OCD in media is usually completely misrepresented or very watered down so people don't realize how truly odd (even funny, on better days) it gets. when i was a teenager i struggled most with Harm and Responsibility OCD. i feared i'd become unconscious and harm someone somehow, or accidentally poison someone, or 'go insane' and attack someone at random. i became completely avoidant of using knives, which could ofc be used to harm someone. but on the train of harming someone while sleep-walking or in a fit of madness, i started to fear that if i fell asleep while focusing on this intrusive thought, that would make it happen. somehow (i don't even remember anymore, I was 14), i began to imagine i could feel the impression of a knife in my palm, and imagining that feeling would make this whole catastrophe come true.
so the compulsion i finally landed on to relieve all those intrusive thoughts? i simply had to go to sleep while holding something else in my hands. it had to be pressed firmly in my palms. that way i couldn't imagine the 'knife feeling' and i wouldn't be the first human being ever in history to somehow go on a sleep-walking murder-spree.
even after i did a lot of OCD therapy, it became such habit that for maybe 13 years i still felt most comfortable falling asleep pressing my blanket into my palms.
which is something someone watching me sleep might not even notice, but if they did and asked why, the answer is so convoluted it's difficult to even begin. and that's OCD!
ban men's sports i have seen enough
someone makes me coffee pretty please 🥺

At the having a headache awards
i step out onto stage clad in full corpse paint and death metal regalia and start playing the most middle-of-the-road soft rock you've heard since 1974
i do think oil executives should be considered mass murderers and treated as such. they knew this was going to happen
The zionist occupation has seriously injured 173,514 people in Gaza, destroyed the overwhelming majority of hospitals, and maintained constant blockades on aid leading to essential medicines running out. Over 20 thousand people like my friend Fadel are waiting on emergency medical evacuation and are trapped by Israeli travel restrictions and coordination costs which can be tens of thousands of dollars per person.
The occupation bombed my friend's house while he was still inside, and though he survived, he has been waiting for medical evacuation for years. In this time, he has been without adequate shelter, food, clean water, or consistent access to medications to manage his disability. His conditions have gotten more severe the longer he is forced to endure these genocidal conditions. Fadel has developed severe anemia requiring frequent hospitalization, and his medications now cost $800 a month, not including pain relief.
Today, @fadell-aldany told me that he now has to take a new type of medication that's substitute for a previous one, because it's no longer available due to these shortages. New medications come with side effects, like overheating, which is especially difficult because it is extremely hot in Gaza and he lives in a crowded camp in a tent with no way to cool down. Please help him raise the funds he needs for healthcare, nutritious food, and clean water.
Demand nothing less than the end to the settler-colonial project and a free Palestine from the river to the sea!
My friends, I do not want to go back to the multiple fainting spells I have experienced. Please stand by me and help me to buy my medicine urgently. Please do not leave me in this predicament.
In 1970, Sir Ian McKellen and James Laurenson made history with a kiss in a filmed production of “Edward II”
In 1969, Sir Ian McKellen and James Laurenson starred in a production of Christopher Marlowe’s classic Renaissance play Edward II as part of the Prospect Theatre Company. The production would lead to the first gay kiss to be shown on television in the U.K. Edward II is one of the earliest English history plays. A contemporary and rival of William Shakespeare, Marlowe dramatized the ill-fated king’s reign and highlighted his relationship with one of his “favourites,” Piers Gaveston, an English nobleman who was rumoured to be his lover.

Hey guys it's still naidoc, please consider donating to an aboriginal organisation. The funding for a lot aboriginal orgs (the parts that dont get stolen) frequently get cut off from the government under "budget" excuses and facism is on the rise in australia.
If you can donate to causes you care about (whether its disability, dv protection, health or lgbt rights) you can make a big difference to a community.
I don't have links right now, I plan to do a big post in future. you can look up local aboriginal organisations in your area, such as your local aboriginal council or you can scroll through this link for official organisations.

HOW TO START (2026)

How to Start by rthwrms
for the times when you really truly want to do something, but find resistance or that starting feels impossible
most helpful action to get into a task is: look at it options include: review what you've already done open the tab on screen blur your eyes at first if that helps fullscreen the image browse or skim relevant texts let your gaze move around how it will JUST...LOOK!!!
Your brain has resistance towards starting the particular project in the way that you've previously conceived of it. Instead of fighting that resistance, try to change your approach to starting your work. Ie, start with colored pencils on a piece you were doing in gouache, include a new stitch in a crochet piece, Step one: identify the process Step two: identify places where something new can be included Step three: brainstorm new options to fill these spots Step four: select one or more options and try your piece from this new angle
encourage yourself by asking questions start with: "What am I actually trying to do right now?" then try: "What would this look like if it were more fun?" "How would I do it if anything was possible?"
divide into discrete tasks make the closest or shiniest one literally as small & specific as freaking possible

A big part of ableism is the inability to understand that being able to do something occasionally with great effort being able to it for 40 hrs/week.
