deep breath in, then out. colin’s hands have a fine tremor to them. putting on the ring, an ugly yellow that makes everything around it look a little sallow, is an experience he isn’t ever prepared for. fears he’s spent years and years fighting tooth and nail to push back are dragged kicking and screaming to the forefront again.
there’s a cluster of little yellow bats that have yet to disperse, and colin scoots away from them hastily until his back hits the wall behind him, and he forces himself to take several deep breaths. “ just gimme a second, ” he requests, staring at his knees hard. he knows if he looks up, he’ll see their fears too. and he’s not ready for anything else. his own are bad enough for the moment.
