      He had subconsciously already lifted the bird mask over his face. Either from disgust at both the diseased in front of him, or simply to prepare to cure the abhorrent creature. The plague had truly hit him and ravaged his body like roots spreading across the ground. Humanity was such a strange thing, and to think that he was the one that was supposed to cure it all! He would...eventually, even if took a million more times to die. He would always come back, he had a duty to fulfill. And fate, it seems, knew he did. Why else would such a crude lady bring him back? Mother of fates, she sure did play a strange song upon her little fiddle.

      “ I couuld....But you know, I think it would be better to make you stink less too~ ”

      Out of the two, the one who requested was the one that was very clearly the more disgusting one, his disease--his humanity--had spread deeper than any self centered business man. Though it seemed as he summoned his DOME, that it could not quite reach the sickly bird upon his bedding of a perch. Avoid him now, see him later--Reiki knew that in the end he’d get to see humanity purged. But for now, he simply got to work on the one he was given.

      “ Oohh, so dumb of you too, to let me do this in the middle of your kingdom~ ”

      Like a songbird, Reiki chirped loudly, enjoying every second of the process he was committed upon someone, to rework the system of nerves, to rewire physiology. From an outside point it seemed like he was barely doing anything, simply dissecting someone and doing minimal details. Yet there wasn’t a need to mostly see the adjustments he was making. When he was done, he breathed new air, the other looked normal, looked fine...Yet the smell--oh that disease it was GONE! He kneeled down and lightly touched at the passed out man--barely with humanity now--as if to affirm what he saw was gone. His Dome even dissipated to the air, completely chaotic in it’s fluctuation of disappearing.

       “ Oooh-hooo?~ ”

      Well he wasn’t bothering that will Wano girl at the moment, so surely he was fitting the bill already! It wasn’t like he spent every hour of every day bothering small children. It wasn’t even bothering, it was asking then promptly going to OFFER clean water! Oh he was a surgeon, why would he hurt someone who’s sick? He doesn’t kill, after all. Oh but the tall man seemed to have shifted his attention completely on the girl asking in such a rude tone!

      He lifted a gloved hand to his chin and looked over her like something to be dissected, the loose twitch of his nose beneth his mask made clear to indicate his distaste in how she smelled. Diseased, like the girl.

“Yeah, I think I saw a food market near the town center, so we should probably try there first.” Clione was always content to spend time with someone who appreciated food and had an interest in it, even if it wasn’t a fellow cook. This man might be a bit weird, but he was also either incredibly hungry or very interested in food. Sweets, hadn’t he said? Clione could think of a few shops he’d passed earlier in the day that sold desserts, though he had to admit it hurt his pride a little bit to just direct someone hungry to a shop instead of cooking something himself, but he doubted his Captain would want him to invite a stranger into the Tang… 

Still, there was something… off about the man. He seemed way more excited and trusting of Clione than a normal civilian would, and he didn’t seem to realize he was talking to a pirate instead of a fellow civilian. 

The only explanation he could think of for this was that the man was simply too lonely and hungry to care whether Clione might present a danger to him or not. Did he have no one around to help him get food? He seemed rather child-like… and didn’t look like he had anyone with him… 

Clione couldn’t help but feel a bit bad for him. It shouldn’t take too long to help him, anyway. 

“What’s your name, by the way? I’m Clione,” he said with a friendly smile. 

      “ Goody!~ ”

      Reiki chirped excitedly, he was very hungry--for sugar. A good treat before he starts doing the real work. Whether that involves curing this one or not was to be determined. He was doing it well to help him back if he was going to help him! After all, that’s what his cure was--a help, nothing more helpful than being cured of such a deadly disease. Humanity--what a disgusting plague.

      “ Oh I’m Reiki, so nice to meet you Clione!! ”

      Oh yes, so nice to meet someone who plagued his nose with that disgusting smell, what a great thing...Sarcasm. Though his voice was filled with utter and oblivious excitement, nothing would prevent him from being nice--maybe even sometimes passive aggressively nice--to people! So entertaining and fun to see the reactions to people. All good fun and prep for ultimately his perfect gift to give them all.

   This is what he gets for letting himself show desperation. It is what he deserves for trying to take the quickest route out of this mire he finds himself in. The more Reiki talks the more Law realises just how stupid this decision was. Every word reveals a new briar on Reiki’s path, a new thorn that will likely drive Law mad with its prick. Either he’s going to end up being turned into a giant bat or this process will be filled with sarcasm and veiled insults. In either case he’d be letting a mad man near his crew, something he shouldn’t allow.

   Law lets out a low sigh, shoulders sagging and wings unfurling some. He then straightens, strengthening his stance as those wings begin to open. Reiki doesn’t even finish his spiel of mockery before the Hearts Captain comes to a conclusion. If he thinks about this was going to be how this ended anyway. It may take far longer than if he worked with this freak but this is a problem he should solve himself.

   Reiki is right in one sense, Law is smart. Given the time he could figure out this surgeon’s methods. He doesn’t even need his notes on it. With what Law knows about Reiki and his preferred subjects he already has a place to start. It may take years of work but he will discover that ‘Cure’ he creates. Law has no doubt of that.

  “Talkin’ to you was a mistake,” the Surgeon of Death says, hands flexing at his sides. The claws retract, sliding away to become small pointed nails. “I don’t need you. I will solve this on my own. If anythin’ you’d be a hindrance.”

   Wings extend, stretching out to their full length. Then they curl and with a mighty push they begin to flap, creating the lift he needs. It takes a moment but soon Law is pushing himself into the air, hovering just above the building. He then raises a fist, his middle finger extending. To drive his point home Law does something he’s been trying to perfect ever since he got these claws. He extends only the wicked black claw of his middle finger, aggressively flipping Reiki off.

   “So, go fuck yourself.”

      “ You’re so funny sometimes, you knoow? Haaah... ”

      Reiki’s voice was loud and bombastic even as the surgeon watched as the other began to extend his wings. He felt like he would do better with those wings than this now half-bat man. Human still, disgusting! He should just stay that way...Ooor... Reiki smiled innocently beneath their masks as they let out a giggle, it was giddy and mischevious. His eyes closed just as Law’s finger flicked up to give him the bird. He didn’t need any of that immaturity--didn’t Law know this neurologist was the immature one? 

      It took less than a moment before Reiki had adjusted his position just to grab his sickle and his free hand spreading out in front of him, the shining and unstable light of his Dome forming around him and he made sure around Law. It was a rather large Dome--better than a Room--and as Reiki opened his piercing yellow eyes, the view--the knowledge of the area around him became ever clearer. He could enjoy it while it lasted before this imbecile would probably put up his stupid Room too! 

      Reiki’s grip around his sickle tightened as another giggle--louder this time--expelled from his throat. He remained stationary, he didn’t need to do anything yet. If anything, he was waiting for the headache or at least some sort of disorienting feeling to reach Law. Meanwhile, Reiki was staring at Law with wider eyes, with intrigued eyes. He could see, he could feel the information feeding into him. It was so much easier to tell what was going on within the pirate now.

      “ Are youuu....going to summon yours? Are you going to tear me apart? I want to tear you apart. See what really is going on! It’s for youu... ”

      A high pitched giggle, it resembled a bird’s chittering more than any human laugh. The purple splotches of his forehead, diseased and like cysts, pulsated and seemed alive separately from Reiki himself. A plague upon himself--was as humanity had always been. Toxicity in it’s endearment...People found it so apt to try to be more human, or be the top human. Whatever it may be, he found it so pathetically hilarious!~ Thus his laughter continued, no restraint in his bird-like chittering and chirping.

      Especially with the reaction to his creation--no his cure, his fix of some random person who had crossed his path hours ago. They hag begun to shift and change, as that humanity slipped from them. As it was cured... Mmm, that scent as it fleeted from his nostrils and he was blessed by the flower and air around him, how pleasant and perfect. A perfect world would be one where that humanity stench was extinguished. And how much work for one surgeon to do! 

      “ Hmmmmm....... As weird as any other change~ this one simply is more outward, more be-a-u-tiful! Ti Ti Ti! Yes, beau-ti-ful! ”

      Reiki’s tongue clicked against both roof of his mouth as well as his teeth. All so cleverly hidden beneath the grey mask, while dots so curved upward to form that eternal smile!~ For he was joyous to be doing the world it’s dues. As the beast continued to emerge from the human shell in front of them, Reiki turned to his unwelcome company. He narrowed golden-yellow eyes before letting out another--more stable--laugh.

   Law can feel Reiki studying him and it is exactly like how those scientists back at Vegapunk’s lab looked at him. It makes his skin crawl and for a moment he expects to see needles produced to push into his skin, taking blood and giving unknown chemicals. He suppresses the shudder, loathing this new weakness the whole experience has instilled within him. His jaw does tighten, both hands settling at his sides. Fingers curl, threatening fists but he stops them. His claws haven’t retracted and he would prefer he didn’t cut up his own palms.

   Reiki certainly looks like he wants to cut into Law. As someone who often harbours that same curiosity he does understand the impulse. He’s thought about dissecting himself more than once to figure out the muscle changes. Law has done a scan and some self-organ evaluation already so perhaps he could provide his fellow surgeon some of the data he needs. If they worked together they could probably come up with a solution but from what the older wielder of the Op Op fruit is saying Law gets the sense he isn’t interested in co-operating.

    There is a low groan from the Hearts Captain, a hand rising towards his features, which gets turned around so his knuckles press against the skin between his eyes. He listens to that need for clarification, followed by a warning. If it hurts then that’s fine. Law is good with pain but he’s starting to feel like trusting Reiki with his body in any sense is a really bad idea. The guy is just as likely to help him out as he is to make this worse. What if he gets turned into an even more monstrous creature?

    “Okay, I’m gonna back track here. Askin’ you to perform any sort of operation on me was fucking stupid,” Law sighs, wings shifting a little with his annoyance.

   His hand lowers and he fixes Reiki with a long, calculating stare. For a moment he considers just flying away but this surgeon still contains Law’s only hope of a cure. He’ll have to settle on a compromise, or at least something that will allow him to learn from this weirdo. Law just hopes he won’t regret this.

   “Got a better idea. You give me your research on that weird animal transformation thing you do and I’ll figure it out myself.”

      Reiki briefly frowned beneath his mask, with a childish disappointment. He was tempted to summon the Dome just then and there just to get a brief look, but then the fellow surgeon might summon his stupidly named Room and he really didn’t want to deal with a headache at that moment. That’d just ruin his excitement! Who did this to him anyway?? He wants to meet that individual-

      Either way, Reiki crossed his arms and sneered a bit before giggling, his comments filling with a childish glee and the ever lasting hint of sarcasm.

      “ you’re going to draw me with such a GOOD idea? then pull it away just as i get excited? rude, rude, horribly rude! ”

      Raising his arms dramatically, the neurologist turned away from Law with a little twirl on the heel of his right foot. Clearly having a bit of fun making a show out of his reply to such a ‘ better idea ’ that Law had decided. Not a better idea! Honestly...It was disastrous! Though watching this surgeon fail would be funny...Then again, he was too protective over that cure. Sure sure, someone else learning it would be useful--if they also wanted to go about his ‘ wish ’ to cure humanity...But if they didn’t? So useless. Unnecessary! Even dangerous. 

      Can one even imagine if someone or was insane or sadistic got a hold of Reiki’s cure?....Hm.

      “ I don’t even think you can handle learning the cure from meee....plus it’d be so easy for me to reverse that little condition you have if only i got a little bit of time looking you over, taking you apart a bit...playing with a few things~ but you won’t even give me thhaaat choice? i’m sure you can find out how to reverse it on your own, you’re smart aren’t you? ”

      Reiki gave a little giggle as he started walking away to the edge of the roof they had ben chatting on, kneeling down at it’s edge and looking down to the ground. He could jump down...Another laugh passed his lips as he turned his gaze back towards Law.
