Japanese Giant Salamanders can squeak. They (the salamanders, not their squeak) are celebrated in an annual festival in Okayama on August the 8th, featuring giant salamander parade floats.

Physicist Sir Arthur Eddington was vital in arranging two simultaneous expeditions in 1919 to demonstrate the bending of light around a star during an eclipse. With storm clouds clearing just thirty minutes before the eclipse, Eddington was able to prove the theories behind General Relativity and popularise Albert Einstein outside of Germany. Eddington was also the first person to describe the process of fusion in stars.
