My uncles tree, needing some love. I used some of these photos to re-create a wire version. I decided to use wire as I can manipulate it quite well, it also can be shaped, so makes a good effect for the leaves (that is has.) The wire was also really good for the roots of the tree. Although you can’t see them in the photo, I thought it would be better for my model to be free standing and not have to be attached to something.

I used many different ways to manipulate the wire such as twisting, weaving and squeezing (with the wire cutters) soon I will put it inside the black box to conserve nature and grief in my own personal way.

My uncles tree is a conker tree and although last time I was there, there wasn’t any conkers. I do have a lot from previous times. I wanted to use them in a positive way by using acrylic paint pens to design bright flowers or pattens. My next task with conkers is to use pyrography on them. My idea so far is to engrave his name on them and place them into my box.

I prefer the look of this paint but I have to layer it in order for the best outcome.

After visiting my uncles grave in October, I was left wanting to make it look better, the tree is dying and I needed something to keep his spirit on. The idea of an unexpected beauty like a mushroom made me think about how although it is a fungus and feeds off of dead organisms, it can still be colourful and vibrant, almost like from a fairy tale.
