With this healthier recipe, you can indulge in baked donuts guilt-free. Light and fluffy, these donuts have less calories than traditional fried ones. Ideal as a filling snack or a breakfast treat!
Ingredients: 1 cup whole wheat flour. 1/2 cup sugar. 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce. 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt. 1/4 cup almond milk. 1 egg. 1 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. 1/4 tsp salt. Cooking spray for greasing.
Instructions: Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius and spray cooking spray in a donut pan. Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl. Combine the applesauce, Greek yogurt, egg, almond milk, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Mixing until just combined, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Pour the batter into each donut hole, about two thirds full, using a spoon. When a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean, bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the donuts are lightly golden. After letting the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes, move them to a wire rack to finish cooling. Optional: For added sweetness, you can drizzle a light glaze over the donuts or dust them with powdered sugar.
