So I skimmed through this blog since I saw a retweeted answer on my dash. And I got to admit, of the pages I've scrolled through, there are only few people I would really consider "fat". Sure, all people have extra weight, but most of them have it within a reasonable amount. "Fat" for me is the point, where it starts getting unhealthy for your body, but maybe it's just me ^^" Just wanted to say that ;) Saw a lot awesome cosplays on here =)
Well, I've said this before, but I'm gonna have to say it again. A lot of people come on this blog and say things that are similar. I'm tiring of it a little. Once again, this is not at all a compliment. It's actually going towards the realm of outright offensive. I'm going to say why, but honestly, because I've said it before, part of my answer is an answer to another ask from not too long ago, because if I'm going to have repeat myself, I'm not going to take the time to re-phrase it creatively.
Unfortunately I think you’ve missed one of the overarching points of the blog. Fat is not an inherently negative term. What makes it seem negative is everyone, especially the ever-pervasive media, indicating that to be fat is to be something negative. Fat isn’t a defensive badge or an inherently negative term. It’s an adjective plain and simple.
We are fat. Telling someone who is clearly fat that they don't seem fat to you, or divorcing them from a term that absolutely describes them, is to tell them that they aren’t what other fat people are supposed to be like. It’s basically telling us that we mustn’t be fat because we look good in our cosplays.
Now I'm going to tackle the "reasonable amount" of weight point, and the "fat is where it's unhealthy for your body."
Unfortunately for you, you've hit one of the most common fat-shaming tropes. That fat people are inherently unhealthy, that weight must be carried in a "reasonable" amount. What you've made clear here is that the term fat, for you, means someone who is inherently unhealthy, and your definition probably comes with connotations of laziness and slovenliness.  You've told us that we musn't be fat because we carry our weight "appropriately" and don't look unhealthy to you.  You're telling us that we're good fatties, not those unhealthy, lazy ones.  That's a "good fatty" archetype, something that Stacy Bias unpacks in a list here.  I'd read up to avoid using those archetypes in the future as you've done here.This sudden concern for someone else's health is called called "concern trolling," wherein someone criticizes another under the guise of concern.  With fat-shaming, people concern-troll out of false worry for someone else's health. "I'm all about loving yourself, but this is just unhealthy." How many times have you heard that diatribe, followers?
To top it all off? This concern isn't even based in fact. There's an article by Julianne Ross about fat stereotypes and Ms. Ross phrases it more eloquently than I. She discusses how the fat=unhealthy mess is actually pretty baseless:
"If being fat were inherently bad for us, then weight loss should bring about innumerable health benefits. But that's not always the case: Multiple studies have seen little to no connection between weight loss and decreased risk of mortality.
In fact, some studies have found that fat people are more likely to survive cardiac events and that being overweight can have a positive influence on longevity. What's more, losing significant weight is very difficult, and intense yo-yo dieting can cause plenty of health problems, too. The conversation about weight-related health risks also frequently ignores the problems that thin or underweight people may face as well.
Extremes on either end of the scale carry risks, and no one doubts that eating a balanced diet and getting regular exercise are good things. On its own, however, weight is not the issue."

So, in short? We're glad you like our cosplays. But most of the other things you've said are more insulting than I think you realized. Â I'd go read up a little more on fat positivity before posting again to make sure you're not actually insulting the people you're trying to be positive towards.Â
