I am fully aware that the reason why the world map of every GTA game is depicted as an island despite the fact that they're supposed to be fictionalized counterparts of real places in the mainland US is for technical reasons, as Rockstar decided to circumvent the problem of invisible walls by simply not having any non-playable areas, and having the playable area be surrounded by water.
But I like to think this is fully diegetic and in the GTA universe the United States is just a gigantic archipelago. It's an entertaining thought.

Additional thoughts: Very interesting one-man-band project. Not a big fan of the marge simpson vocals on this one even though I usually enjoy black metal shrieking, but everything else is just the right amount of experimental to keep things interesting without verging too much outside the straightforward black metal territory. The first half of the album kinda makes me wish more black metal did jazzy guitar solos and prominently featured fretless six-string bass, and the dungeon synth in the second half is pretty solid too.
I feel like advertising is probably the funniest place anyone can choose to predicate their moral arguments against AI on the basis of environmental impact because like. The advertising industry is already probably the most wasteful i dustry in terms of environmental costs vs. actual value it provides, to the point that adding AI to it amounts to a very small drop in the world's biggest bucket. Like.

"Using AI to design flyers is bad for the environment" I can tell you with 100% absolute certainty that the environmental impact of printing hundreds of paper flyers which will be looked at exactly once and then thrown in the garbage is like. Several orders of magnitude bigger than the environmental impact of generating the picture that will go on said flyers.
Like I find it hard to think of a position that more succinctly communicates "I never think about where anything comes from or how it's produced or how it's disposed of or the environmental costs of any steps in that process unless there's some sort of moral panic telling me to be concerned about it" than thinking that the "AI" part of "ads made with AI" is the part that's bad for the environment.

This article is paradigmatic for the state of the pro-Palestine and anti-repressive movements in Spain. On the one hand, the most damning thing; a government whose international relations strategy of the past few years has hinged on its "support" of causes such as Palestine and against the war on Iran, seemingly breaking with imperialist policies, consistently infiltrating the very same movements within it, movements whose most illegal actions, might I add, constitute graffiti and stunts that sometimes require tresspassing. On the other hand, this article demonstrates the very lacking security culture and education in these movements. Besides the obvious fact that they were infiltrated, this article in one of the principal left-wing newssites goes over every single action the police officer committed that arose suspicion. Do they intend to give the police feedback on how to better infiltrate these movements? What is gained by exposing this much detail publicly instead of reserving the analysis to internal documents shared between organizations? The article repeatedly says they want to make sure this one officer isn't able to infiltrate any other movement, but to avoid violating the gag law they only give the officer's real initials and fake name. She's not actually very identifiable from this article and it's not like the police is short on agents that can infiltrate. The main message this article sends to the police and the Spanish government is that the anti-repressive movement still lacks basic notions of security and hermeticity

i see a lot of criticism towards 17776 along the lines of “ugh if humanity actually stopped aging or dying and people really did just live forever they would not spend their time playing football… that is not what EYE would do with MY time…. this is so unrealistic….. clearly the author just wanted to write about sports 🙄😒” and like. yeah. yes. exactly. jon bois is a sports writer and sports analyst who wanted to examine why people love sports and why sports have cultural staying power and why he especially finds sports compelling and what sports have to say about the human condition and our ability to care. so he made up a fake scenario about humans being immortal and then he made it about sports. and he wrote about sports. the story is titled ‘what sports will look like in the future.’ if that isn’t something that you can vibe with then maybe the story simply is not for you
