According to my nephews Julius Caesar book, Guy Fieri was there.
on the lookout for some funky joints
I had a dream last night that I was eating a big raw red onion as if it were an apple, and wondering what Scott Conant would think of me
He knew better.

AltonâŚhow did you do that babe?
I have mixed feelings about Beat Bobby Flay. Food Network basically took his previous hit, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, and flipped it so the contestants came to Bobby instead of the other way around. Similar to Diners, Drive-ins and Dives (both premiered in 2006), Throwdown provided free advertising to small town businesses - if anything with much more ego, since the premise was that Bobby could probably cook a famous dish better than the featured guest. But it was all in good fun and you got to see the story behind the cooks and their businesses.
Beat Bobby Flay feels like a lazy reinvention. Instead of showing of their home towns, chefs must arrive at the âstadiumâ to challenge Bobby (not unlike a Pokemon gym if you think about it). BBF takes an already-pretentious concept and ups the ante, putting even more focus on Bobby Flay instead of his competitors. Itâs Bobby Flayâs personal, less-stressful version of Iron Chef America. At its core BBF is an excuse for Food Network celebrities to get an extra paycheck and goof around while teasing their good friend Bobby.
That saidâŚIâm not really mad about it (even though it probably sounds like I am). Mindless TV exists for a reason. If you enjoy seeing your fave Food Network personalities hang out and pick on each other, this is the show for you. I admit Iâll watch if thereâs nothing else on and I like the celebrity guests. I guess the real issue here is I miss Throwdown and itâs a shame BBF is the current incarnation we have. But, time marches on, and I can always watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives to get my small-town-business fix.
