starter: @gdpiero location: italian chambers, sasso corbaro castle ; early evening
the bustle in the kitchen can be heard from hallway as francesco walks past it, smells of roasted meats filling the air all the way to the young noble, whose stomach turns slightly with the prospect of enjoying a delightful and prosperous meal after a day of rather physical labor.
piero’s chamberlain leaves the staff to their own as they set up plates and other cutlery in the dining hall. francesco stops him on his way out, and after brief conversation, sends him to tend to various others businesses as he takes the responsibility of summoning the court of firenze for supper.
he enters the italian chambers of the castle with ease, as he has been doing for the past month or so. first, he greats the people who are found in his way, summoning each passin person to the dining hall. soon, he approaches the door to his older brother’s bedchamber. he knocks, on a pattern piero is sure to recognize. “sono io, fratello. vengo a chiamarti per cena,” he calls, not quite loudly as to not disturb the other guests, but loud enough for piero to hear.
“Come in,” echoes Piero’s stern voice clear and cutting through the heavy door.
He sits behind the dark wooden desk whose organization is impressive despite the contents waiting for Piero’s attention. However, Piero De Medici is clearly preoccupied with concerns not immediately physical upon the polished surface. In the presence of Francesco, Piero allows this to be evident, because he understands, even before hearing it form his younger brother’s mouth, the conflict of his desires. Piero knows Francesco lies dead center between making a name for himself, remaining loyal to his family, and pursuing his carnal passions. All of which, at the moment, could be up against each other. The first two being the most pressing.
“You need to worry about your twin. If she will not listen to me, for your sake, I hope she does to you,” Piero casually looked towards a chair with a look of necessity, indicating to Francesco he both needed to sit as well as have this conversation.
“Giovanna’s need to rise above her current capabilities in this family blinds her to other more pressing matters we ought to be careful of. I speak of Orsini’s claim. What I want to know from you Francesco is that you are being extra cautious with your reputation. I trust it is as important to you as it is to me, and that you recognize anything you do can prove or disprove, in the mind of others, the truthfulness of that man’s words.”
