Gaming With Fuzzyroo

Work on the text adventure progresses slowly.  Here’s a bathroom scene I’ve hashed out.  EVERYTHING is stand-in.  The textures on the objects aren’t final, the text isn’t final, and there’s a lot of mechanics left out.

Got a little bit more done on my sci-fi yiff adventure.  Showing this vid to better state my ideas and direction for it.  I’m aiming for a more text adventure style.  Like an old school “point-and-click” adventure more so than a text style.  

I still wish I had an animator to draw out characters acting out what the text boxes will be saying, but I gotta work with what I have.  What I’m hoping for, though, is that by using the 3D environment, I can actually have puzzles and quirky events happening that the player can interact with.  Make it a little bit more immersive and that players will feel more of an impact when playing.

Ok, so been re-working the two NSFW projects a bit. Sadly, this part of game development is all theory, direction ideas, and other texty non visual stuffs. No vid or gifs this time.

Dildo toss:

I reached out to Bad Dragon for permission to use their brand name. They told me they were interested in talking with me about dildo video games, awesome, but that was about 4 weeks ago. So... maybe?

I'm quick-fire learning how to rig and skin 3D models for animation. I believe Unity's physics system + the right rig will give me the perfect flaccidness for flying floppy dildos.

On a side note, I'm trying to think up scenarios that can differentiate levels. I still like the idea of throwing the dildo, but not sure "at what" or "why" as it relates to winning and losing.

Space Text

I have special plans. Some recent text adventures have been awesome, so I'm hoping I can do a good job on mine too. I really wish I had an animator on board, but I'll do what I can for now. I'm planning on modeling mine off of old school text adventures such as Sam and Max Hit the Road and others I've studied in school. I'm also hoping my modern day twist on the concept will be appealing, too. That... and it's going to be pretty hard core... so I hope it doesn't turn off to many folks.

Work on projects has slowed down a bit as game studio application season kicks up. I'm in the middle of creating yet another physical cover letter. Why am I so freaking crazy @.@

Me: *in a conversation about my current projects with my family * …think of it like bowling but with marital aids and the pins are instead a whole city.

Mom: so like angry birds?

Me: in the sense that all physics knockdown games are similar to that one, yeah.

Mom: so what’s different about yours?

Me: Dildos.

I’m not happy with the building mesh.  It’s a pre-made asset, which is probably what I’m going to use for now since I don’t want to spend months building a city just yet.

Now I’m working on yet a third prototype.  I need some serious mental help.

Really, this is just going to be a tech demo prototype.  Me learning different systems to help me create a better bigger game for the ones that I’m currently working on.  

This is how the furry text adventure game started.  I needed to learn more about UI design and UI/Player interaction.  Thus, text adventure.

Here, I need to learn about cameras and how to use some of the amazing systems I’ve picked up since GDC work and integrate them into my space themed on rails shooter.  So yes, jelly physics, dynamic virtual cameras, time control, all of these things in a simple semi-abstract prototype game.

Here’s the basic pitch concept: You shoot dildos at a city.  The more physics based destruction you rain down, the higher your score.  You have a moving particle and a moving power bar that you have to stop at the right moments to maximize your dildo doom.  

For the dildos, I’m using bad dragon references to create low poly in-game versions.

Here’s the smoke test for character select.  I’m using an array to contain all the different choices.  However, I’m not sure I want to go with that many to start.  It creates a ton of work down the road when I actually start putting in the different species in the story.  Ideally, what you select can change over time depending on your actions, but characters will react to you differently based on your species.

Here’s a screenshot of today’s layout test.  I’m really getting a hang of the UGUI system in unity, more so than ever before. 

In this image, you can see a text sample of my yiffy writings.  I’m still working on the ruleset for this game with the meters seen on the left hand side of the screen.  I know at the bottom, the line with the dot, is going to be reputation.  That will change based on your person to person interactions.  I’m undecided if I want it to be for your dom/sub roles or your likability.

As of right now, I’m not decided on how you “lose” the game.  I’d like to avoid “health” or HP systems and also avoid timed systems.  No “you have 7 days” kinda B.S.  Though, I “could” just do a CYOA system and you lose if you take the wrong path... Not 100% sold on that though.

I know I want to play with a disgust meter and an arousal meter.  Like, the more gross things you do while highly aroused, the more chances you will encounter gross situations.  For example, if you did actions that lead you to stick your nose under a grizzly bear’s arm pit, maybe in the future, you’ll get to lick his dirty socks, too.  But if you stay squeaky clean, he’ll tell you he’s not up for letting you lick his pits and just go straight to knob polishing.

I’ve decided on the currency of my universe: the Space Pound, because giggity.  It’s a furry game where you prostitute your way to victory, in space.

I also have been thinking about transformation.  In my favorite text based yiff game, you start out as one species, but as you do actions in certian directions, you slowly change into other species.  So, I might have to do something like that and figure out how to represent that in a stat screen.

On Patreon: Still working on it.  Since I just started my new job, and then they now moved me to night shift, I haven’t had much time to think about the reward system and film a movie about the project.  I’m thinking about holding off the patreon till I have a little bit more done on the game.  Get a first playable prototype out the door and launch the patreon with it.

I'm starting to frame out the story. The idea is that you are a diplomat stranded on a space station. You were invited to visit the new station but on route your ship was destroyed by asteroids. Your escape pod managed to make it to the station but all of your credentials and crew were lost/missing. You need to find a way to pay for a new ship and crew so you can find your way back home.
