part 1 (dream girl) is about them idolizing someone and building them up in their minds to be someone amazing but they never get close to them and fall in love with the person they’ve pegged them to be

and then part 2 (nightmare) has them being like “wait hang on you’re not treating me right” but they’re so in love with this person that they don’t leave them even though they’re unhappy

Nah. Not at all. Not even close. Nah.

Watch it again. While Jonghyun is crying, the only person sorta kinda comforting him is Key. Kinda. Minho and Taemin (are off screen) and probably no where near him at this time. I haven’t seen before or after, so there is no telling if they’ve comforted him already and leaving him to his tears.

Jjong cries ALL the time. That’s his thing. WE KNOW THIS. THEY KNOW THIS. They know how to handle him. They are his friends. And every time that Jjong cries either Key or Onew are the first person at Jjong’s side. Like clockwork. Lately, it’s been Onew. 

So, imagine, Lee Jinki, who fights so hard to hide his tears from us, who has been through surgery and god knows what else, suddenly loses the composure he’s famed for and starts SOBBING on stage. Look at Key. Key is VISABLY shocked. Shit, even Jonghyun was affected. 

He opens his mouth and says “Onew has been through a lot.” 

Eventually he is brought into the fold but there is an understanding on that stage. This is a rare moment.
