      Chaz will nod at her words. “Thank you. She is very lovely.” He said softly. He looked down. “I see…” The male nodded. She was right. He did still have feelings, but it wasn’t a good idea to get involved in something. “I almost died. I was in a really bad place and the recovery has been hard.” He explains. 

       “I’ve been seeing a therapist and she thinks that commitment such as a relationship at this time isn’t the best. The stress and anxiety, it might trigger a relapse.” He looked at Daphne. “I do still love you, D.” He smiled. “I just…need some time. I would like to see you though. Be friends. Hang out.” 

At his words she smiled gently and nodded, softly taking his hand, “I still love you too, and I completely understand. You can take all the time you need, but yes, we can hang out. Maybe even take our beautiful fur babies on walks or playdates?” Daphne spoke in a sweet tone.

   Chaz will smile. “Thank you.” He tells her. The male will lean back on the couch and listen to Daphne speak. “Alex Rose?” He asked. “Yeah, she’s a good friend. Carter and I went to boarding school with her.” Chaz explained. “A chat huh?” He chuckled. “Did you guys trash talk me? I mean…I mean you guys have something in common, me being a shitty boyfriend to you.” 

    Chaz will looked around. “Living room is fine.” He said moving into the living room and sitting on the couch. “Uh yeah, it was hard at first but I feel so much better with out it. I’m still allowed two beers every other night, I just gotta manage it well, which I’m doing good at.” He tells her. 

     Chaz hadn’t expected to see Daphne at his door but he didn’t mind. “Oh yeah.” He nodded. “For sure.” He said stepping aside and letting her in. He shut the door behind her. “Are you thirsty, I have water, juice, soda, milk. No alcohol. Sorry about that.” 

     Chaz stood in the kitchen feeding Monty when he heard the knock. He set the bowl down. “Eat Monty.” He said before washing his hands and heading for the door. It was early afternoon so Chaz assumed it was Clarissa or something. He opened the door. 

    “Oh…” He said with a small smile. “Hey…” 

“You didn’t?” She asked with a raise of an eyebrow. She took a small step towards him, “Gunner, I love you. It doesn’t matter what happens…I love you. And I want to be with you.” 

“But do you want me to go?” She asked as she finally looked up at him. “A few days ago, you told me you don’t love me anymore…so do you want me to go?” She had nowhere else to go and she didn’t know what she could do.

“I’ve never been happy. You’re the only one who ever gave me a glimmer of happiness.” She sighed before she looked up at him. “Look i’ll - If you want me to go that’s all you have to say. But there’s only two other outcomes, Gunner. Either Harrison finds me or I’m found in a ditch. And I’m not saying it to guilt you or whatever but…” She shook her head with a sigh.

“You really don’t get it do you?” Lorelai asked with a raise of an eyebrow. “I don’t want anyone else. I - All my life…i’ve had a mask up. I’ve made myself someone else…so no-one saw jjust - So no-one saw the real me. And with you? Gun, I let my guard down. Don’t you see? I’m more me around you than I’ve ever been with anyone in my entire life.” 

       Alex nodded and moved to sit down next to the girl. “We’re close.” She shrugged. “But not like we used to be, that chapter is finished.” She nodded. 

      “I’ve heard the story. I know what went down. I’m not gonna pick a side because that is not what I do, but I will tell you that it wasn’t just you who was in the wrong. Your sister took advantage of Charles yes, but he did not have to take the coke from her.” She points out. 

    “As for you and him, I think that maybe you can work things out, at least talk things over. Because trust me not talking to each other, won’t fix things, or make them better.” 

“That’s what I said to him but I know my sister she is manipulative, has been all the time I’ve know her.” She spoke before sighing.

“How am I meant to talk to him? Every time we talk we seem to fight now, and I know he’s gotten back to sobriety. I don’t want to jeopardise that. I’m the reason he broke last time.” Daphne stated.

       Alex will lean against the rail and blow out a puff of smoke. When the other girl spoke, Alex laughed. “Oh, ew.” She shook her head. “Nah, no. Not going down that road again.” Alex took another drag. “Charles and I aren’t together. We dating way back in boarding school.” She admitted. “But we broke up senior year. We’re just friend with absolutely not benefits.” 

     Alex flicked some ash off the cigarette. “I actually came here tonight as a sort of a distraction for him. Because he’s still really hung up on you.” She smiled. “He adores you, I’ve had to listen to him cry about it. It’s sweet.” 

“Oh...” The girl spoke, playing with the hem of her shirt. “You guys looked a lot more than that, but I guess if you have a history that makes sense..” Daphne spoke softly.
