Turns out that #Hux's new neighbour #Poe loves flying way too much to mind him being a witch. Phew.

GINGERPILOT WEEK: Day 1 - “Oh no, he’s hot”

Poe and Armitage had known for a long time the other by name. One day, new videos accompany their military briefing. Discovering that your enemy is just your type was not what they both expected from the meeting.

Poe is a Batman-esque hero called the X-Wing and Hux is his butler (who used to be a member of the mob).  Finn and Rey are the equivalent of something like Super Man and Wonder Woman, Rose is a plucky reporter who works with Finn at his day job

They both have chronic back pain from being worked so hard in their youth. Their kids are in their twenties now and Hux has empty nest syndrome, but he hides it by fiddling in the garden and his workshop. Poe, a flight instructor, retires early because years of sitting in a cockpit for long hours have ruined his joints. BB-8 zips around as fast as ever and Poe laughs in self-deprecation at not being able to keep up with him. 

Hux and Poe make love slowly, tenderly, looking back fondly on their early years but incandescently happy with where they are now. Hux wears a big floppy sun hat when he gardens, Poe makes them both iced tea. They live somewhere with bright sunshine and crickets in the surrounding trees. Small transports fly over the house a few times a day. It has the feel of the country. Town is a 20 min speeder ride away. Poe still drives too fast, makes hair pin turns, laughs when Hux clutches at him. They stroll around the little market, buying what they can’t grow themselves. 

Summary: Armitage Hux allows himself a moment of grief during the annual celebrations of the Fall of the First Order.

The cheers of celebration echoed around him as fireworks lit up the night sky, the joyous occasion impossible to avoid on Coruscant. The fall of the First Order was a milestone marked around the galaxy with festivities, billions upon billions of species celebrating their freedom from the oppressive regime that had attempted to follow in the Empire’s footsteps.

For Armitage Hux, this annual event was a challenge. He’d started a new life and moved on from his role as General in the First Order, but on a day where everyone else celebrated, he allowed himself to grieve the loss of a career he’d given everything to, talented colleagues he’d worked alongside and technological advancements he’d pioneered that had been lost with the Order’s Star Destroyers.

He’d spent his life trying to prove himself to his father and superiors, to ensure that he was deemed useful (valuable even), only to have it ripped out from under him when the First Order fell. He’d presented himself to the Resistance, accepting whatever fate they decided on, determined to face the loss as a General would instead of running to the far reaches of the known galaxy as some had chosen.

There was leniency and goodwill shown to him in those early days, much more than he felt he deserved, but the information he’d provided to them in his quest to destroy Kylo Ren had been essential in helping them to win the war - giving him the unlikely status of a ‘defector’. He’d stood tall at his trial, refusing to allow his assigned defence to hide his crimes in any way and had been speechless when he’d been spared execution.

@gingerpilotweek Day 2: Soul Mates! Based on the Chinese mythology of The Red Thread of Fate! Soul mates are connected by a red thread that pulls them closer and closer together. Poe noticed and wanted to rush things along.

“Oh no, you’re not leaving.” Poe’s dark eyes twinkle up at him, so big they reflect the starlight. “See, I saved you. That makes you mine.”
