The lack of body language in a LDR always makes it difficult to communicate moods when your natural feeling may be to withdraw.

One thing you could try is to have a series of emoji you could use in your name to indicate how you are right now. They would always be there (not just when you’re feeling depressed or anxious), but be a daily (sometimes hourly) status update.

If you use apps like kik etc for your communication, this could be an easy thing to add. Work out a legend that suits you and send it to him

For example, name: ӇҽҽӀѕ 👠👠 ☀️

☀️ = happy

😈 = cheeky

🙃= silly

🤗 = cuddly

😔 = down

😣 = anxious

😓= upset

🌥= early feelings of depression

🥀 = depressed

😡= angry

Make up what you want to express yourself. If you make this your habit, your Dom won’t need to play guessing games.
