Why hello, everybody! It is I, the Queen of the Universe, here with a decree:

I humbly announce that as of today, July 1st, 2026, it is now officially the start of Gay Dog Fire Starter's Tenth Anniversary Celebration!

Yes, you heard right; our beloved pop-music duo has been in existence on this and other planets for an entire decade. Isn't that crazy? I know what you're thinking, and you're right, I haven't aged a day!

In all seriousness, we are beyond ecstatic to have been around for so long. Music in all its silly and danceable glory is our lifeline, and we couldn't dream of doing anything different.

We've got a lot of fun ideas and things in store to help celebrate, so make sure you check back during the month to join in on the festivities. And whether you've been a fan since day one--which would be odd, since we thought we were alone--or you've only recently became a member of our Loser Club, whether you know every word to every song or frankly can barely stand us, we want to say thank you, and we love you, from the bottom of our hearts.

It seems just like that, this 2025 is almost over. It flew by so fast! I'm feeling wistful and optimistic. Next year will mark the tenth anniversary of starting Gay Dog Fire Starter, we've both been so creatively motivated lately, and I can't wait to make and share the gift of pop music with all of you again. Speaking of...

Believe it or not, we, the two members of Gay Dog Fire Starter, are twenty-seven years of age. That's the same age as Stevie Nicks, personal icon and hero, when she made the classic Fleetwood Mac song Landslide. How crazy!

Fifty years later, and we are following in her footsteps. In celebration of the New Year, we're releasing a cover of Landslide! Take a brisk walk in the snow (if you're lucky enough to have any outside) and contemplate the ephemeral nature of life backed with a sound that isn't not like a water level in a video game. It can come through your airwaves via our YouTube channel or on our SoundCloud.

Hello, everybody! It's the Queen of the Universe here!

Today is the fifth anniversary of Diving Team's release, and we just got done with our performance! Thank you to everyone who tuned in! If you missed it, don't fret, it will be available on our YouTube page tomorrow (here's a link for when the video goes live).

Diving Team was a really important album for us as a band. We made the first version of it way back in 2018, well before we finished recording Voice of the Me Generation, what we now consider the official "beginning" of the modern Gay Dog. We've had a great time this month revisiting the team, and we hope that you enjoyed it, too!

In a bit of fun news: we're compiling two of our shows -- the Diving Team set and Voice of the Me Generation from 2023 -- as a musical album! Fittingly entitled Gay Dog Live!, you can experience these two shows in a technically high-fidelity audio recording format! That will be out in just a couple days, September 1st, as a bandcamp exclusive. I'll be back here then with a reminder.

August is almost over, can you believe it? And what better way to send summer off than the musical styling of Gay Dog Fire Starter!

Yes, that's right -- to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the release of our album Diving Team, we will be airing a special concert performance on the internet. Make sure you grab your swimsuits, snacks (I'm partial to a salted pretzel myself), and sunscreen, and tune in on Friday, August 29th at 3 p.m. to see our dance moves and rocking tunes. We're so excited to unveil Diving Team: The Remixes!

This extended play contains two previously related tracks: The Have A Great Summer remix of Diving Team released alongside the original album, and the kind-of-rare Toxitown remix of Crush (Now touched up and titled King Krab).

It then features three lovely new remixes: an arcade-y synthpop take of Diving Team's opening track Fuchsia Sky, a powerful mashup of Queen and Just Keep Moving, and perhaps most fabulously, a pumped up dance remix of Jump!

Hello, everybody! It's the Queen of the Universe here to celebrate our anniversary!!!

This time nine years ago, an intergalactic space diva and a music nerd came together to make electro-pop history. That's right, Gay Dog Fire Starter was born!

We would like to thank our fans. And we have to say it's been an incredible time getting to make music and share it with you!

But, for those of the textual persuasion, I'll recap here:

Next month is the five year anniversary of our second record, Diving Team, and we have a couple of fun plans to celebrate.

First, a remix E.P. will be coming out on August 1st. It will include three new remixes, as well as Toxitown's Crush remix and the Diving Team remix we released back in 2020.

Second, we're going to be doing a concert film (a la our Voice of the Me Generation show back in 2023). More details to be announced!

It's finally time for you to open your Christmas present! Isn't the wrapping just gorgeous. Okay, okay, I can't wait -- what is it?

Oh yes, it is the newest from pop outfit Gay Dog Fire Starter, the song Santa Claus Makeover!

A moment in the making for three years, Santa Claus Makeover follows me, the Queen, as I describe my run-in with Santa and the ensuing beautification process that occurred.

What's that you say? There's something else in the present? Oh, how could I forget? That must be the new Toxitown Christmas song, Handsome Angel.

Backing the Gay Dog Christmas anthem is a wintertime rework of Toxitown's mellow pop track Handsome Devil. These two candy-cane-sweet pop songs are sure to make your night brighter than Rudolph's nose and mayhaps my makeover shall make you make out sloppy-style with your stylish Christmas crush under the marvelous mistletoe, or something of that nature.

Hello everybody, it's the Queen of the Universe with a whole bevy of updates for you!

First things first: the newest musical excursion from Toxitown, a single entitled Digital Self-Harm. You can hear it on SoundCloud here, or you could download it (for free) on bandcamp here, or, if you're feeling extra special, you can watch the official visualizer on YouTube (fair warning upfront: there are lots of flashing lights).

This nauseating dance beat will have you deleting all the social media apps from your phone, and good riddance, if you ask me. Of course, don't delete this one, though! You need the ability to keep receiving our gift of ELECTROPOP MUSIC.

Speaking of, two more announcements:

Jerek, of both Gay Dog Fire Starter and Toxitown fame, has created a little project called crying, a collection of spoken-word poetry and music. It is collected in three video installments (links for one, two, and three). The whole thing has been compiled as an album and will be released shortly on bandcamp (at not-so-high-fidelity).

Yes, that's right -- we have an all-original Christmas track, being worked on by Santa's elves right now (jk, we made it). It will obvs come out very, very soon. Just you wait.

The day has finally come -- Halloween!

Yesterday was the second ever Gay Dog Fire Starter Halloween special, and I would like to thank everyone who tuned in to see my first ever DJ set. I had a wonderful time bringing POP ELECTRONIC MUSIC to the masses.

If you missed the show, or would like to watch it again, an archive recording has been uploaded to YouTube (replete with intro video).

In addition, we are releasing a tie-in EP, entitled Situation Normal: All FREAKED Up 👅! This (a sort of spiritual successor to Keep It Simple, Stupid, if you will) includes four tracks created for the Halloween Special. You can also find that here on YouTube.

Hello, everybody! It's the Queen of the Dark here...

Perhaps you thought it was dead, having its last breath in October of 2020. But we are resurrecting the GAY DOG FIRE STARTER HALLOWEEN SPECIAL and it shall live again!!!

Our first Halloween Special consisted of a rare live performance using cellular technology. Continuing the spirit of trying new (and scary) things -- this year's performance will be my first DJ SET.

Special, unique, original, these are all words I'd use to describe myself.

Tonight is a special night -- it's the inaugural game for Utah Hockey Club! Oh, and it's special for another reason, too -- a new Toxitown track!

Toxitown has covered the indie pop anthem "Human Condition" by the mysterious Californian outfit "Sjowgren". Be prepared to float away on a pile of oscillating synths and reverberated vocals.

This album consists of a new composition, as well as a cover and seven remixed Toxitown tracks, all brought together into one philharmonic experience! Hear the synthetic clarinet as you never have before.

Yes, today you can feast your ears upon the newest from Toxic City, "Feelings, Six Years Ago, Obliterated".

The song is a bizarro arpeggiated spoken word post-dance track about the gulf between young adulthood and less-young adulthood. A content warning: explicit lyrics about suicide and self-harm.

Hello everybody! This is the Queen of the Universe with an urgent and wonderful message.

July 24th is a holiday in the state that I currently reside in (when I'm not home on the planet Venus) called "Pioneer Day." There's nothing like a historical holiday to make one stop and consider their own history.

At the end of July will be Gay Dog Fire Starter's eighth anniversary. It's bewildering to think that we've been in the game for this long, and to see what has started as bedroom pop grow into bedroom pop (but even better!)

I still have a lot of love for our work, from our first album Onion Shells, to our first real album Voice of the Me Generation, to our most recent Gay Dog release, Keep It Simple, Stupid. But as much as I enjoy the past, I also like to look to the future.

To celebrate our anniversary, Gay Dog Fire Starter will be releasing a new single!

The single features two cover songs, in the classical American tradition of country (albeit we aren't the most traditional ourselves).

Track number one is a rousing rendition of John Denver's fourth best song, Thank God I'm A Country Boy, sung by yours truly. Expect a hand-clapping, foot-stomping good time.

Track number two is a lovingly sincere take on Kacey Musgraves' Rainbow. For anyone who's feeling down, there's always been a rainbow hangin' over your heads!

We're so excited to cover these incredible country songs and bring them to you. As always, you can catch me here on release day with the links. That will be a week from now on July 31st, 2024.
