Phones. Tablets. Laptops. Ipads. The devices that teenagers spend an average of nine hours a day on. What do they all have in common? One word: Wi-Fi. All these devices allow teenagers to browse the internet for a significant amount of the day. So what are us teenagers browsing in this day and age?

1.   Google

The most popular website has got to be Google. No doubt about it. In fact, it's so popular that majority have it set as their homepage. Why? Simple. Google is the fastest, most reliable search engine that gives us results that are actually relevant. It just about covers everything one could need - search engine, means of communication, maps, media, storage, calendar, the list goes on. It's basically all in one place for you which is extremely convenient for everyone, in particular stressed teenagers who juggle education with family life as well as a million and one other things who are simply too tired and perhaps too lazy to go through the procedure of using numerous sites for the usage of what one website can provide.

2.   YouTube

Alongside Google, YouTube, purchased by Google itself due to its popularity, is definitely a website that most teens spend a huge quantity of their time on. Whether its to listen to music, learn a bit of DIY, catch up on a TV programme, or for educational purposes, YouTube gives it all in the form of videos. With 65% of the worlds population being visual learners, who doesn't like a good video? More important than that, it's completely free to use! Millions of users can upload their videos and gain a bit of fame, and viewers can watch these wide variety of videos at no cost. Like Google, YouTube often displays adverts, but unlike other sites, these adverts tend to relate to the user. So users like them. Marketers get their ads out there. Everybody wins.

3&4. Amazon and Asos

As much as we would like all our services to be free like those provided by Google and YouTube, unfortunately the world we live in requires payment for goods that are not virtual - cue the entrance of Amazon, one of the cheapest online retailers. Allowing students to shop for all their essentials from home at affordable prices, Amazon rates as a student’s best friend unless, of course, that position is already taken, be it by a dog or by another fellow amazon user. With its quick checkout and freakily accurate recommendations, Amazon is the ideal online retailer for any teenager. For those looking to shop for clothes in particular, Asos is a legitimate online retail store where people shop for various amount of clothes, shoes, accessories etc at affordable prices and no tax making it a teen favourite.

5&6. Wikipedia and BBC

One site perhaps not always as accurate, yet still referred to just as often, is good old Wikipedia. Starting from a young age, every teenager is bound to be guilty of the traditional ‘copy and paste’ shortcut to hand in as their assignment. This online encyclopedia just so happens to be the first result of a google search for almost anything. However, when a more accurate source is needed, teens tend to turn to BBC Bitesize, the ultimate virtual revision guide for a variety of subjects across the GCSE syllabus. BBC fills in all the cracks in the pavement that Google leaves, such as news, weather and iPlayer, the most commonly used form of catch up TV, allowing teenagers to watch their favourite TV programmes at times that rotate around their daily lives.

7&8. Facebook and Twitch

As well as trying to be independent, all teens still need their family and friends. Facebook is the ideal site to communicate with such people across the world at no cost. One feature that makes Facebook so enjoyable is the games. Those addictive little games. Those hours you can kill playing games with your friends. And when Facebook isn’t enough there’s always Twitch. One site where you can reach the most played and popular games in order to relax and relieve the stress that builds up in every teenagers life.

9&10. Reddit and Twitter

Where does one go without a specific reason, simply for the reason to be entertained? Reddit. The Reddit community is all about sharing links, stories and images on various topics, and what more do teenagers like than debating and voicing their opinions on a matter they are passionate about? In addition, Twitter provides a platform for teens to share their views with the world, as well as reading snippets of the lives of celebrities. But most importantly, twitter is used to spread love to everyone through memes. At the end of the day, what is teenage life without memes?

All this last-minute planning though has us thinking, what would our ultimate Christmas wishes look like…

2.       Complete tolerance and understanding of each other, our differences are interesting.

3.       To be more brave.

4.       A ride with Beyonce on her private jet.

You will not meet your future husband at uni. Do not, I repeat do not go looking for him. He's not the shy guy sitting in the back of your seminar. He's not the cute guy that approached you on a night out, nor is he your male flatmate. I hate to break it to you, but you will not be finding the love of your life. What you will find is life-long friends. Boys? No. I very much doubt you will find your husband and ride off into the sunset.

Wake up baby girl! That's not what you are there for. You came to study and earn your degree, you came for the experience and to gain some independence, and if you were sheltered, you came for the "baby girl" lifestyle. Don't let a boy get in the way of that. You can meet a guy at any point in your life, and let me tell you, the older they are, the more likely they are to be mature.

Baby girl, you need to focus on loving yourself. The amount of times I’ve heard that a girl threw her education away over her feelings and the actions of a boy… Far too much. This has to stop! Things need to change.

This goes both ways honey, equally don’t try and trap a guy into “financing” your university stay. I’m not being funny, but you have parents, and you are old enough and grown enough to get a job. Do it! There will be plenty of paid jobs on campus, or in the local town.

I’m not trying to be harsh, you just need to know. Study first, act a fool later.

You’ll be glad you were warned.

Nobody tells you the transition from 6th form/College to University. Nobody tells you that you LITERALLY have to make all your own decisions and become independent. It’s okay if you have been trying to live that way for a while… It’s okay, if your parents tried to make you financially responsible and “home trained” you by 16. Nothing can prepare you for Student Finance. You are in this bubble for 3 years, money being thrown at you, with no guidelines on what to do with it. You could spend all of it on clothes, shoes, food, (whatever your poison is), but you’d live off noodles for the next 3 months. Why doesn’t anyone tell you that you have to budget, be responsible and keep your “ducks in a row?”.

Well, since no-one is going to tell you…. I will.

You need to get your self together and make a plan. planning is super important. You need to make sure you know what you are doing, how you are going to do it and LIVE WITH YOUR MEANS.

Overdrafts are lovely, but deadly, like a sunburn. It’s all well and good when you are tanning, and your skin is enjoying it…. Stay out too long… You will be burned.

REMEMBER THAT.

If things get really deep, the mental stress from the “burn” (let’s call it that for now) can be really harrowing. Do you really want to be worrying about money while you enjoy University – the best experience of your life -

I didn’t think so. Take it from me, if your parents are happy to help, LET THEM. You need all the (interest-free) help you can get, financially.

7 billion people… and I managed to meet you.

You were the most fun, happy, encouraging person I knew – you were my best friend. In such a short amount of time, you stirred so much change within me.

Suddenly, I had so much confidence, so much love, so much happiness… And that felt good. Being with you felt good. You were really good at boosting me up to believe in myself, to be the best version of myself. You taught me that if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get the same outcome. Sometimes I still find myself thinking about you… thinking about all the random memories.

Dear The Second,

Mama said,

Never fall in love with someone unless you’re ready to face the consequences.

But I guess you don’t choose who to love.

You were my first – my first everything, and everything I thought I wanted. You were the first to show me life in different shapes and colours, and the world was a better place through your eyes. And the way you looked at me, like I was the definition of a beautiful art piece… You were the first to show me unconditional love, despite my flaws, and the first to look past my insecurities. When I was still picking up my broken pieces, the way you looked at me with your big, charming eyes always made me forget about my scars. The world really was a better place through your eyes, and I fell for you harder than I ever meant to.

But I don’t think either of us were ready for that kind of love.

People grew apart all the time. I guess it was our time.
