A very quick Amy/Jake and Gina/Rosa fanfic, because I needed to write something to deal with THAT winter finale

“And you see, she’s timetabled everything perfectly and made it look pretty, which just shows how clever she is, and it’s just the right size to go on the wall, see? ”
Amy can hear Jake’s voice before she’s even turned the corner of the hospital corridor, and she fights the urge to grin as she heads towards him. He’s standing in the middle of the corridor, holding a print out of her timetable for the squad to visit Gina and waving in the face of a weary looking nurse. As she gets nearer, she makes eye contact with the nurse and rolls her eyes in solidarity before dragging Jake away. He grins.
Amy sighs. “Jake, it took me five minutes to sign us in and grab our visitor badges. Was it really that hard to survive for five minutes without telling another member of hospital staff about the Gina timetable?”
He has the sense to look bashful, before grabbing her hand and pulling her towards Gina’s room as he talks.
“It’s just because I’m proud of you babe.”
“It’s just a timetable!” All the same she blushes a little, and Jake notices, grinning as he replies.
“It’s a timetable, Santiago-style. Which makes it infinitely better than any other timetable”
Amy laughs, and squeezes Jake’s hand. He grins and squeezes it back. As they reach Gina’s door, Jake walks inside, but Amy pauses, letting go of his hand. Her stomach twists nervously. She hates it, hates illness, hates hospitals, hates the fact that her friend is lying in a starched stiff hospital bed and hasn’t opened her eyes for two weeks. But today is their turn on the Gina Timetable, and Amy Santiago always follows her timetables, so she pushes open the door and follows Jake inside.
In the room, she discovers Jake and Rosa staring at each other, unmoving. She glances between them, waits for someone to move, to explain why there is one more person in the room than timetabled but no one does, so she begins to tidy around the bed. Finally, Jake speaks.
“You’re not meant to be here.”
Rosa takes an angry step forward. “I can come here whenever I want.”
Jake looks confused, and steps backwards, away from her. “No, all I meant was according to Amy’s Gina timetable, you don’t have to be here until Wednesday.”
Amy pauses halfway through putting some flowers in a vase and smiles to herself. Considering that he once forgot to call her about a case for half a year, the fact that he’s memorised her timetable feels pretty good. Meanwhile, Jake is still talking.
“You can go get on with your life. You can see Adrian. You two can go … punch walls? Glare angrily into space? Throw stuff off a roof? Okay, I have no idea what you guys do for fun.”
At the mention of Adrian, Rosa’s body shifts, and she steps backwards, her guard suddenly down. “Pimento and I broke up.” she mutters quietly.
Jake and Amy exchange worried glances, and Amy moves to stand next to Rosa.
“Are you okay?” Amy asks hesitantly.
Rosa shifts awkwardly, and shrugs.
Amy tries another question.“Do you miss him?”
Rosa shrugs again, gazing at her feet. “I guess.”
Jake moves to stand on her other side, and puts a hand on her shoulder. “You could still go and throw some stuff off a roof? That might help more than sitting here and thinking about it. Trust me, the only way to get over him is to get out there and -.”
Rosa jerks away, making Jake drop his hand, and moves to stand at Gina’s bedside. “No! I want to be here. With her”
Jake turns to stare at Amy with a pained look on his face. “But the Gina timetable! Babe…”
Amy gazes between Rosa and Gina, her eyes narrowed. She’s got a pretty good idea what’s going on.
Jake gasps at this, and Amy has to admit to herself that saying that hurt her more than she thought it would, but she holds up a hand to silence him and moves to stand by Rosa.
“You can have our slot. You can have all the time with Gina you need.”
Rosa smiles a little, still staring at Gina. “Thanks. I know the timetable meant a lot to you.” Jake makes a strangled noise in the background. “And to Peralta. I just need…To sort some things through. And to be with Gina.”
Amy nods. “But make sure you look after yourself too, okay? You can’t spend every minute you’re not at work here; you need to eat and sleep”
Rosa nods, and Amy smiles sadly, patting Rosa on the shoulder.
“She’ll be okay,” she whispers, before moving to the door, grabbing an open mouthed Jake as she goes and pulling him outside the room. As soon as they are in the corridor, he explodes.
“What was that?! Rosa… the timetable…”
He looks down at the copy of the Gina Timetable in his hands sadly, and Amy kisses his cheek .
“I think we may have discovered some feelings in there that aren’t able to be timetabled. Sorry babe.”
Jake stares at the timetable forlornly, before suddenly jerking his head up in shock.
“You mean Rosa likes Gina?” he cries, dropping the timetable. Amy laughs, gazing back into the room where Rosa is now holding Gina’s hand and talking.
Jake looks over Amy’s shoulder, before kissing her gently. “Yeah, I see where you’re coming from there babe. You might just be right.” He sighs. “But it was such a good timetable…”
