How am I just now seeing this pattern for the first time?

Because we’re not taught to think like this in schools. It’s all memorization, we’re not taught about patterns with numbers.

i remember once trying to explain to my teacher a pattern i saw with multiplying 9s and it was that the first digit is 1 less than what youre multiplying and the 2nd is what you need to add to make 9 (so like 4×9 would be 36 because 4-1 is 3 and 3+6=9) and she acted like i was stupid and just told me to do it the way sHE taught us

It all comes back to 9.

I noticed and memorized this pattern because I suffer from a mild discalculi so I have difficulty thinking in numbers. My teacher noticed and started asking them out of order so I had to calculate them in my head nonetheless. Yeah, never got my Multiplication Certificate (which was a thing just like Tie Your Laces Certificate which I also never got)… Yeah I didn’t start excelling at anything until I got to uni because suddenly teachers wanted me to succeed at something I was passionate about… 😂😓

Stop talking yourself out of opportunities because you don't feel like you're "ready" yet. It's time. You're ready now.
