trying to get server side spam filtering working on my account on the paid email server my dad set up decades ago and failing miserably

#i think i may have it for now #the filters were initially set up with SpamAssassin's x-spam-status #but the only x-spam i was seeing in headers was x-spam-level #tried setting up a filter for that but i don't know if it was because it uses asterisks and that was fucking up the filter #or if it was thunderbird appending it so it wasnt getting filtered as it came in server side #but my emails also have a different spam header that appears to be from the email host based on the name #and it DOESNT use asterisks so I've switched the filter to that in the hopes that that one works #I know the x-spam-level wasnt working because it only moved to spam when thunderbird loaded up on desktop #and the spam filtering used to work originally it just changed at some point in the last few years #oreganol

It’s very disappointing to me that when you look through the ancient history section on a lot of book selling websites they include ancient aliens bullshit on there as if that’s a valid history book

Pop history biography that’s not in depth but very good for casual readers

Beautiful in depth history of women in a particular civilization that offers a much needed perspective shift

An in depth look at warfare and military history written by an expert on the subject

Really fun little picture book for kids just learning about a particular civilization

A new expert translation of an ancient text for a modern audience

Crackpot Jim’s manifesto about how the pyramids of Giza are a giant battery made by aliens actually

Tinfoil hat moment but I don't think he was dumb, I think he was strategic. He put her in a situation in which she had to either: sell her car (so the only means of transportation is now in his name), or maybe even to drop out (to have time for the second job) if she wants to feed the kids. He did it right when she was aaaaaalmost done with her degree. Either way, it's sabotage.

Sometimes when an action makes NO sense to us ("he's like a stupid alien"), it's bc we are not understanding its true motivation/purpouse. If his goal was control, financial pressure and limiting her options due to lack of funds, it makes perfect sensie to buy the truck.

No, this is not tinfoil stuff.

This is classic abuser behavior: maneuver the partner into a situation where they feel trapped and cannot escape. The timing on this is too perfect; he saw her gaining agency & power in the relationship and moved to short circuit that.

I am SO GLAD she got out.
