During time as the weekend sports anchor at WVIR, NBC 29, in Charlottesville, Va., I produced several features. In this package, I geared up to take on the University of Virginia's women's lacrosse team.
The Cavaliers' head coach Julie Myers and her team were great sports and made the piece a lot of fun to put together. It's hard to believe this was about 12 years ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday.
This is an article I wrote about the Virginia Tech ice hockey team. There is not a video associated with this piece. It's just a sample of my writing.
Another multimedia feature for VT News. Again, I wrote the article and shot the accompanying video (top right of the sidebar).
As I manage three Virginia Tech websites, I am proficient in building pages and stories using the university's content management system, Ensemble.

This was the first article I wrote for VT News. The treatment included a written story supplemented by a video I shot, which is highlighted at the top of the right sidebar, and a photo I took, located just below the video.

In February 2012, I introduced a new approach to storytelling to communicators at Virginia Tech. With an extensive background in video production and journalistic writing, I took the two formats and put them together.
I wrote an article about a donation from Northrop Grumman to the Virginia Tech Geosciences Museum. I interviewed three people for the article, but instead of using print quotes, I used soundbytes from their video interviews.
The innovative storytelling concept was so well received that the director of news and and information at Virginia Tech sent an email to all campus communicators hailing the format.
