the phantom files S3E18: âfrosty the snowman.â location: winter festival in winter village. guest star: mystery inc. @fredrichjonesâ @jinkiesdinkley @zoinksduudeÂ
it would be dannyâs luck to find himself stuck in the ice palace in the midst of a blizzard. well, stuck with a group of kids he barely knew in a seemingly empty skating rink to be more exact. itâs interesting how a matter of moments can change the atmosphere of something so drastically. as the first night of the festival came to an end, the cheerful energy the night had been engulfed quickly shifted into confusion and annoyance as a storm hit out of absolutely nowhere. and the once packed ice palace became the eerily quiet spot that housed a small group of people whoâd gotten caught outside at the worst time. with the power knocked out due to the storm, they had no choice but to sit and wait â wait for the snow to let up, wait for help, just wait. âstill no service.â danny grumbles as he looks at his phone again before tossing it to the other side of the bench he was sitting on. âany luck on your end?â he looks over at the mystery inc group. inviting them to be on the show was was a no brainer, but as he sits in the dark with them and one cameraman and no real idea when theyâd get out of here heâs starting to think this was a mistake.
one thing about velma was, they were meticulous. they planned for every detail, every kind of wrench that could be thrown into their plans. when planning for the winter festival and filming with danny, they checked their weather app multiple times and a blizzard was never predicted. so, being unprepared for such an event has left them on edge the moment the snow picked up seemingly out of thin air. right now all they could think about was how absolutely freezing cold they are. arms wrapped around themself, velma huddles close to daphne for warmth. they can feel themself shaking, teeth chattering from the bitter cold. no electricity meant no heat, no connection on their phones, no signs that point to getting out of this sooner rather than later. with the blizzard showing no signs of stopping, velma canât help but sigh at dannyâs words. theyâd been staring at their phone screen for what felt like hours in hopes by some kind of miracle they could get reception. they shake their head, slipping their phone back into their coat pocket. â none at all. doesnât look like weâll be getting any kind of connection either if this blizzard doesnât let up. â they lament, head resting on dapneâs shoulder. â there was no mention of this in any weather reports â they point out. â there werenât any signs it was coming either.. do any of you find that strange? â they ask, looking around at their fellow friends, danny, and his crew. // @meddlingdaphneâ
in hindsight, daphne could have dressed a little better for the weather. even before the blizzard hit sheâd been cold, the tights she paired with her skirt doing very little for her. but sheâd never been known to compromise a look for practicality before and she certainly wasnât going to start tonight. but as she sits next velma, huddled up to her best friend as they shiver, she thinks maybe now should be the time that she puts practicality before aesthetic. ânope.â daphne answers danny, popping the âpâ on her answer deliberately. she hardly wanted to think about what it meant that they still didnât have service, and didnât want to entertain the idea that they might be stuck here until the morning. when Velma rests their head on her shoulder she smiles a little, giving their hand a little squeeze. âi mean, this island is weird.â daphne sighs, quoting dipper as her explanation of it. âlast month it was disappearances, this month itâs strange weather patterns.â itâs said with a little annoyance, because all this and still no closer to finding any real monsters or ghosts. that was the whole reason theyâd come here in the first place. @zoinksduude
shaggy was not prepared for the winter festival to get spooky in the slightest. he was havinf a good time with his pals, he ate a lot, he was high as fuck, and all of those things would be fine if dark abandoned ice rink hadnât been added to the equation. now he was antsy, cold, and shaking as he tapped his foot on the ground so he wouldnât sprint at the doors and try to pry them open with his bare hands. âthis is creepy,â he mumbled, talking aloud but to himself. ânot digging this. not groovyâŚi want my mommy.â he was ready to go insane in here. freeze to death from his own anxious tears. he was not sure which would happen first but they were the only scenarios his brain could come up with. he wanted to scream but he didnât need the gang to see him worse than he already was. his phone had died hours ago and that didnât help with anything. he was in his own world when things like this happened. he knew he was aware his friends were close but he felt himself dissociating hard, so he held himself and closed his eyes, foot tapping, hoping scooby-doo was okay. @fredrichjonesâ
They may not have been solving any major mysteries lately, but the gang sure had seen their fare of hardships. Thatâs why, when they got trapped inside the ice palace, it just seemed like another day in their lives. Fred immediately clicked onto low power mode upon arriving, a fact that he was proud to have thought of, but the way he constantly sat on his phone cancelled out his great planning. His genius came in spurts. âAw, itâs okay, buddy,â Fred said, wrapping an arm lightly around Shaggyâs shoulders. He gently pulled him a little closer, subconsciously intending to comfort him with body heat, as he looked around at the gang. âThe blizzard came without a warning, so itâll probably go without one, too. We just have to wait it out,â he stated, the words founded on nothing but basic responsibility to take leadership in moments of confusion. If he came off as competent, the others did too, or so heâd come to learn over the years. Squeezing Shaggyâs shoulder lightly, Fred glanced over at Danny. âCan we get any B-roll, for now? Commentary on getting stuck, like a âhidden pains of fameâ thing?â No one else would care about that much bonus footage of his friends and him, but heâd sure love it. @imgoingghcstâ
