the heat is so bad in france rn us med students got an official message from our unis today asking us to be volunteers at the hospitals bc it's so dire rn… (bc why the FUCK would they pay us right hahaha it's not like we're living human beings WORKING, with needs or anything). they're activating what they call the "white plan" which they last triggered when it was covid. and they heavily implied that if we don't volunteer it's that we don't take our (future) job seriously. i am SO tired of fighting for the same shit over and over. they don't care abt climate change, this is the result of things that have been predicted over FIFTY years ago they act like wow! it's a little hot innit folks, shit! let's plant a couple of trees in paris to pretend we give a shit, when in reality it's the fact that we're living in this goddamn capitalist society that is BURNING Down our planet that's the cause of all these problems. they don't care abt public systems, they keep giving less and less money to healthcare even when covid showed us how FUCKED it was and how bad it's gotten SINCE, and NOW that even MORE ppl are dying they come to us like oh, btw, you have the most important exam of your life in three months which will determine the rest of your career? yeah come work for FREE bc otherwise that means you're not meant to be a doctor and you're a selfish prick who doesn't care abt ppl dying. fuck. you. 7 out of 10 med students in france have almost or seriously considered quitting med school bc of financial reasons, bc we get paid 2€ per hours and 50€ for a 24 hours shift where we don't sleep on TOP of studying for exams too hard to let us have time to have a side student job. the hospitals literally have no ACs it's up to 38°C in most patients' rooms what do they THINK is gonna happen putting ppl in hyperthermia there??? giving the system less and less money? but it's up to us to show up for free and be the 'saviors' of the country and then get 0 recognition and have shitty life conditions and get yelled at for being ungrateful?? no but it's diff in healthcare bc it's abt having the CALLING, cause if it's a callingTM that means that we signed up to sacrifice our life and our mental health and our physical health for it. guess what! working in the hospital, is a JOB like any other!!!! and using and using us and sucking the life out of our bones until we've got one resident killing themselves every two weeks, more than half of med students suffering from general anxiety and all healthcare workers depressed and burned out just bc they don't!!! want!!!! to put!!!!! fucking!!!! money in this system!!!!!!!!!!!! is not viable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
