Akane being a control freak is so important to me. Someone who lost her life at a very young age due to the cruelty of others. Yet she has the power to pull the strings back in her favor. The power to control who lives and dies, who falls and who saves her. As the world is falling apart around her she has to save the world. She controls whenever she lives and dies. She controls the deaths of those around her if they don’t follow the right path.

But it’s not a result of cruelty. Not at all. She cares for people. She loves Junpei. She wants to save the lives of six billion. She’s controlling for the sake of never again being powerless. Because she can’t go back. She can’t be afraid again. She only gets to suffer and die on her own terms.

That’s why zero time dilemma is so particularly interesting for her. It’s Akane at her powerless. No longer pulling the strings. She’s afraid. She watches Junpei die multiple times and she can’t save him the way he saved her. She loses it whenever he dies. She’s even willing to directly kill anyone who hurts him.
