Fun story: I asked Josh Safran on twitter if he could share the entirety of Dan’s vows (as some picture of the two pages suddenly emerged on twitter, but the second one was half hidden) to which he answered by tagging Jeanne Leitenberg, one of the Gossip Girl writers asking her if she was the one who wrote them. She did and shared the entirety of Dan’s vows, which you can read right here:

“I asked them to relearn their dialogue, on the fly, integrating the argument into the scene on the stage. What resulted was one of the most satisfying scenes in the show–or for that matter, in any of my shows. It was a tribute to these wonderful actors that they were able to pull it off with aplomb. (At the top of the gag reel from season two, Leighton Meester looks into the camera and says, “This is going to be so fun, you guys.” This was just as we began shooting this particular scene.)“ [x]

you and I will never last
The year was 2011. Gay marriage was only legal in two states, Brittana and Faberry kept the lesbian fandom alive, Vampire Diaries was a good show, and Gossip Girl was trying to redeem itself through Dan/Blair.

Here’s to spending the holiday season with loved ones…fictional or not! Xoxo… Photo by Nick Haymes.
The one relationship I’d love to see play out is Blair and Dan. Just selfishly, honestly, because I love working with Penn. (x)
I don’t know if they’re ever going to get together, but I’ll tell you that I’ve never enjoyed any scenes on the show as much as those scenes with Leighton Meester, strictly intellectually as an actor. […] those scenes with Blair are the best. (x)

“the one relationship I’d love to see play out is blair and dan just selfishly, honestly, because I love working with penn. […] he has a humble, comedic air that is disarming and looks effortless - in life, at work, and in public.” -leighton meester
“I do like the scenes with leighton because I get to kind of interact in a fun way with her. when dan and blair are together, I think that’s him at his brightest, maybe.” - penn badgley
