2017 was surely not great, but I can also say it was not the worst either. A lot of great things happened this year. I started a new “career” (sorry for word choice, but it was most applicable). Ali finished her SECOND masters degree (were together 10 Years come March and she still impresses me daily. She is superlative in every imaginable way). Otis got some good snoozing done (he’s been practicing for years, but I think he nailed the sleep schedule this year). Sure, loads of terrible things happened too, but is is important to focus on the positive, otherwise what are we doing? At the end of the day and the end of this year, we still have our friends. And our family. And I still adore my wonderful wife. And I still live with this crotchety yet cuddly old dog. And I just watched a heartwarming new season of Black Mirror (wait, what?) So it’s not all bad. So let’s take the not so great, remember it and then let’s focus that energy on magnifying the good (...seriously though, heartwarming? Black Mirror? Did you even watch the Crocodile one? You’re crazy, man. I like you but you’re crazy man). It’s all ebbs and flows anyway. Let’s aim to flow in 2018. To quote the late great Thomas Earle Petty (who ill continue to mourn publicly and privately into 2018 and beyond), “some days are diamonds, some days are rocks”.
