something about venture bros that will always bother me is the not even so latent hatred of women. like. there is one female main character whose entire beginnings stemmed from being a love interest to further several male characters' plots until season 4. every single female side character is treated so so poorly in one way or another. sometimes i just remember that they could've done women so much better.

like it speaks volumes that they never even thought about exploring the plotline of Triana being a prodigy of Arcane powers. No, they just needed that plotline to get her away conveniently and she stays a love interest. Molotov's organisation and motivations could have been such an interesting aspect to explore further while humanizing her as a character. But no, she stays a bond girl caricature, nothing more. It's incredibly frustrating how it took like 6 seasons for Sheila to have some kind of spotlight besides being a love interest for several men (and don't get me wrong, Sheila was an incredible character before that, just not done justice). Im tired.

I'm not done actually. They can bring random minor characters back for plot relevance or just laughs (King Gorilla, Ghost Robot, Henchman no. 1...) but they cannot do the same with Triana's friend Kim from s2 who had a whole revelation about wanting to became a supervillain (and was implied to be some kind of gay). Come the fuck on.

Also to reiterate this, I am not denying that Doc and Jackson wanted to do more with the female characters but were hindered by the cancellation. That's a fair point to bring up and simultaneously, I do think it is fair to criticize the misogyny in the general female character treatment of the show.
