It's Sapphic September, and I've rejuvenated the book rec stash with fresh titles! I have to say, I think my favorite types of sapphic stories are the 'she's a little bit fucked up and a lot bit haunted' and the good ol' 'I shall protect you with my life, my lady.'

Numerology is the ancient study of numbers as symbols of spiritual significance. Just as astrology maps the stars to understand personality and fate, numerology reveals the hidden meanings behind numbers—especially those tied to your birthdate and name. Each number carries a unique vibration, influencing everything from your inner strengths and life path to the timing of events in your personal journey.
History of Numerology
While numerology may seem like a modern spiritual trend, its roots stretch back thousands of years. Across cultures and civilizations, numbers have always been seen as more than mere tools for counting—they were believed to hold deep cosmic meaning.
One of the earliest known systems of numerology can be traced to Babylonia, where scholars studied the stars and numbers together. Ancient Egyptians also explored the mystical properties of numbers in their sacred architecture and calendar systems.
However, much of modern Western numerology is based on the teachings of Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher and mathematician from the 6th century BCE. Pythagoras believed that the universe was built upon numerical relationships and that numbers held divine vibration. His system assigned numerical values to letters and revealed personality traits, destinies, and life patterns through simple calculations—a foundation still used today.
Other cultures developed their own systems as well. Chaldean numerology, one of the oldest forms, originated in ancient Mesopotamia and is known for its accuracy and spiritual depth. Chinese numerology, influenced by the I Ching and feng shui, ties numbers to energy flow, luck, and harmony. Meanwhile, Kabbalistic numerology emerged from Jewish mysticism and links Hebrew letters with numbers to uncover deeper spiritual truths.
Though the methods differ, the core idea remains the same: numbers are a language of the universe, and those who learn to read them can uncover patterns that help explain life’s mysteries.
Why Numerology Matters
Every number carries a vibrational essence. In numerology, your name and birthdate aren’t random—they’re codes. When decoded, they reveal insights into your core personality, natural talents, emotional patterns, challenges, and even your soul’s mission. This makes numerology a powerful tool for self-discovery, especially during moments of confusion or transition.
Beyond the personal, numerology also offers guidance in relationships, careers, creative timing, and even spiritual awakening. Many people turn to it when they feel stuck or disconnected—only to find that understanding their numbers brings clarity, validation, and a renewed sense of direction.
In business and branding, numerology is used to choose dates, names, and logos that align with specific energies. In spiritual circles, it’s seen as a bridge between the material and the metaphysical—a way to glimpse how divine intelligence operates through pattern and rhythm.
Ultimately, numerology matters because it shows us that life is not random. There is structure, meaning, and intelligence embedded in the numbers all around us. When you learn to read them, you gain access to a deeper dialogue with the universe—and with yourself.
How to Use Numerology
Numerology can be used as a personal compass—one that reveals who you are at your core and helps guide decisions, timing, and relationships. You don’t need to be an expert or a mystic to use it. All it takes is a basic understanding of how numbers work symbolically, and how to calculate the ones that matter most.
The most popular and foundational number in numerology is your Life Path Number, calculated from your full birthdate. It represents your soul’s blueprint—your personality traits, strengths, challenges, and the overall direction of your life. Many people begin their numerology journey here, as it often explains parts of themselves they’ve felt but never fully understood.
Other important numbers include:
Expression/ Destiny Number – derived from your full name at birth, it reveals your natural talents and life purpose.
Soul Urge Number – calculated from the vowels in your name, it uncovers your inner desires and emotional world.
Personality Number – based on the consonants, this reflects the version of you that others see.
Personal Year Number – gives insight into the energy and themes influencing you during a specific calendar year.

Repeating Numbers - most common ways people encounter numerology is through synchronicities—those uncanny moments when a specific number seems to follow you around. You glance at the clock: it’s 11:11. A receipt totals $5.55. You see license plates ending in 333 three times in a day. Coincidence? In numerology, probably not.
These repeating number patterns, often called angel numbers, are believed to carry energetic messages from the universe, your higher self, or spiritual guides. Each number vibrates with a specific frequency, and when it repeats, its energy is amplified.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the most commonly seen repeating numbers:
111- Manifestation power is high; watch your thoughts
222 Balance and partnership; trust the timing
333 Creative expression; your guides are near
444 Protection and foundation; you're being supported

While the core idea of numerology—assigning meaning to numbers remains the same, different cultures and traditions have developed their own systems. Each system uses unique methods of calculation and interpretation, yet all aim to uncover the deeper patterns guiding human life.
1. Pythagorean (Western) Numerology
Origin: Ancient Greece, popularized by the philosopher Pythagoras
Method: Uses a number chart (1–9) to convert letters in your name into numbers
Focus: Personality traits, life path, destiny, soul urges
Most popular system in the West today; widely used in name readings and birthdate calculations
2. Chaldean Numerology
Origin: Ancient Babylon (Mesopotamia)
Method: Uses a unique letter-to-number chart (1–8 only; 9 is sacred and rarely used)
Focus: Inner vibrations and hidden influences
Considered more mystical and intuitive; often preferred for name analysis and vibrational readings
3. Kabbalistic Numerology
Origin: Hebrew mysticism and Jewish Kabbalah
Method: Based on Hebrew letters and their numerical values
Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's

Accidentally writing a manuscript full of info dumping is every writer’s worst nightmare. Info dumping can distract your readers from the heart of your story and destroy their immersion. Unsure how to accurately describe your story’s setting without info dumping? Here are some tips to get you started.
Tip One: Pace Yourself
It’s important to have the right pace when you describe your story’s setting. This helps ensure you give your readers an accurate mental image of your setting and characters without boring them with too many details.
One easy way to accomplish this is by dividing your information based on the scene.
For example, if you’re writing a scene where a new character walks into the room and find yourself info dumping their appearance, try dividing bits and pieces of their description. Start with a simple description of their general characteristics, maybe their clothes are a certain colour or their face looks worn and tired.
Only move on to describe more details once your scene progresses. Your protagonist could maybe notice how their green eyes glint in the sunlight when they take a seat on the chair beside the window. Or they could unbutton a very expensive coat when they take a seat, with the clothing indicating their status.
This technique can also be employed for layouts and room descriptions. Maybe your protagonist walks into a very expensive ballroom with large bay windows but only notices the breathtaking view on the other side of the glass when they take a break from their dancing.
Tip Two: Only Mention What’s Relevant
If writers always only wrote about what was relevant to their story’s plotline, info dumping wouldn’t be a thing. It’s easy to get excited when you’re writing your WIP. After all, there are so many different things you want to show your readers to make them understand the complexities of your tale. But writers can often find themselves info dumping because of this.
Here’s something you probably didn’t want to hear: your readers don’t need to know everything about your book.
It’s an annoying truth, but something you need to come to terms with when writing.
As mentioned in my previous blogs posts, it’s important to know how much of your worldbuilding should be shown in your book and when to mention which parts of your worldbuilding.
For example, saying a new character had a tortured look in their deep grey eyes that reminded your protagonist of the rumours of their childhood might be intriguing, but it’s important to consider whether or not that little piece of information is relevant to the current scene.
If a piece of description or information isn’t relevant to what’s going on in your current chapter then consider cutting it out to eliminate any info dumping. This is especially important during fast-paced scenes such as fights or emotional revelations.
Tip Three: Set A (Word) Limit
If you’re really struggling with info dumping then try setting a limit to restrict how much you write. Go back to any parts of your WIP that you think have a bit of info dumping and check how many words or paragraphs that part has, then set a goal for how many words/paragraphs you want it to be. Paste that particular text into a different document and start snipping away at unnecessary information or wordy areas until you reach your desired word or paragraph count.
You can also do this for scenes that are overly descriptive. Following the previous examples, if you have a scene where your protagonist walks into a new room or a new character makes an appearance then try cutting out bits of the initial description and relocating them to a later part of your scene in order to meet your desired word limit.
Tip Four: Get Poetic
Do you know when people don’t mind long descriptions? When they are poetic and paint a vivid image in their head. These types of descriptions can help immerse your reader before you move into the heart of your scene.
It doesn’t have to be long or overly dramatic, but a good piece of description can help you set your scene without accidentally info dumping.
However, this tip should be used sparsely throughout your book in order to ensure you don’t constantly break your reader’s immersion. It’s important to ensure your poetic descriptions actually tie into the heart of your chapter. For example, don’t go describing a character’s hair poetically if that character only showed up to tell your protagonist something.
I hope this blog on how to set the scene without info dumping will help you in your writing journey. Be sure to comment any tips of your own to help your fellow authors prosper, and follow my blog for new blog updates every Monday and Thursday.
