Was this the original control panel layout? I don’t fancy being player two.

Are you a left-hand Pac Man grabber?

Interesting article. It makes sense that people would balance themselves using their non-active hand. What I find particularly interesting is that it appears that most people used their right hands for the joystick.
As somebody who grew up primarily in the 90s (when games almost universally had the joystick positioned for left handed use), the idea of a centred joystick that can be used with either hand is both novel and a little strange.
Of course, it makes sense that most people would use their right hand in this situation, given most people are right handed, but I’m just far too conditioned for left handed joystick use to ever use my right hand.
I wonder if players who used their right hand struggled in adapting to left handed use when the 90s set it as standard. Anyone?

After reflowing solder on the headers and troubleshooting some dram errors, Stargate lives!
Jeff picked up a Spy Hunter. It works, but missing the MCR power board.
Weekly Fix-it Night #9 July 20, 2015
Jeff previously did a DK Jr. rom swap on the Eight Ball Action PCB and removed a daughter board not needed for DK Jr. Tonight Jeff did a cap kit on the Sanyo EZ-20 chassis, and now the Eight Ball Action is back to a working DK Jr. Jeff just needs the artwork to make this project complete. Mike recently obtained a long sought after Dynamo HS1 cab, so tonight he built a rotary test rig to test his Ikari Warriors, Time Soldiers, Gondomania and Heavy Barrel PCBs for an upcoming multi-rotary cab project, stay tuned for more on that. Gleek brought his GleekShack supply of capacitors and assisted Jeff with the EZ-20 recap.
Mike and Gleek headed downtown Tuesday night to assist our good friend Don in readying his games in preparation for the next Offworld Arcade pop up on July 18th at Checker Bar. Qbert and Forgotten Worlds were repaired while control issues on both Centipede and Wizard of Wor were isolated to their respective game boards.

Weekly Fix-it Night #7 June 22, 2015
After a mind blowing 7 week absence, Weekly Fix-it Night triumphantly rerturns!!! Mike reassembled a monitor after a previously finished re-cap which also involved a frame swap, and also began wiring the control box for Gleek’s Jamma test rig. Gleek built a Missile Command pcb to Jamma adapter to allow for easier bench troubleshooting of, you guessed it, his Missile Command pcb. Jeff was in attendance as well but came straight from work so he did not have anything to work on. Based on the photos found on my phone the next day, a lot of beer was drank. We wrapped the evening up with more beer and some cigars outside on the patio in the rain under an umbrella.
Its been a couple weeks since we’ve posted anything here on this blog. Aside from buying parts for each of our projects, the three of us haven’t acquired any new games lately or held a weekly fix it night due to scheduling conflicts. :( :( :( However, Mike and Gleek did make it out to Offworld Arcade's monthly pop-up last night to get our gaming fix on.
Offworld Arcade sets up one Saturday a month at Checker Bar in Detroit. Admission is $5 and covers your gameplay all night with all the machines set to free play (games which do not have freeplay are pre-loaded with several credits which are refilled throughout the night as needed). There is also a raffle with awesome prizes. Last nights winner took home a Coleco Vision system with several games. Jealous!!
The game line up included Stargate, Frogger, Moon Patrol, Tron, Neo Geo (loaded with Puzzle Bobble and a Multi-cart), Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 1943, Ms. Pacman, Zaxxon, Gauntlet II, Robocop, Elevator Action, Wizard of Wor, Bad Dudes, Burgertime, Centipede, Toki, Final Fight, Street Fighter 2, Donkey Kong, Spy Hunter, and a few others I’m forgetting.
Gleek managed an impressive 25,950 high score on Elevator Action getting to the 3rd building which I personally have never seen (it appeared to be a copy of the 1st building with increased difficulty). Last night also marked the debut of Offworld's new stellar T-shirt design available in gold or grey.
