Lurch: -grumble-

Morticia: hot chocolate?

Tyler: Did he like the hot chocolate you got last time, Wednesday?

Wednesday: Yes he did. Like Enid and Pugsley, he likes things sweet.

Pugsley: oh? May I try some?

Tyler: of course. Order whatever you would like from our menu -handing them the paper with every thing- I’ll be putting up a menu on the chalk boards every day or so, rotating drinks and coffee brews

Wednesday: have you attempted the recipe I left for you? It is not listed

Vesta: obviously not! That was disgusting!

Tyler: It was interesting?

Little Wednesday: Auntie Eenie’s Furrichino?

Wednesday: yes, mi Diablo

GomezJr: oh? Can I try that? I can taste if it is up to snuff

Wednesday: indeed you can, little menace. Did you try it, Tyler?

Tyler: I did. The steak sauce is really delicious

Lurch: -grumbling proudly-

Gomez: Lurch says thank you

Tyler: In terms of food. Which we haven’t come to general consensus yet? We are thinking of obviously serving the usual breakfast stuff. Breads. Sandwiches. But I want more simple dinner dishes? Maybe a grill? Could we use your steak sauce Lurch?

Lurch: -grumble-

Little Wednesday: Hehe. Yes. As long as he gets free hot chocolate

Tyler: Deal! You, Wednesday will get a quad over ice anytime. Heck you can even pick the lock when I’m closed. Just leave me a note you helped yourself to said drink. And the family gets a discount

Vesta: Is that really a good idea, Ty? What if she robs the place?

Tyler: Wednesday would never do such a thing. And if she were to take something? It would be for good reason

Vesta: You are far too trusting with her and her family. She isn’t even a friend?

Tyler: I have done a lot of bad things to her and her friends. I don’t expect them to ever forgive me? I know Wednesday and her family are willing to give me a second chance. Not out of forgiveness

Morticia: You are right about that. Enid will come around because she trusts Wednesday. And if your Furrichino is good? She will be happy. Eugene may be harder. However he is passionate about his honey and having somewhere else to promote it?

Tyler: like Wednesday with her quad, I’ll give Enid a Furrichino on the house anytime. Sha can come in and make one if she likes.

Wednesday: That would not be wise

Little Wednesday: -snickering-

Françoise: Honey is such a calming food. Eugene? Did he go to Nevermore?

Wednesday: Yes he did. Tyler attacked him. He was in a coma.

Françoise: I remember there being beehives. I was so sad they weren’t maintained

Morticia: You are right.

Wednesday: Eugene was and still is quite passionate about his honey and bees.

Tyler: That’s his outcast flavor right? Having to do with bees?

Wednesday: Swarmer. His passion is bees. But he can communicate with insects as well

Tyler: Other than generally being weird? You’re a psycho psychic, right?

Wednesday: -glaring- I’m a seer. Raven is my distinction. As opposed to my mother being a dove

Françoise: I never did understand the Psychic class

Morticia: It’s complicated. Psychic is very general. Anything having to do with the mind can be classified as Psychic. Most people consider only “mind reading” or “fortune telling”

Françoise: Raven? Dove?

Morticia: I too am a seer. Wednesday sees throngs through a darker lens

Tyler: what was that whimpy artist who I bullied and was into you, Wednesday? His father is a famous psychic?

Wednesday: Xavier Thorpe. Classification Psychic. He draws through dreams and visions. I do not recall if they have a name for it

Little Wednesday: Is he still in town, Auntie Weenie?

Wednesday: I hope not. But I do not know

The menu made its way around

Gomez: Mexican hot chocolate?

Françoise: Oh! Spices from Tenoch. He said that you Gomez loved his chocolate mix. In addition to our natural flavored and colored syrups for drinks and Italian soda he is supplying a Mexican hot chocolate mix.

Tyler: I suppose I can provide a cup for you, sir for free whenever you stop by

Gomez: Thank you, my boy.

Vesta: Just give away the store to them why don’t you?

Tyler: Only Wednesday gets her quad over ice because. Lurch hot chocolate for his steak sauce recipe which we will use in our food and Gomez Mexican hot chocolate because our supplier is related to Gomez. Everyone else in the family needs to pay but gets a 50% discount which is what the employees get.

Vesta: that’s not fair

Tyler: Why not? It’s my shop. Oh and your discount is for you. Not your immediate family. Not for friends. Just you

Vesta: ugh

Tyler: Should any of GJ and Wenny’s friends come in with them, Wednesday? GJ and Wenny will get their family discount and their friends 10%

Wednesday: Thank you. I will talk to Eugene soon. Wenny has a play date with Ruthie next week

Tyler: Ruthie?

Wednesday: Eugene’s little girl. She and Wenny are best friends

Tyler: okay So I have a hot chocolate for Lurch and Pugsley, Mexican hot chocolate for Gomez, a Furrichino for GJ, Quad over ice for Wednesday. That leaves Morticia, Wenny and I’m sorry? You have gotten lost

Jane: That’s quite all right. With in-laws like the Addams? -chuckling- I’m Jane. Pugsley’s wife and Wednesday’s literary PA. Wenny? What would you like? And order something for me as well.

Morticia: I will have a cup of hot Earl Grey tea.

Little Wednesday: Oh! Mama! Orange cream soda!! Two of those please! Small for me and medium for my mama!

Vesta: I’ll get going on the drinks, Ty.

Tyler: That’s all right. My mom will start them. I’ll get the going on the Furrichino and quad. You get back to the inventory

Grumbling Vesta went into the back

Little Wednesday: She does not like Auntie Weenie, does she, Mr Jekyll?

Evan: Thanks for taking care of my little sister. Yoko, was it? 20 years? I take it you’re a Fang?

Yoko: Naturally. Yoko Tanaka. Enid talks about you

Evan: Wait. Tanaka? Of Tanaka Sakagura and Brewery?

Yoko: My father, Kenichi is the current head. Has been for 50 years

Enid: Yoko? How old are you and well, how? I mean is he your actual father or sire?

Yoko: I’m not going to reveal my age. And no I haven’t told Divina either. I revealed I’ve been at Nevermore for 20. My mother was killed. My father, was my mother’s dear friend. Her family shamed her when the father of her child, me, left her. He sired me when she died. He’s always been a father to me. He’s thinking of pairing with a tequila company. I think it he was looking into Sanchez Farms? The one that makes The Foundation’s tequila

Wednesday: Hell no!

Yoko: That’s what I told him during my last call.

Wednesday: tell him to talk to Guzman Farms.

Yoko: -chuckling- Okay! I will mention them to him. Should I tell him to mention I’m the bestie of your girlfriend?

Wednesday: Gomez Addams daughter. Jose is my Uncle.

Evan: yeah. So. Yoko. You and Benson? Are going to keep an eye out on Enid and Bruno. Obviously don’t make it look like you’re there to do that

Yoko: Divina. My girlfriend. I understand. My vampire senses I can hone in on Enid. D is a siren

Evan: she’s got that doofus brother. Kent right?

Yoko: Twin. And yes. Doofus. Can you believe he befriended Wednesday?

Enid: -snickering- too dumb to realize what a threat she was despite being scared

Wednesday: more like realizing I’m better as an ally than an enemy. But yes. And despite my reputation? I do like having friends. I just prefer to be alone at times. I do believe it’s more that he’s afraid of Thing

Enid: so who do you consider a best friend, friend, pal, ally, acquaintance of our group?

Wednesday: You obviously are my best friend. But you are my soulmate as well. And that does not necessarily mean romantic. Eugene and I guess Kent has moved up are friends. Bianca and Yoko, pals. Divina ally.

Evan: So, Wednesday. Are you prepared for Parents Weekend?

Wednesday: I am not. I have discussed things with my father. We are preparing for both the Thorpes and the Sinclairs. One family claims me the other repels me.

Enid: Wednesday? You are prepared to stand by me, right?

Wednesday: of course. As is both my parents, my brother, and both grandmothers. Lurch and Thing as well. Evan. You need not worry. My family is well versed in werewolf lore, culture and rules. Enid. Are you positive you imprinted on me?

Evan: Wait. What? Enid? This is news to me.

Enid: pretty sure, Wednesday. I haven’t had anyone to talk about it

Evan: When?

Enid: Um last year? The blood moon? Before we were sent home?

Wednesday: She fought Tyler

Evan: Wait. In his Hyde form? She wolfed out?

Wednesday: her wolf is magnificent

Evan: -chuckling- Oh my GOD! Mom is going to freak out. I don’t blame you for not telling her. Have you been wolfing out regularly?

Enid: Not until I returned to Nevermore. Just before the new school year started I did.

Evan: Good for you! But I never see you at the cages.

Wednesday: It’s so cruel that werewolves have to be caged. You should be able to roam free and learn to control primal urges

Evan: You’re absolutely right!

Wednesday: keeping were creatures caged up just fuels the urges.

Evan: but that still doesn’t explain why Enid isn’t at the cages

Wednesday: the caging has been unofficially lifted. You did not hear that from me.

Enid: So I’m not breaking any rules?

Wednesday: No. The main reason Principal Thropp hasn’t made it official is she doesn’t trust some students and doesn’t have enough staff to control everyone should some not be able to control the primal urges

Evan: So next full moon? I don’t actually have to report to the cages?

Wednesday: No. You do not. But beware. Nikko and his troops patrol the grounds. You will be found if you misbehave

Enid: Hey, Yoko. This is my eldest brother Evan. He’s cool. Just has to maintain a certain order and “keep up appearances” with my mom. Evs, this is Yoko Tanaka. My bestie

Yoko: So. Divina says she’s taking me to the steakhouse? Enid has a date?

Wednesday: With Bruno. Just don’t get ridiculous with what you order. I can, what is that service, Enid?

Enid: Oh Venmo

Wednesday: yes. Venmo you money. I will be at the steakhouse but in a production meeting with Mr Waipapa, Mr Johnson, Ms Rowling and Harley. Mr Burton will show up if his other meeting ends in time.

Xavier approached

Xavier: You’re here. Great. Wednesday. I’m inviting you to dinner. Saturday. At the steakhouse

Wednesday: I can’t go

Xavier: Nope. Not taking no for an answer. Double date with Enid and Bruno

Wednesday: I have a production meeting.

Xavier: convenient excuse. You used that one before. I’m not buying it. Just move it.

Wednesday: The production has already been delayed by Mr Gunn’s departure and Tyler’s invasion. This is an important meeting.

Xavier: Then why isn’t Mr Burton involved? You didn’t mention him

Wednesday: he has a meeting to discuss his other projects. He may or may not join the meeting. Oh. And Hunter is also attending

Xavier: What about your mother? Isn’t she supposed to be in attendance?

Wednesday: Why are you so concerned?

Xavier: Because I think you’re full of shit. You’re just making excuses to not join me

Wednesday: She has entrusted Mr Waipapa and Harley to watch over me in the presence of Mr Johnson and Ms Rowling. Mr Waipapa has Mr Burton’s authority on his absence and my mother has had a nice interaction with Harley and Jubilee helping them with fencing. Mr Burton also made me Assistant Producer so I have a say in matters. My mother is helping Principal Thropp with Parents Weekend festivities

Yoko: Speaking of which? Are your parents actually coming, Xavier? My father has only missed one? And I’ve been here at Nevermore for 20 years!

Enid: What the fuck, Yoko?

Yoko: Haha. Yeah. I totally goofed off for a few. Took it seriously as well. Decided on taking classes over just because. Become a total menace. Was going to graduate but you and Divina arrived and I changed my mind. Now I’m taking classes I never took before because, well. I can?

Enid: Aww. You know there are university classes as well?

Yoko: Of course. I took those.

Xavier: Argh. You owe me another date then, Wednesday

Xavier left

Evan: Wow. What a menace. Fred told me the other day about how he got sprayed with skunks?

Enid: Oh! He kicked them and their food bowls! They got mad. Served him right!

Evan: How do you know that?

Wednesday: My brother Pugsley is his roommate. The skunks are our pets.

Pugsley: Hold the phone, Mom?! Thing is the right hand of Issac Night?

Wednesday: Tyler’s uncle?

Tyler: He’s related to me?

Thing: -signing angrily-

Lurch: -grumbles-

Gomez: Thank you, Lurch. We are sorry, Thing. That we never told you.

Françoise: Thing. You are much better with Morticia and Gomez. My brother was a mad genius. And not necessarily the good kind.

Little Wednesday: I love you, Thing. Being such a good sport when I accidentally electrocuted you. Sometimes on purpose

GomezJr: And helping me and Papa with our Rube Goldberg devises!

Tyler: From what my mom told me about my Uncle and now this story? I’m glad you’re not still attached to him. I’m sorry for putting you in harms way

Thing: I guess there is that. Even what Fester puts me through is nothing compared to what he did to you, Gomez

GomezJr: Grandpa? Were you really a spark like Papa and Wednesday?

Gomez: Yes I was! I do miss those days. But seeing your father help your sister not only makes me sad for missing out with him but so proud he’s there for her. But you, my mischievous little demon? You’re quite the surprise

Little Wednesday: we love you, Grandpa. You too Grandma!

Wednesday rolled her eyes

Morticia: Now Wednesday. We know you hate being sappy. But I am sure you know how much Thing longed to know where he came from? We just never knew how to tell him

Wednesday: That is true. I am happy for you, Thing. It makes no difference to me that you are separated from the uncle of my nemesis

Thing: I don’t have to be nice to him, do I?

Wednesday: -smirking- Certainly not!

GomezJr: It will be confusing that he has the same name as one of my best friends, Auntie Weenie

Wednesday: indeed. What shall we call him then?

Little Wednesday: This place is Jekyll Hyde Coffee. Is he the Mr Jekyll? Or the Mr Hyde?

Tyler: -chuckling- ah haha. Both!

Wednesday: That is very true.

GomezJr: Wait! You’re actually a Hyde?

Tyler: Yes. As is my mom.

GomezJr: Auntie Weenie? Have you seen him turn into a Hyde?

Wednesday: Yes. And so has your Auntie Eenie and Unca Eugie. They both still have the good kind of nightmares about Tyler’s Hyde. I occasionally have night terrors about the Hyde

Little Wednesday: Is that why you waited until Auntie Eenie left for California to bring everyone here?

Wednesday: Yes it is.

Tyler: Well then. I guess you can call me Jekyll? Kinda fits anyway. Wait. Mom? Did you name me Henry because of, well you know?

Françoise: -laughing- No! I didn’t make that connection until just now either! It’s the name of my grandfather. -laughing even harder- He was a Hyde

Vesta: Jekyll? You’re willing to let these muskrats call you that? Come on, Ty! And why are you even talking to them? -pointing at Wednesday- that one broke into your place TWICE!

Tyler: and I expect it won’t be the last. As I said. Wednesday does as she pleases

Little Wednesday: Might as well give Auntie Weenie a key!

Tyler: -laughing- You are right. But I think your auntie enjoys picking the lock. What should I call you? So it would be confusing when I’m addressing you versus your aunt?

Little Wednesday: Wenny is fine.

Tyler: What do people call you, Wednesday? Not that I will call you anything but Wednesday. I don’t deserve that

Wednesday: Nes. Enid calls me Nessie sometimes. Her little monster

Tyler: Ha!

Vesta: she literally called you her nemesis. Why are you even being nice to her, Ty?

Tyler: because Wednesday and the Addams family are not to be trifled with. They have much history here

Wednesday: And yet you chose to come here?

Enid sat in the back corner of the library waiting for Wednesday. Her brother Evan approached

Evan: Hey Ed. I’ve been sent by Bruno to tell you that he really fancies you. He’s heard a lot about you and how you’re a late bloomer like him and the two of you are a match made under a full moon. He wants to take you out on a date this Saturday night to the steak house in Jericho. He’s made reservations so you can’t say no

Enid: What the fuck, Evs?

Evan: Don’t shoot. I’m just the messenger. I know you and Wednesday are an official couple. Mom won’t like that. And I can guarantee one of our younger brothers will tell her all about Bruno come Parents Weekend

Enid: Ugh. I completely forgot about that. Parents Weekend that is. The Addams welcome me Thanksgiving and Christmas. I feel like they are family already and they are here at Nevermore

Evan: I’m on your side, Ed. But you know I can’t say anything. Being their “golden child” and first born.

Enid: Tell me something I’m pretty sure I already know? Fred.

Evan: Yes. He’s in Caliban Hall. He asked about Xavier. ‘Isn’t that ghoul he’s after going out with your sister?’

Enid: I’m not sure Wednesday would like being called a ghoul?

Evan: I told him that. He’s a rather fearless kind of guy. Not reckless. More like knowing there are risks, while taking necessary precautions, willing to accept consequences and responsibility

Enid: Kinda like Wednesday actually. People usually don’t see that from her or her family for that matter. People see the darkness and assume. But the Addams are actually good people. They just see the world from a different perspective. What kind of an outcast is Fred?

Evan: He’s a Velocidad. (saying it very English/American)

Wednesday: Technically it’s pronounced Velocidad (saying it Spanish) I had a very animated conversation with Granny about outcast names just the other day

Enid: Oh! Howdy, roomie! We were just talking about you. Have I actually introduced you to my eldest brother, Evan?

Wednesday: No. Hello. Wednesday Addams. I suppose I should ask you for permission to date Enid since you seem to be the actual ‘man of the house’

Evan: -chuckling- Yeah. Our father is such the milquetoast. And all our mother cares about is status amongst our clan and others. Our brothers are so immature.

Wednesday: status means nothing if you have nothing to stand on or back it up. My were-clan relatives in Mexico are considered ‘bottom feeders’ where mere status is concerned because of the myth/legend behind the creatures they are. But in terms of financial stability and independence they are quite elite

Evan: Oh? Let me guess? Cupachubla?

Wednesday: chupacabra. Yes. Your mother would be wise actually to align with the Addams and Frump clans. Even my Great Grandmother Fitzgerald.

Enid: Oh! Have you been talking to her?

Wednesday: not yet. I did do some research. And I’ve talked to Granny a little about her. She is glad she came to me to guide me.

Evan: Any were-creature other than a werewolf is an atrocity in her view.

Wednesday: Werewolves are among the weakest of the were-mammals. Too many pack rules.

Evan: Ouch? But you’re not wrong. Many clans are breaking free of the strict pack rules. But there are still many more like our mother

Enid: Back to the beginning. I don’t want to go on a date with Bruno! Wednesday? Can you arrange to have dinner at the steakhouse?

Wednesday: -taking out her phone- I’m already going. I’m meeting with Teariki, Hunter, Harley, Mr Johnson and Ms Rowling about the production

Enid: by yourself?

Wednesday: Teariki gets that I’m only 17. My mother is okay with it. There is also Harley. She’s 22 and my mother enjoyed talking to her She’s had some great conversations with them both. Evan. What time is Bruno’s reservation?

Evan: Six pm

Wednesday had texted someone while talking. She was now dialing the steak house

Wednesday: Hello. This is Wednesday Addams. Do you have any reservations open for 5:45 on Saturday? You do? Fantastic. Yes. For two. Under Benson

Enid: Wait what?

Wednesday: Yoko and Divina will be dining at the steakhouse Saturday night. They have been made aware of your date with Bruno and keep an eye out in case I cannot

Evan: Thanks for keeping an eye out for my little sister

Morticia: It doesn’t seem to be open yet

Wednesday: That is all right. I will just pick the lock again

Pugsley: Again?

Gomez: That’s my little demonio!

Vesta: You again!

Françoise: Ah! You must be Wednesday? Tyler’s friend?

Wednesday: more like nemesis. But willing to let bygones be bygones and give second chances

Françoise: Morticia? Morticia Frump?

Morticia: It’s Addams now. You remember Gomez? Issac’s best friend? Wednesday is my eldest child. And this is my son Pugsley. These are his children GomezJr and Wednesday

Françoise: it is nice to see you again. I am sorry about my brother

Thing peered over Wednesday’s shoulder

Françoise: is that Issac’s right hand?

Morticia: We call him Thing. He is a part of our family now

Vesta: What the hell is going on here?! You can’t just break in here like that!

Tyler: -walking out of the back- Hey, Wednesday. Vesta. You will find that Wednesday does what she wants. I see you brought the entire family. Except where’s Enid?

Wednesday: Off to California to film foodie content and visit her eldest brother and his family

Tyler: I see. Vesta. Why don’t you take the rest of the day off. My mom and I can handle the rest of the work today

Vesta looked suspiciously at the Addams family.

Vesta: Are you sure? I’ve done some digging into the Addams family. Did you know Wednesday was accused of ‘attempted murder’ of the Westfield High School water polo team?

Wednesday: The charges were never filed when it was agreed that I be sent to Nevermore Academy in Jericho Vermont and undergo court ordered therapy counseling

Tyler: Valerie Kinbot. While I confessed to you, Wednesday that I started to enjoy the killing? I do look back at some and regret them. Valerie mostly. She didn’t deserve that.

Wednesday: she was a horrible therapist. But no. She certainly did not deserve to die like that. I saw the look in her eyes as she died looking at you

Ms Hamilton: Wednesday? -holding up an advance reading copy of Blood Will Reign in her hand- What is this, young lady?

Wednesday: It surprises me that a writer of such fluff and made up lore to suit your narrative is on an advance reading copy list for horror and dark fiction

Xavier: Trying to be teacher’s pet by giving her a copy? I’ve yet to see a copy and I’m you best friend!

Wednesday: Other than the copies I have, Xavier, I have no control over who my publisher chooses to give books to. And you are anything but my ‘best friend’ let alone someone I consider a friend at all

The class started mumbling realizing what the teacher has in her hand

Ms Hamilton: I will ask again, Ms Addams. What is this?

Wednesday: What does it look like? It’s an advance reader copy of my novel.

Ms Hamilton: Do you have copies for the entire class?

Wednesday: I do not. It is not required for me to provide my novel as reading material for the class

Xavier: But you will give me a copy right?

Wednesday: No

Ms Hamilton: Ms Addams. If you can provide copies for the class? I can make changes to the syllabus

Wednesday: If you want to include it? Contact Dead Dance Publishing for copies. My copies are for me and at my discretion to give out. I am not obligated to give them to anyone

Ms Hamilton: You certainly have an attitude, young lady. Do you think you’re a better writer than me? Or anyone in this class just because you’ve got a novel published?

Wednesday: Certainly not. I write for myself. Getting published is an achievement.

Wednesday’s text tone she has set for Mr Burton buzzed. She looked at it

Ms Hamilton: We do not use our phones in class. What is so important?

Wednesday: Mr Burton is asking if I can come to the set tonight-texting Principal Thropp- I am texting Principal for permission. Done. Now can we continue the class?

Ms Hamilton: Why on Earth would he be texting you?

Wednesday: I did not expect this class to be an interrogation. Please continue with the lesson. I have put my phone on silent and in my bag

Student: Hold up? Mr Burton? As in Tom Burton? He texted you? How? Why? And why do you have Principal Thropp’s number?

Wednesday: -sighing- None of your concern

Ms Hamilton: - clearing her throat- Let us get back to our lesson. Your cryptid stories are still being graded. The incident in town delayed that. Your next writing assignment is to write about re animation. Something such as Frankenstein

Kent slipped a note to Wednesday as she rolled her eyes

Now that Enid was off on her West Coast trip for her video series, Wednesday opened up about the new coffee shop as Lurch drove from Newark back to Westfield

Wednesday: Mother. What was your relationship with Françoise? Tyler’s mother? I know she was on your fencing team

Morticia: Well. I would not say we were friends however perhaps more than mere teammates. Her brother was one of your father’s best friends

Wednesday: -turning to her father who was looking a tad uncomfortable- Father?

Gomez: Issac Night was a bit of a mad genius. Let us just say that your mother and Garrett Gates was not the first of our trials at Nevermore

Morticia: let us not dwell on that, little rain cloud.

Thing: -bowing deeply to Gomez and Morticia-

Bianca: We have yet to finalize a squad. We have Illyana back. As well as Miguel.

Wednesday: Illyana usually serves as our score/record keeper. Like Jack and Enid able to fence if needed

Coach Datu: I do like how the two of you have your backups fulfilling duties as well. Observation is important as well

Xavier: New blood is what I say! Would you not agree, Coach? We need new squad members!

Coach Datu: I have read up on the history. Nevermore has never won the fencing championship. They came close during Morticia’s tenure as captain.

Bianca: We can’t use any new team members until after we face Shiz on their campus should we make it out of group. We must beat either Shiz or Ilvermorny twice

Coach Datu: Well. I have yet to see you an Bianca fence. But as co-captains I have no doubt the two of you are capable

Bianca: we usually practice during our captain’s meeting

Coach Datu: I have done research on Shiz. Given my research, I would put Ajax and Jack on the squad. Both are deceptively strong. However, given that the group stages are strict to traditional fencing, keep Jack off until the elimination rounds when freestyle is allowed. I would put Illyana on the squad due partially to her demonic aura, Rey on the stat keeping when Ilvermorny visits.

Wednesday: interesting that you picked that up from Illyana. I am very much aware of that. As a Faceless Rey can really keep tabs on things as well.

Bianca: Illyana would be a surprise to Ilvermorny when they visit as she was not on the travel squad

Xavier: Do you think I should on the squad?

Coach Datu: as Wednesday said. Do better. You clearly underestimated both Enid and Pugsley. You cannot do that in a match. Looks can be deceiving. You have shown me so far that you are worthy of being on the team. But squad selection not so much

The next point went to Pugsley. Wednesday noticed Bruno beating every opponent he faced toward the back of the room

Wednesday: That werewolf who wants my Enid. He’s tearing through opponents

Bianca: -taking notice- Oh? Should we give him a shot on the team?

Wednesday: Brute force. Basic skill set. No doubt he will pull the same thing I did with you and challenge me.

Bianca: -chuckling- Will lose like you did?

Wednesday: Only because he’s using his werewolf strength. He is skilled enough to use it in such a way that someone who isn’t aware of his supernatural nature might not realize.

Bianca: Now I notice. That is against regulations. Like the use of spells and magic. Speaking of which. Have you read the new guidelines?

Wednesday: No. But I am aware. Principal Thropp has given them to my grandmothers. She wants us to win against Ilvermorny as much as anyone. What they will be doing will be fully within regulations as the enchantments are mostly wards and our personal defenses are just spells. Defensive. Protections. Nothing that activates offensively.

Bianca: How does Ilvermorny get away with it?

Wednesday: Principal Thropp says that they use silent incantations and motions. Kind of like how martial arts face offs start with unnecessary kata movements?

Wednesday: they fall into the rules and fall through the cracks. The only reason we have gotten results this year is because it’s now two schools protesting. Nevermore and Shiz

Pugsley’s and Xavier’s third and deciding match was a long one. Pugsley reading every strike of Xavier and countering but not making any sort of attack move himself. Xavier was getting frustrated. He tried switching styles only for Pugsley to do the same with the same result. Finally, Pugsley made the move and ended it quickly using his sister’s signature parry and thrust

Wednesday smirked and nodded in approval

Xavier: Ugh!

Bianca: Perhaps you should have Pugsley tutor you and you might just make the team. We start choosing next week

Xavier: There is no way I am letting Wednesday’s kid brother tutor me! It was a fluke. There’s no way he can beat me again
