he once snuck out the palace and fell into the abyss and everyone lost their minds bc THEIR FUCKING ARCHON IS MISSING, and then he lost the freedom privileges
and with how sociable he is, it really annoys him, because he wants to go out and talk to his people and stuff, but he is kept to the harbingers circle and whenever he asks pierro when will he finally be allowed some freedom, pierro responds with "soon, my tsar" "when we resolve the abyss circulating your body" and that Soon is Never Coming
anyway the things i choose to believe:
- dottore regularly sedates him and stuff because childe goes absolutely wild with being confined and throws fits, but its nothing that some sedatives and syringes and drugs cant fix
- arlecchino likes him because he actually loves loves spending time in the house of hearth with orphans and spar with them; and she had heard so much about his unpredictable nature and was surprised when it turns out he can keep his strength in check and that he is actually an excellent teacher (loyal to the bone she would die for him)
- scara actually helps him sneak out once and they just go around vibing and childe pretends to be a mortal until sandrone rats them (saw them thru ruin guards) out and pierro loses his mind (too bad bc both childe and scara had lots of fun; and scara becomes his friend)
- foul legacy stays foul legacy, and nobody is happy about an actual archon being poisoned by the abyss (imagine the catastrophe if it isnt kept in check)
- as for how other archons feel about him.....venti pities him, morax is very wary and was planning on just killing him personally, ei doesnt trust him and is also up for the bloodshed idea if its really necessary (but she mostly just cares about inazuma) and nahida feels bad for him; maybe they actually seeked her help but she couldnt do anything
i wanted to add on the archons feeling about him: i think furina would really understand him, in a sense that she sees sadness to his confinement and how everythings decided for him, like, she really relates.
columbina (not an archon but yk) pities him and tries to help but in the end its just not enough and she flees as well, leaving him behind

hiii, new sketchbook video. i draw ineffa and some cute robots and talk about nord krai release.
i also use the intro to feature hirbawi, the last palestinian kufiya factory, and feature ezz's fundraiser (#222 on the verified fundraisers list)
i constantly feature palestinian fundraisers on this blog, and it felt wrong to make something showcasing my art without also using it to try and support palestinians and it felt wrong to show my face and then not to stand behind what i say on here.
if you, as an artist, stayed silent during genocide, i do not respect you. no matter how many followers/fans/subscribers you had, if you stayed silent, you are a coward.
please donate to ezz. as many fellow europeans know, the champions league started a few days ago (i, myself, am a football fan as well). but how can we watch the games and not think of palestinian football players who, maybe, wont ever get a chance to play?
football was ezz's life. he played for khan younis football association. now, he is displaced, and the funds he though would be used for evacuation are barely enough to cover the bills of skyrocketing prices in gazzah.
the fifth part of "due to an incident while investigating a ley line, our past selves have appeared..?!" a short comic series about kabukimono + ajax meeting childe + scara
part 1
part 2
part 3
part 4
part 5 (you are here)
i like to think about childe and scara's relationship with food. they both grew up in seaside fishing villages, and have rustic, comforting food as their signature dishes.
scara doesn't need to eat, but enjoys the communal aspect of food, both with cooking and eating it (albeit sometimes in a drama seeking sort of way haha). ever since his birthday letter where he talked about how he was dragged into cooking with some students, i've thought about him and childe cooking together.
maybe i'll have to draw a chiscara cooking contest some day...

This comic is based on Story 3, which speaks of his hobby of ice fishing originating from the days he'd go out with his father on the ice, 'accompanied by his father's unending tales of adventure,' and dream of being the protagonist.
Nowadays, he keeps up the hobby, though only as a method of training... and it seems he fishes alone.
I thought a lot about fairytales and stories told to children -- how they are used to impart lessons and shape a child's growing sense of morality.
I think these stories were Childe's father telling him what kind of man he hoped his son would become.
In Story 5, 'his father had no choice but to hand his beloved son over for conscription into the Fatui' in an attempt to discipline his temper, but was disappointed when Childe continued ascending the ranks, further and further from the gentle boy he was..
His father named him after the hero Ajax. Is he still disappointed in the path Childe has taken? Does he still see his son in the man he sees before him? Does Childe feel in himself the chasm between who he dreamed of becoming and who he is now?
It's interesting, that fairytales should often have a very strict good/evil morality. Childe professes he has no use for such things, and will gladly become a mindless weapon so long as he can continue honing himself for battle. And yet, has he truly given up on being human?
For a Harbinger, Childe is oddly principled, preferring straightforward battles without deceit. He retains a sort of moral code, reluctant to involve those who are defenseless in his plans.
And of course, he deeply cherishes his family. What sort of weapon has a family? Why does he cling so desperately to this identity as a defender of childhood dreams, of being his sister Tonia's knight?
Perhaps his own dream of being a hero died long ago, but a part of him still recognizes the tragedy of it and maybe... in some way, is still trying.
This is somewhat of a companion piece to my Scara comic "one who has given up on being saved". Childe, unable to live up to his childhood ideals of heroism, and Scara, whose pleas for help went unanswered.
A failed hero, and someone who never had one.
ARGHH yknow it drives me nuts. I haven't known peace since I started thinking about it.
