ji-hun wasn’t sure how to feel at this moment. seeing the sadness on eunbi’s face was something he couldn’t stomach. she has had him wrapped around her finger since they were teens. maybe even before that. yet, right now he couldn’t bring himself to give into her. it would just cause more heart ache. he had spent days in his room ignoring everyone. even jae eventually gave up on him until he was ready to talk. those endless days of feeling useless and pathetic were very vivid in his mind. as she spoke he wasn’t sure if he believed her. the person who held his heart left with no explanation, and absolutely no goodbye. yet here she claimed she wanted to see him? how many times had he’d called just to be sent straight to voicemail. all the endless voice messages of how much he’d missed her or just telling her about his day. just to never even get a text in return. his hurt was only making him angry. angry at the fact he still loved her. “biggest mistake huh?” he scoffed he didn’t believe her. even with the tears running down her face he couldn’t trust her. sighing ji set his forehead against hers trying to catch as many tears with his thumbs as he could. when she tried to step away his hands moved down to catch her sides. “eun,” he spoke softly trying to find his words. trying to keep his brain on track before he did something he’d regret. “please stop crying,” his voice pleaded as if he’d break down himself. closing his eyes for a brief moment to clear his mind before glancing back down at her. “don’t be sorry. i shouldn’t have given you a reason to leave. what did i do to make you leave me?”
𝔢𝔳𝔢𝔯𝔶𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔫𝔤 in eunbi was screaming at her to just walk away. like she had a right to even be here, to be in front of him after the pain she caused. there was no way around it, and she knew it. so why was she there? why had she thought this had been a good idea. to just show up back in town. and to say these things to jihun. it wasn’t fair, and now every nerve in her was telling her to leave. she did it once why couldn’t she do it again? it would save them both from even more heartbreak in the long run. “yes.” she spoke quietly, willing herself to stop crying. she had no right to stand in front of him and act like this. she closes her eyes tight, trying to will herself away. maybe its a dream. a nightmare, more like it. she feels him lean into her, their foreheads touching and the butterflies in her tummy multiplied, quickly shifting into nausea. but she couldn’t pull away. he had always made her feel safe and this time was no different. “but i am. i’m so sorry.” she whispers, her eyes closed again as he pleads her to stop crying. when he speaks next, it’s like time around her stops. she never realized he would think her leaving was his own fault. her eyes shoot open and she stares into ji’s eyes. “no. no. it had nothing to do with you ji, i swear. i left because of me.” she implores, her hands reaching up to touch his, still busy wiping away the stray tears falling from her eyes. “i left because i was scared okay? i was the problem, not you.” she speaks staring intently into his eyes. “i shouldn’t have come back. this was a mistake. it was stupid and selfish.” she shakes her head.
