According to government statistics, a woman is abducted every 10 minutes and one is raped every 20 minutes in India. As a result of this evident misogyny, Sampat Pal Devi developed the “Gulabi Gang.” They work together for justice for oppressed and abused women. They wear pink and carry a bamboo stick to use as a weapon if necessary. “I don’t advocate violence, but there are times when that is the only way to fight. These are people for whom words and arguments are not enough,” Devi said.
