propaganda and then casually toss out an argument that pretty invariably demonizes indigenous hunting practices with 0 regard for traditional knowledge and land stewardship guiding those practices
Every time I hear a white vegan say that I want to throw the rubble of the Klamath Dams at them.
The largest dam removal in U.S. history. So successful that the salmon that haven’t run freely in the river for literally over a century came back the next year. Not steady progress over a decade as expected, the very next salmon run they came home. No one alive saw salmon in that river outside the hatcheries kept by native’s tribes and the Department of Fish And Wildlife scientists desperately trying to save them. One of the activists who helped bring the suit spoke of their dying grandmother making them promise to bring the fish home, and they didn’t know how that was possible, but they spent decades doing it.
The legal basis for successfully suing the power company who owned the dams was Indigenous treaty rights to eat the fish. Eating the fish was the one thing in a century that succeeded in being a clear and legally binding right that superseded the desires of white capital and industry. I have been going to the public interest environmental law conference off and on for 20 years where a lot of organizing for Undam The Klamath happened. I’ve heard updates about every legal tact they tried as they happened, and they tried everything.
There are healthy, thriving salmon, trout, and lamprey in a rewilding and recovering Klamath River right now as a direct result of Indigenous people eating them. Of their legally binding right to eat them. They sure as fuck care more about those fish than any white vegan ever could. They are salmon people that the Creator sent Salmon to feed, while charging the People with protecting and stewarding them. It’s not possible to learn about salmon and trout in the Pacific Northwest without learning this, and it’s unambiguously racist to dismiss this symbiotic relationship.
The white vegans are trying to get all hunting and fishing banned in Oregon, and that’s quite possibly the single most catastrophic thing that could be done to the animals here because we killed off all the major predators of creatures like deer and without anything hunting them their numbers will explode, eat all the vegetation, destroy the ecosystem, and then die along with everything else in that failing ecosystem. Controlled hunting of deer is vitally necessary for the deer to survive. This is something Native people know, but patronizing racist savior-complex white people refuse to listen to.
I have a whole collection of Oregon’s Public Broadcasting’s documentaries about Klamath River or the larger story of fish and people in the region. If you watch nothing else, watch Klamath Dams Are Coming Out, First Salmon Ceremony, After The Dams, and First Decent (Native made). It could not be clearer that the salmon are being protected and nourished by the people who eat them, and that stewardship is a massive part of their creation myths. But it contradicts political vegan dogma so they don’t listen.
The Klamath River Runs Free
#also do you have any idea how much conservation is funded by people who want to eat those animals#at least in the us anytime someone buys ammo or hunting equipment or hunting licenses that money goes directly to state wildlife agencies
Bradward Boimler
Does Brad Boimler from Star Trek: Lower Decks eat pussy?
Yes
No
Okay so 1. my immediate reaction is yes, but he's terrible at it. And then I imagined what would happen if Mariner found out that was why he was having sex partner troubles, and suddenly this B plot is playing in my mind (imagine this happening during a shootout with some Pakleds):
Mariner: Oh, buddy, don't worry, I'll teach you!
Boimler: Uhh no thanks! I don't even know what you mean by that and nope!
Mariner: Come on, Boims, I've taught half of Starfleet.
Boimler: I didn't want to know that!
Random ensign [bleeding out nearby]: she's... a really good... teacher...

Donald Trump desperately trying to initiate the Red Scare 2 but no one giving a fuck is hilarious to me. The GOP has already villainized and fearmongered about immigrants, transgender people, DEI hires, ANTIFA, etc. and introducing a new supervillain hiding amongst us just isn’t working. I wish there was a communism WAS the greatest threat to America.
During yesterday’s speech he said something to the tune of “The communists want to seize your house and give it to your neighbor.” which shows how out of touch he is, how advanced his dementia is and how the Red Scare tactics of the 1950s are not applicable to the 2020s because no one owns their house anymore and most of us would prefer our house being owned by our neighbor instead of our landlord.
The Red Scare tactics of the 1950s are sooooooooo outdated in today’s world. Saying shit like “Under communism, the government will assign you a job and you will not get to pick!” would make 85% of my generation be like “That sounds awesome, I’m so sick of AI job interviews, just got rejected for the job I applied for shoveling elephant shit at the zoo.”
the GOP: “the communists are going to make it so you all work assigned jobs and live in houses that all look the same-“
gen Z: “you’re telling me i can get a guaranteed job without wasting my life away constantly applying everywhere and i don’t have to live in an apartment? sign me up”
Vaguely irate, faintly nauseous, and ambiguously uncomfortable in a way where you can function and act normal, even though you'd much rather be face down on the ground doing the worm while shrieking like a banshee in a rock tumbler.
Typical Monday in August
It started raining like a punctured bladder almost immediately after, to my instant relief. No idea what I'm going to do with this information since I don't control the weather, but I guess that's what helps sometimes.
Have you considered pressure-sensitive migranes? Nausia can be one of the symptoms and it doesn't necessarily need to include headaches as a symptom. My mother always knows when it's gonna rain, and hates the wind
With suficient levels of pattern recognition and willful ignoring of other observable patterns, I could probably convince myself that I can summon rain by being in a bad mood.
...Wait I wonder if this is how some weather summoning witchcraft myths started. Getting cause and effect mixed up so "this person is always irate and gets mad at random shit just before a storm" becomes "every time someone pisses off this person, there's going to be a storm on everyone's asses."
i didn’t know perez hilton was a stage name that he purposefully modelled after paris hilton’s real name i thought she just organically had an evil gay wario or something
Pronoun roles on discord servers aren't a bad idea, but there is the fun implication that you can ping an entire pronoun set.
Hey I got a problem with something, this is an all they/thems on deck situation

What other animals would benefit from a hammerhead variety?
never thought this day would come but i’m currently having a customer service experience so bad right now that i’m defecting from the employee regiment and joining the customers in their next battle. i don’t know who i am anymore.
experience that makes me research local customer service supervisors for a global corporation and tag them in a LinkedIn post, to fall upon their mercy.
long story short i have worked for a call center in customer service before and i knew something was not working out. i've had to call about this issue 5 times in 4 weeks because it's still not resolved, and each time the conversation has ended i've asked for an email confirmation of our conversation and a ticket number so i can call back and reference it with a new representative.
well every time i've called, the new representative has been like "i'm so sorry, but there's no ticket by that number. i have no record of you ever calling about this. i'll start a ticket for you."
finally, the fifth time i nearly burst into tears of frustration and i said "i don't want you to start a ticket for me, because it will be the sixth ticket created for this same issue. every week, one of your colleagues tells me they'll create a a new ticket for me, and then nothing happens."
they said, "i'm sorry but i have no record of those tickets existing." and i was like i KNOW. but they doooooo what is happening.
finally i got transferred to a supervisor's supervisor.
if you've ever worked in online customer service, you know that when a customer calls with a problem, you create a "ticket" that puts that issue into the system. if you can't resolve it, it goes into a ticket queue, where other people with the ability to resolve it select it, put it into their personal working queue, and resolve it.
well after 30 minutes of searching, this supervisor tells me, dumbfounded, that she's discovered a completely unique queue she's never seen before, where my tickets have been going somehow. a pocket universe queue that no one has access to or can edit or select from, not even her. she has no idea what's happening. she's like "yes, here are all your tickets, and no one can open them or comment on them or resolve them.....this is crazy......" and it's JUST my tickets in there. no one else's. of tens of thousands of customers.
all professionalism fell by the wayside. i told her i've worked with those queues before and also found that totally wild. she was like "what the hell is going on...." and talked me through everything she was seeing and how gobsmacked she was. we were both like "this is one for the books truly"
tells me she's going to have to bring this up above herself because this is a really big error on like, a coding level, that she has no idea how to resolve. tells me she will personally call me back tomorrow to update me.
four days pass with no word.
i call customer service again. random agent. explain the entire situation, including that last bit.
agent says "i'm sorry but i have no record of those tickets existing. i'll have to start a ticket for you. rest assured, it will be resolved."
i said, "no it won't be. it never will be. because they're in the special queue."
clearly not believing me, they said, "i've heard nothing about that. i'll start a new ticket for you."
So I've seen the post going around that's kind of like "kids should be able to read whatever they want and not have their choices censored by adults" and I largely agree with one caveat which is that children need to be able to opt in. I remember being 12 and sneaking some dirty books, and being interested and excited to read a book with something more sexy in it, and no one died, and everything was fine, and I was not forever scarred. However I do remember being shown a a horror film at seven by a babysitter and not being able to sleep for three weeks, and if I'd known how scary the movie was I wouldn't have wanted to watch it.
Kids can usually know what they can handle. Kids cover their eyes at scary points in films, kids read past stuff they aren't ready for. But it is good to be clear like "Oh that book might have some scary parts you might not like, are you sure you want to get that one?" Or "Oh this book has some grown up things in them that you might have a hard time understanding, I want to check that your okay with that." Like give kids the warnings and options and they will probably make a safe and informed decision. It doesn't have to be either or.
I also think kids should be allowed to be wrong about what they can handle without getting in trouble for it. They should be able to go to the adults in their life and ask for help processing what they saw or read without fear of judgement or punishment.
And kids (and anyone) should be allowed to change their minds at any point.
A selection of some of our fave Harvey Guillén fashion moments in 2025!
Harvey showcased a lot of new designers throughout the year, alongside his ongoing collaborations with Christian Siriano!
His Emmys fashion journey showed this in microcosm: he slayed in Bishme Cromartie to announce the Emmy nominations, in Siriano at the Creative Arts Emmys, in Harry Halim at the Primetime Emmys, and in Cucculelli Shaheen at the post-Emmys parties.
Harvey continued to highlight sheer textures in his looks and added a new twist with temporary tattoos on his arms for a couple of red carpets. He introduced pleated pieces by Homme Plissé Issey Miyake and explored new ways to show some skin with backless outfits by Siriano and Jonathan Marc Stein early in the year. He leaned into leather with a stunning photoshoot also in Jonathan Marc Stein, repped fat positivity with a Mameko Maeda Tenga X Artist sweater, and featured eco-friendly fashion with Romina Cardillo at the premiere of Companion. Plus, he revived one of his earliest fashion collabs, with Ashton Michael, at the 2025 Latine Honors.
Check the image descriptions for the events and designers for each look!
Which 2025 Harvey fashion moment is your favorite? We can't wait to see what he wears in 2026!

data is literally not even a man. often when someone has expectations of him that he will fulfill a masculine gender role, he is either unable or unwilling to do it. he doesn't want to hurt anyone, or be a jerk, or do something wrong. he wants to be a Human. he didn't choose his appearance and gender, but he let his daughter choose her own appearance and gender... another notable data gender moment is when the freud hologram assumes that he must feel emasculated by his lack of sexual desire, but he doesn't feel that way at all. what he actually feels is that he lacks something that humans have, not something that men specifically have. but data also is trying so hard to conform to the expectations of others and doesn't trust his own feelings because he doesn't even believe that he has any. it's so sad...
