When people dealing with grief over the loss of a loved one describe being mad/sad at the world for keeping on going and not stopping because they feel like their hurt is going unacknowledged and others are happy while they're suffering that's exactly what i feel happened with sidestep except they're the deceased too. Your whole world stops for 5 whole years, you die and you're dead for 5 years, you get broken down and remade into something worse for 5 years and then you escape this and you go back to the place where you had your life and literally everyone else just kept going with theirs and moved on. Even the people who might've mourned you and whose life also stopped for a bit at your death eventually kept going, remade their lives, got new friends, went other places, laughed and cried and decided things for themselves while you're still stuck in that apartment 5 years ago or in that operating table or in that farm cell.

And what's worse too is that due to sidestep's telepathy and their ability to understand and feel other people's grief and suffering or happiness and contentment while their grief goes unnoticed and true happiness is out of reach there HAS to be some sort of resentment brewing up with the wider population and esp the people closest to them. crazy stuff.

they should invent a term for shipping were I don't think they should be in a romantic relationship however I believe they are each others parasite and separating them is not an option
