Gentleman Ghost

"Why, what ghost don't have plans for the month of October? We practically get to go anywhere we want and not only do people not bat an eye, ah've had some take pictures with me and me horse!"

"Tis the one month ah don't commit crimes because ah don't want to be locked up fer it."

“Makes sense.”

Rune paused for a moment, then reached for their glasses and removed them. Two glowing yellow-gold eyes looked at the ghost.

“You’re definitely one of the most unique ghosts I’ve encountered.”

Rune shrugged. “Fair enough.” They unfolded their arms, readjusting their sunglasses. “You’re a lot more… enthusiastic than any ghost I’ve met before.” They almost said lively, but figured that might be a poor choice of words.

“Usually people have jewelry to wear it.” Rune gestured to their own choker. One of several accessories they wore. They took a moment to look over the Gentleman Ghost, before they suddenly waved their hand through him. “Hm…” They reached into their pocket and pulled out a small journal. They scribbled down a note before putting it back.

“So- are they still here? The things you stole?”

He scoffed, putting a hand to his chest, “Ye think ah’m just going to- what- tell ye? What kind of thief do ye take me for? Ah’m no armature, ah’ve been doing this for centuries!”

Rune held back a sigh- they had done a bit of research on the Gentleman Ghost, and knew from said research that asking likely wouldn’t have been enough. Still, didn’t hurt to try. Rune stood up, arms crossed but tone still calm. “They do have a lot, but you can not just take their things just because they have many other things. If you do not mind my asking, what use does a ghost have for jewelry?”

Rune shook their head. “No, that is not the sort of paranormal work I do. I am more of a…” Rune made a vague gesture with their hand, trying to find the word. “Negotiator? And my client tells me you stole some valuables from them very recently. They would like them back.”

Rune raised an eyebrow, giving a slight nod in return. “ Rune. Paranormal investigator and consultant.” They leaned back against the desk behind them. “From that I assume you already have an idea as to why I am here.”

Rune wouldn’t turn around for a few minutes, but when they did they jumped slightly and froze. They seemed more surprised than scared, though. And they quickly snapped out of it.

“You are the… Gentleman Ghost?” That’s what their client had called him- apparently this particular ghost carried some infamy with him.

He let out a single, amused ‘HAH!‘ when he was asked about his identity. He stood up, took off his hat and took a deep bowl, his cape bellowing slightly.

Within the confines of a decrepit old house, the shadows began to come alive. Just by the inside of the front door they began to twist and writhe as they took on a humanoid form. Melting away revealed a person with skin as pale as death, eyes covered with dripping-shaped sunglasses. They wore almost all black except for the purple deer skull pattern on their shirt. Not to mention the numerous pastel accessories that covered their person.

Moving a strand of pink hair from their face, they calmly walked further into the house. They wandered from room to room, opening and closing drawers and cabinets as they searched for something.

Of course he knew the moment someone was going through things in his house. He knew the moment they came into his house. Mostly because he watched them come in from the shadows.

So of course when they went upstairs he wanted to give them a fright. But he was oh so board of popping out of nowhere. So he tried a new tactic.

No one could ever claim that the Gentleman Ghost was a man who did not have taste. Such a shining example of that was that he had wiped clean the house of some rich socialites when they were hosting a charity gala to make themselves look better.
