It is practically common knowledge that there are 26 Old Ones. It is unknown how they came to be or what came before them, and it is even unknown why only 26 may exist at any given time. If one were to kill an Old One--and yes, it is possible--a new Old One would manifest in its place, albeit different. My Master is the shared Master of most Warlocks, Hexcasters, and Thaumaturges... 

Evgeri the Arcane Princess and 4th Old One

Evgeri is by far the most affable of the Old Ones with whom I have conversed. She controls the Arcane, in a sense. Of course, all of the Old Ones have a masterful control over the Arcane, but Evgeri is responsible for leaking the Arcane into the Realm while also making sure no mortal ever gains too much knowledge over its esoteric powers. I once heard a joke in a rather seedy bar I frequent down by the Docks of Despair, which goes: “Evgeri is the Old Ones’ ambassador to mortals, because she’s the only one who has a name that’s pronounceable!” (Sorry if the delivery is a tad dry; there’s a certain lack of alcohol involved in script). Evgeri most often takes the form of a young girl adorned in lacy white with skin as dark as coal and eyes that burn like cinders in a blacksmith’s forge. To even see her is a sign that you’ve done something very, very, very wrong. That is not always the case, however, as sometimes Evgeri can be summoned to the Realm in times of great desperation or when something may tarnish one of her contracts. Her mother, on the other hand...  

Evdiftt the Elder Queen and 1st Old One

You couldn’t pay me enough to chatter with Evdiftt. You might even need to pay me just to think of her. Evdiftt is, well, the Queen. The Queen of all Old Ones. The Master of the Masters. She controls the Old Ones and all things birthed in the name of Eldritch. Legend has it, she’s been known to make contracts with a very select few Warlocks, but my--oh my--is it rare. No one quite knows what she looks like other than that she takes a feminine form shrouded in the inkiest of nights. Old Ones can, for the most part, take what form and name pleases them. Perhaps Evdiftt fancies herself the Mother of all Old Ones and Eldritch beasts and horrors. Zlanzrwrss the Mad Augur and 13th Old One

Oh, Zlanzrwrss. A name that is hard to pronounce only because his true name brings madness to mortals. I’ve heard amateurs adventurers call him all sorts of things from “Zahlanzerwriss” to “Zeelanzeeriss.” Fools. Obviously, it’s pronounced... well... actually, it’s better left unsaid. Lately, there have been many encounters with the 13th as he seems to be up to something in the Realm. I wonder what it could be... My “good friend” Montear Sanguinis even told me the Old One of Madness lost one of his 13 eyes! Now how could that have happened? Furthermore, it seems Zlanzrwrss has been tugging at the Strings of Fate, which are tied to six powerful beings. Now where would he have gotten those from...? Well, obviously he fleeced them from...

Qxaxblxyn the Prophet and 17th Old One

Not too many mortals ever confer with the Prophet. I mean, just look at its name! How would one even pronounce that?! Truth be told, the Prophet scares me a bit. Unfeeling. Cold. Calculated. Mechanical, almost. The Prophet sees all potential outcomes, all threads of time and fate, weaving them together however the Queen pleases. Of course, even an Old One cannot control fate so easily, and that is why the Prophet goes beyond fate.

That’s a topic I can’t go too much into at this time, as it most certainly breaks my terms and conditions. In the future, I shall disclose my knowledge of the more elemental Old Ones, Enchanters, and Hexcasters I love so dearly: Ruh, Xnaava, Cilla, and Akzyd.

So what’s been going on with Deck Quest Expansions? We have 4 expansions planned that are currently in the works! Deck Quest Set I: Crafting (Name to be finalized later), Deck Quest Set I: Beyond Fate, and two smaller booster-pack-type expansions that’ll be 54 cards each. Without further ado, let’s get into what each expansion is about!

Deck Quest Set I: Crafting (Name still not final)

The crafting expansion is actually almost done. It still needs about a month and half of work, but we’ve been able to tackle it pretty quickly because it was actually originally part of Deck Quest Set I: Fantasy, the base game. It got cut because it was simply too big and wasn’t necessary to play the game at its core. That being said, I still love the mechanics it introduces and it’s definitely something I still want to happen. The expansion is about 200 cards (so 100ish less than Deck Quest) and features five new Deck types and 88 new Item Cards! In the picture above, you might notice there’s only four new Decks (Metalworks, Woodworks, Alchemy, and Arcaneworks). There should actually be one more deck called “Fusions,” but its still being brainstormed as it wasn’t part of the original game. The idea behind the Crafting expansion is to add more structured customization options to the game for players to explore. More specifically, it adds options of creating your very own weapons with unique combinations of skills, strengths, and weaknesses. It’s unsure when this expansion will be released in print, but it’ll most likely pop up on Tabletop Simulator at the least.

Deck Quest Booster Sets

If anything, you can probably expect to see these as our next official expansions. We have two planned, although they both are unnamed at the moment. Each will feature 54 cards. One booster pack will add in a lot of spooky, “unexplained” creature Adversaries with a heavy focus on Eldritch-type monsters. The other booster will focus on Item Cards and a monster-drop system for the game. It’ll include Items like: Bone Dust, Dragonhide, Mysterious Goo, etc.

Deck Quest Set I: Beyond Fate

Zlanzrwrss, the Old One of Madness, has failed; the Dragon King slayed; Grisma driven back to his grave; the Champion bested; World Eater ended; the Ancient Guardian silenced; and the Legendary Girzmtov banished back to its own realm of chaos... So... what’s next? Why did you do any of that? For the fame? The fortune? To save people? Maybe... it was fate.
